Really really good! No, it’s not exactly the same but as someone quite new to GF (to still remember all the gluten goodness), I was rather impressed and would happily eat here even if I had a magic fix.
Very clear info on their menu and while they’re transparent about it not being a GF kitchen, that goes a long to having confidence for me. That most of their products are GF helps too.
I cannot believe we found GF chicken nuggets that taste “normal”! Seems like only gluten is the sandwiches. The employee at our register was very knowledgeable and friendly. Assured us that they use a separate fryer for anything not gf. It’s not dedicated GF so considered Gluten-friendly I guess.
The original chicken tenders and almost all the sauces are gluten free! The tenders, fries, coleslaw, honey mustard sauce, ranch sauce, and bbq sauce all came out gluten-free when tested with my Nima sensor.
The staff is not the most knowledgeable. They website says the wings are gluten-free but the staff said it wasn’t (not sure if that’s true or not). The tenders and fries are fried in a separate fryer. I’ve been back twice so far with no issues! I would definitely recommend.
I am so glad we discovered this place! We ended up going to 2 different locations in the San Francisco area during our vacation. GF chicken strips, including orange chicken, which my celiac daughter loved! I enjoyed the Nashville hot chicken strips and some of their chicken tacos (which come with either flour or corn tortillas). Please open up locations in Minnesota!
I’ve eaten at many Starbird locations and never been sick. Since this one opened, I’ve been several times. I generally get tenders or nuggets with the slaw, as some locations have the fries and churros cooked in the same frier (though I’ve never had an issue when I’ve eaten the fries and am generally quite sensitive). Absolutely my favorite place to get chicken, and the staff at this location are friendly and willing to answer any questions, from my experience.
This place used to be the place to go for a quick GF meal for fried chicken and fries. I just learned that the fries are now fried in a shared fryer with churros. So now only the chicken is gluten free.
Not sure if this is the case at all locations or will always be the case but you should definitely ask if you go there. The introduction of more non-gf items makes me uncomfortable too as it increases the odds of cross contamination.
Also the vegan chicken, desserts, and buns are not gluten free last I checked. Their menus do not show this clearly. You must go to the allergens page or ask.
I've eaten here, and other Starbird locations, at least a dozen times over the past few years and I've never had a reaction. Good quality fried chicken with a wide variety of sauces, and best of all, Starbird lists allergy info for their entire menu:

Not everything is gluten free, but the majority of the menu is safe and clearly labelled. I like the Nashville hot tenders with star sauce and Greek yogurt ranch, and the chop, cobb, and elote salads. The fries are okay - could be crispier in my opinion.
Bottom line - if you're craving fried chicken or need a late night takeout option, Starbird hits the spot!
BEST GLUTEN FREE FRIED CHICKEN EVER! I frequent this location because the quality of the food is so amazing. The chicken is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I always get the chicken strips and fries. (skip the slaw, it’s gf just gross haha) Most of their sauces are gluten free - the star sauce and ranch are my favorites! I never get sick and that’s a miracle considering how tasty this chicken is. Be sure to order at the counter with an employee, not at the kiosk. This way you can add a note to ask them to change their gloves. Add this to your list of places to try, you certainly won’t regret it!
