The Des Moines Smadhburger is great. I am very sensitive and have had no problems with the ha mburger and fries.
I decided to try this place while traveling based on the app reviews, and I wish I hadn't made the mistake. I was nervous right away when the guy at the register didn't know how to answer any of my questions and had to ask someone else, who did confirm that they - supposedly - take safety precautions with the gluten free orders. Watching the food come out of the kitchen as I waited made me even more nervous seeing how the employees handled everything from one order to the next. I ended up eating my burger and fries against my better judgment, and have been suffering terribly for my mistake. The taste wasn't worth it either - it was fine, but nowhere near great. Do NOT eat here if you have celiac!!! I am so sick!
Smashburger offers hamburgers on Udi’s gluten free buns. They also have a dedicated fryer for fries.

Worth it for the rosemary fries alone. Delicious. Pricey, but a fun splurge now and again
The gentleman up front had no idea. I had to research ingredients on my phone to find out whether it was gluten free or not. Not worth the headache.. and the burger wasn’t worth the $
Awesome burger and fries. Dedicated fryer for fries. Knowledgeable about gluten free. We will be going here again soon.
Was very hesitant to try this place, having seen nightmare kitchen practices at similar places. Let me first say, the gentleman at the register was courteous, kind, and considerate of the fact that I am Celiac and seemed to understand the consequences. I asked about the buns and prep areas, the fryer and the sauces, etc....all of which he had prompt responses to.
I can happily report that I LOVED the mushroom burger on Udis bun I had, and oh my goodness, the Smash fries are almost as good as the ones I make myself😂. But seriously, great food. Separate fryer for you fry lovers, buns are toasted/warmed in a separate appliance from the burger grill, and the cashier let the cook know about the sensitivity order. I can’t say for sure if the cook regloved, but I know they would not hesitate if asked to do so.

Have eaten there numerous times and never had an issue. Staff is knowledgeable.

The people here are so nice!! Wonderful experience, they ran out of gluten free buns but they were so nice I didn’t even care. They were knowledgeable and explained the separate friers and oils. I subtracted a safety heart just because it’s not dedicated gf.
I asked, they said they do not change gloves or take any precaution to limit cc, and fry everything in the same oil, kids working the kitchen and this location in particular is very dirty. Skip!
Staff seemed knowledgeable. I had the burger with gluten free bun and fries. Didn’t get sick or experience any symptoms.
At this location they say they have dedicated fryer and gluten free bun. Charge extra for bun.
