We are celebrating our 33rd year in Lionville – Exton PA! Keeping with our business plan of “something for everyone”, we take pride in being the Local Favorite. When I opened my first restaurant in 1982, I set the goals high and my business plan was to offer the best food and best selection with continued reasonable prices. We have not now nor will we ever stray from this goal; it’s the right thing to do and has rewarded us with much success. I continue to work at least 6 days a week after all these years in order to ensure your satisfaction. Our warm, inviting dining rooms and a busy bar are here for your enjoyment. We built our Italian menu and our facility around being “Unique, Authentic and Original” and it shows, check out our photo and video GALLERIES to see what we are all about. You can also take a look at our testimonials (we get them daily) to see what others are saying about us.
We are always looking to improve upon our already successful Italian restaurant and therefore always have a project in the works. Our ongoing focus and passion has been to prepare all of our food from scratch by using only the freshest ingredients to ensure your health. We now offer many gluten-free and low carb options to accommodate all dietary needs. We use imported Italian flour for its quality and lower gluten content because it is made from ancient grains rather than US hybridized wheat. We make all of our salad dressings, soups and most appetizers in-house in the interest of removing preservatives, MSG, trans fats, high fructose corn syrup and artificial ingredients from all of our products. I read the labels; I know what’s in our food. We also serve hormone and antibiotic free Fresh Natural Local Chicken, hormone and antibiotic free Filet Mignon, NY Strip Steak steaks and Roast Beef. We use locally farmed organic eggs year round and local organic produce whenever possible.
Found this place on this app and could not believe all the GF options! I felt like a kid in a GF candy store! I ordered chicken fingers and fries, eggplant rolatini, and mozzarella triangles. All came with a GF marker in the food so there was no confusion with the rest of what we ordered. The menu has many other GF option but because the ones I ordered are so hard to find normally, I got them all! And they were all amazing. Portions were good and the food was tasty. There is an upcharge for GF buns and pizza crust. (Side note: they have some outside seating too). I can’t wait to go back.
I have always loved Ron's! Even before I was diagnosed, I loved how they shared their belief about how wheat from other countries was better for us because of the healthier soil. They import their wheat from Italy, I believe. They are always conscientious about serving gf foods to their customers, marking plates with a gf toothpick! I love this!
Called at 10:02 on a Saturday evening and they said they had closed early. Hours said open until 11pm on Saturday. Beyond bummed, was really looking forward to trying this place. Being celiac leaves you with limited options so them closing early really kind of ruined my evening. I understand that things happen, but it didn’t sound like it was an emergency situation and they chose to close early to save money. That is terrible customer service and losing out on potential customers by closing early.
TL;DR dedicated fryer, excellent experience for dine in and take out. More than two dozen options.
I grew up going to Rons and have never had a bad experience. Since going gluten free due to an allergy 1.5 years ago I've dined in and carried out. From fresh pasta, to chicken fingers, bread, and a dedicated fryer I have never gotten sick.
The food is always delicious and the servers are kind. Once, I ordered a pizza (they call it an oval) and wanted to try the white sauce not thinking too much into it since their Alfredo pasta sauce is gluten free.
Well the chef informed our waiter the white pasta sauce wasnt gluten free and she came back with a menu and i swapped out my sauce. It was delicious!!!
Tonight i tried something other than the oval and pasta for the first time in years. I ordered the crabby fries with the burnt ends small plate and it was excellent!
I love this place. If it were closer I would go weekly. Tons of options though I usually get the pueblo burger. Sometimes service is slow (if you get a milkshake, order it when you sit down), but I have 100% confidence in the safety of this place. I’ve been at least 20 times with no issues.
I asked for gluten free. I was told there were gluten free ovals. The waitress came back after I ordered my oval, saying the gluten free ovals are in the oven next to gluten crust, no separately baked gluten free. So, I ordered a gluten free wrap. The waitress came back to say the kitchen was not sure if the wrap was really gluten free, if I really needed that, instead of just wanted gluten free. I told her I have celiac, she suggested a salad. When it arrived, I asked if it was gluten free, and she went back in the kitchen to ask. No markings on it as gluten free. I ate here about 8 years ago, was very illl after, and will never go back. Not sure why so many people love it, as I had 2 negative experiences.
We had the fried mozzarella, eggplant rollatini, and chicken parm. All was delicious. Server was knowledgeable about the kitchen. Their gf pizzas are cooked on the same surface as the gluten containing pizzas so high CC possible. ETA: we’ve eaten here a 2nd time while visiting PA, and it was just a phenomenal as we remembered. Great variety, great food, and great service.
They have TONS of different gluten free options. One of my favorite local places. I have been here several times. The menu is marked perfectly with what is gluten free and what isn’t. All of the food is marked when they bring it out. The food is phenomenal. I recommend the gluten free chicken fingers. I do recommend getting there early in the evening or trying to make a reservation. They get full fast.
I got glutened here- pay attention to your food and whether or not it is marked gf. All gf food SHOULD be marked/flagged. I ordered everything gluten-free and my server, an older gentleman, assured us we would be fine, but my husband noticed when they brought out the pizza and wings that they were not flagged with little sticks or any type of sticker indicating gluten free. When we asked the server, he checked the system and said oh yeah, that’s my fault. I never put anything in as gluten-free so this is all glutened. Obviously we were upset because I had already eaten some of it, and according to our server, they refused to take any of the food off of the bill and we ended up leaving extremely frustrated. Not what we expected with all the great reviews but please be careful
Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for the valuable feedback. This is not a common occurrence here at Ron's and we are very shocked to say the least. We take all of our Gluten-Free requests VERY seriously and absolutely mark any and all gluten-free dishes accordingly. I would love to dig into this issue further and figure out where we made the misstep. Please reach out to us at [email protected] so that we can look into this further. Thank you!
Eaten here about a dozen times since diagnosis. My dear friend has eaten here for 10+ years. Both of us have CD. Tons of gf options….even crab cakes, gf breading, gf garlic bread, ovals (their version of flatbread pizzas) etc etc. Staff is aware and clearly communicates. Ovals and Chicken Parm are excellent!
This place is the real deal. One of the best gluten free restaurants I've been to in the USA. I travel for work to different states and am able to try a lot of new spots. A family member of the owner has celiac, so they understand cross contamination and take it seriously. The Cheesesteaks, wow!!!! Dedicated fryer: fried chicken, fries, fried cheese (by far the best I've had gf),, wings etc. There are nearly endless options of food, pizza, sandwiches, italian, salads, burgers, cheesesteaks, etc I drove 30 minutes from my hotel multiple nights in a row it was so good.
Edit: definitely top 3 of any gluten free place I've been to. 9.3/10. Must travel to try, it's that good.
Wow. Best gluten free food I've found outside of Disney. Maybe better than that. Chicken strips, fries, nachos, fried provolone an desserts. Raspberry cheesecake, key lime cheesecake, chocolate mousse and peanut butter bombs. All gluten free. A long drive for us (2 hours from home), but worth it.
SO many options and amazing food! GF and GF available options are very clearly marked on the menu, food came out flagged, and the waitress even mentioned that her celiac sister makes the trip up here to eat all the time. I got the Philly cheesesteak on a gf bun and it was amazing! Will definitely be back next time I’m in town
this place was amazing! in town visiting my sister. wanted to try a cheesesteak while in pennsylvanian. it was SO delicious. the gluten free bread was not too dry or dense. it was the perfect size. our server even asked if i wanted to enjoy some gluten free fries. which were also good. the menu is huge but the gluten free things have a green “GF” next to it. they are super considerate and knowledgeable. when my food came out my plate had a green sticker as well saying “gluten free”. and in the french fries there was a toothpick that said “gluten free.” would definitely go here again!!
random. but i don’t think the ranch is gluten free. my sister was using it and looked too good. and it’s homemade. so would definitely ask about that.
The cheese steaks are quality. The meat is so tasty and generous and well cheesed. The roll is a little different from the traditional, and a touch sweet, but it’s the only time I eat a gf roll. It’s solid. And they make fried mozz that is excellent. The eggplant and salads are also solid.
It should be said. The pickup situation is excellent. If you do curbside it’s a whole different section, well run. I’m gonna keep coming back.
I’ve eaten here several times with no issues, however there was one time I ordered a gf reuben sandwich and I had a pretty bad night. I don’t blame the restaurant because everyone knows there’s always a chance of cross-contact when eating out. I still go here and enjoy their food. GF Pastas and sandwiches are the best
Love Ron’s!! You can customize almost anything to be gluten free! One of my favorite spots to eat, lots of GF options!
I wasn’t sure about trying Ron’s after seeing conflicting reviews but I’m glad we went. The atmosphere is cozy and interesting. The menu offers a lot of options marked gluten-free or gluten-free available, including things you rarely find, I.e. meatloaf, crab cakes. I had chicken piccata, which was good with large portions; two of us could easily have shared it. The waiter was conscientious and took good care of us despite being very busy. My husband, who is not gluten-free, enjoyed it. We’re both glad we visited here.
We are regulars at Ron’s, but have noticed that our celiac daughter seems bothered by the GF pizza and hot GF sandwiches here, because the oven and the grill is shared. I asked if they could make her a GF grilled cheese in tin foil to avoid any gluten from the grill and they very rudely said they do not make special orders and cannot guarantee that their food is fully GF because “there’s flour everywhere. It’s a shared kitchen”. This annoys me on several levels - the rudeness, the lack of concern for providing great customer service, but most importantly that they heavily promote their GF options when in fact they make no effort to avoid cross contamination.
They have an extensive menu with clearly marked GF and GF optional items. Staff was knowledgeable. Food was delicious and service was quick. I was in Exton for the weekend and I went here for dinner two nights in a row because of all the options. I highly recommend the quinoa salad and burgers!
