Wait staff and cook line not knowledgeable about celiac and gluten free. Their chili and coleslaw are supposed to be gluten free and I had the most violent reaction I have ever had after eating these food items at Steak N Shake. I will never take a chance eating there again. Must have been cross contamination of some sort.
No
I LOVE this restaurant!!! Why? Cuz *unlike* McDonald's, the fries at Steak N Shake *are* gluten-free!!!!!!!!!!! I take off the bun of their steakburgers, and eat them too; NO fillers in the hamburger patties. Also, because I eat low-FODMAP, knowing there are no onions, garlic, or other spices added to the meat that would cause problems...is huge!! They don't have fillers and junk used in their meat; a rarity in chain restaurants nowadays. I'm seeing no problems from eating their burgers without a bun....so I eat their fries with their burgers (bunless).....and it's awesome food!!! Highly recommended.

Not gluten friendly at all. Automated ordering system with little help available from employees. No option to add allergies to order. Was told just to "order without a bun and it will be fine".

The food isn't awful. The GF items are very, very, very limited. Chili, deluxe chili, some sides, soft drinks and tea. No dessert, no burgers, not even salads really because of CC. Honestly, if I had the opportunity to choose, I would not choose here.

Ordering without the bun did well for me. Told them I was celiac and they changed their gloves etc. Fries ARE gluten free.

Online it says they have gluten free but when I asked they said none of their food is gluten free. Don’t waste your time.
