Great service and great options. I had fried calamari and fish tacos. They have breaded fish, GF buns, GF pasta. Must try!

Lots of variety on their menu. They are very careful. They told me if your food doesn't come out on a green plate to notify them. I had the Grouper on a gluten free bun. It was good. They have several GF desserts you don't typically see on a menu for us. I had the GF Carrot Cake and it was the best carrot cake I've ever had.

Fantastic food with a very extensive gluten free menu. They even have gluten free chicken fingers. There was something for everyone.

It was amazing. They could make so many of their items gluten free. It was marked on the menu and they had a variety of options.

Ordered gluten free pancakes. Glad it was only 2 in my order because they were truly dry and crumbly.

Dedicated fryer. I wrote a good previous review but am amending it. The last two times we went here, my food came out and was not gf as ordered. My husband was done with his meal by the time mine came out. Good thing we asked before eating!

Food is mediocre at best. Got poached eggs, gf toast, skillet potatoes, sausage patties, and a gf pancake. Do not waste your money on gf pancakes here. Dry with zero flavor. No hot syrup offered. Food was delivered lukewarm (my husbands as well). Service is also mediocre. No smiles and no personality. Will take my business elsewhere next time. Only perk? Didn’t get sick. 🫤

I’m celiac-Best gluten gluten-free breakfast ever — have eaten here 4 days and no issues
— Gluten-free items are marked on the main menu
I haven’t had fish and chips since I found out I was celiac years ago, so when I found out that Skillets has them (and a dedicated frier) I had to come. They were delicious! Unlike some fish and chips, they were not greasy, so I didn’t have a stomach ache after. There is also GF carrot cake which I got to go. For those of you wanting breakfast there are GF pancakes and waffles. I wish I was going to be here longer so I could try all their GF items!

They have plenty of gluten-free options; pancakes, waffles, toast & French toast. The atmosphere is great. The food was good my over medium eggs were not jellied in the middle like an over medium egg would be but not very many people in this world I've noticed seems to know how to get in between the over easy and over hard. The gluten-free bread was soft and full of flavor. I bet that the gluten-free bread would be good on a french toast if they spice it properly. The grits were really good and full of buttery flavor. They only gave me like maybe a quarter to a half a cup of grits in a bowl. But between the two over easy that we're supposed to be over medium eggs, two slices of gluten-free toast and the small bowl of grits were enough to be filling. It was $11 for the three items, with a cup of hot water (they allowed me to add my own green tea). The customer service sucked throughout the whole place though. My waitress was not rude but not pleasant if that makes sense. She was not happy friendly wanting to help me. It was more like she's just there because she has to be. The lady at the front was very disconnected emotionally. I noticed that there's no gluten-free indicators on the menu at all so I went back up front and asked if they had a gluten-free menu and she told me to go look at the menu it's on there. The only thing indicated on that menu for gluten-free is a little tag at the bottom that says gluten-free options available talk to your server. The server was very knowledgeable about gluten-free options. She did not reassure me that my items were gluten free even after telling her that I'm allergic to wheat. I had to question and ask again to make sure that it was gluten free & safe. The atmosphere is great it's like a 50s diner with music to match. It's just the people down to the potential of the atmosphere. No one was lively or happy that worked there at all. It always shows when people are happy to be at work and when people aren't. Since it's cold and raining outside I decided to go back in and change into warmer clothes and I told the woman at the front that I would like to go back into the restroom and change into something more comfy and she just responded oh that's fine without even looking up at me. I smiled and looked at her and happily said that's a lot more comfy now in this. She just kind of grunted again without even looking up. I don't know what's happened to this world but I really would like to find a place where I can encounter happy friendly people.

Options on the menu are marked gluten free. They have a dedicated fryer, and offer gluten free fish and chips, fried chicken and fries. My son with gluten and dairy restrictions was able to have fried chicken which was prepared special to make it fully dairy free. I had the French Dip sandwich. Felt safe with celiac and would eat there again.

Waiter is very clear about what can be made gluten free and how. Information is also available on the menu. I mentioned my allergy to my server and my food came out on a green plate to mark the gluten free status. I ate from the breakfast menu, so I can’t speak to the quality of fried items, but the website says they have dedicated gf fryers.

So good! I brought along a gf bagel (from the G-free spot!!) to put my eggs etc on, but I was thrilled to see they had gf bread on their menu, along with gf pancake & quesadilla options. The quesadilla was delicious (regular corn tortilla) and I loved the potatoes! Everyone loved what they ordered and I felt safe eating there. Waiter was happy to help with allergy.

Had a lovely bacon egg and cheese on gf bread. The bread held together and didn’t fall apart. The egg was a real egg, not the fake stuff you sometimes get. The potatoes were good. Easy online ordering. Prepared quickly. Very pleased!

Their food was good. We had dinner salads and they made the way I indicated in my online order.
The bad part was that I tried to place the order by phone so I could ask questions. They were so incredibly rude telling me they didn’t take orders by phone. I can’t remember the last time a restaurant was that rude. I went ahead and ordered online because a Sunday in Hilton Head, SC is a hard time to pick up dinner salads at lunchtime. And how hard is it to make dinner salads?
I won’t be back. Any restaurant that won’t talk to me by phone and answer my questions isn’t safe.

Good GF selections including pancakes and waffles. Not a separate menu. Had eggs with potatoes which were baked instead of skillet fried. Very good. Only one piece of a gf bread with meal. Costs extra for the bread. Appeared to be Udis .

Do they accommodate gluten free? Yes. Is the food good? Not really. Had the pasta and sweet potato fries; pasta and chicken on it was soggy and flavorless, but the fries were good. Boyfriend had calamari and fish, the former of which was great but the latter was also lacking flavor. Not worth the money.

They had numerous items on the menu marked as “able to be made gluten-free”. They also had two desserts marked as gluten-free, carrot cake and German chocolate cake. They have a dedicated fryer so I was able to get fried shrimp and French fries. Sadly they didn’t have a gluten-free version of hush puppies but I wasn’t surprised by that. My food came out on a special green plate (instead of white) so it was obvious that my food was gluten-free. It wasn’t the best gluten-free fried shrimp that I’ve had but it was a corn flour-based batter which was novel. I am very sensitive to cross contamination and didn’t get sick. I will definitely go back.

Skillets is amazing. There’s a tremendous variety of GF options, including waffles. I decided to have one of the skillet entrees, although it came on a plate (rather than in a skillet), I assume for safety). It was enormous and delicious. They provided GF bread as well, and it was quite tasty. Bonus: they are very dog friendly, which was wonderful because we ate there on our way home and had our dog with us. They even have a dog menu, so our pup could have a meal too.

The food was delicious. I went there twice during the week of thanksgiving because of how serious one server talked about their gluten free protocol. They were very knowledgeable about celiac disease and gluten sensitivities. Their gluten free foods come out on green plates so they don’t get confused with gluten foods. There isn’t a gluten free menu but a lot of their dishes can be made gluten free by request. There’s a dedicated gluten free fryer. I had the fried chicken and French fries and I almost cried because of how good it was. They have two gluten free desserts, German chocolate cake and carrot cake that they get from The G-Free Spot (a gluten free bakery on the island). I had the German chocolate cake the first time I ate there and it was very good. I had no symptoms either time. The environment was very homey and welcoming. I highly recommend eating there.

Wonderful experience at Skillets and highly recommend! When food was delivered I verified it was the GF toast (couldn’t tell by appearance), server said it was and explained they color code plates for GF and if you order GF and it doesn’t come out on a green plate, don’t touch it!

Tons of GF options! We went for dinner twice (note they were only open Fri-Mon for dinner when I visited). Food was typical beach/diner style with many choices including GF fried everything (calamari, shrimp, chicken, fries, etc). My celiac son liked his club sandwich & fries so much we went back twice. GF food came out on different colored plates (green) which I always appreciate too.

I had GF fish & chips. Wife had GF fried chicken. Tell them you need gluten free and they can fry just about anything you want she said. Service was good. Pleasant place. Gluten free fried chicken was good - that's rare. They use finely ground cornmeal which was alot better than I expected.

Very busy, but great service. Good food. Ate here for breakfast and dinner. Knowledge about gluten-free. They checked and their gf pancake batter contains corn so I wasn't able to eat it but my kids did. They got gf chicken and waffles, banana foster, fried fish, tater tots. Dedicated fryer. I had the seafood trio.. very good. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. This was our third time there. Great place.

This was probably one of the best experiences we have had on the Island. We did take our dog who was very pleased with the puppy menu. All GF food came out on a different colored plate. I had no hesitation regarding the safety of our food. The waiter was knowledgeable, items were clearly marked. We actually had calamari for breakfast as 3 of us have not had it in a very long time. My 17 yo described it as “beast mode”.

I NEVER write reviews, but we found a staple in my water. The staff was not very helpful in righting this situation. They gave us a chocolate cake for dessert to make it ok, which I couldn’t even eat, bc it’s not GF. We waited a long time to be seated and requested to be sat outside, and were not, even though there were others outside. My son also has a kids burger and we had to ask several times for his side. GF options were ok, but overall experience was not. Very disappointed.
