Zero sauces are gluten free, the ones that are not marked with gluten include soy sauce (containing gluten). Eat your meat dry! The fryer is shared, several of the sides are not safe. The only thing I was sure wasn’t going to hurt me was the chocolate peanut butter bourbon milkshake. If you feel like living dangerously, this is the place!

We are here for years and I would find myself sick often. I blamed it on the fact that I’m a big fry gal and would eat their fries even though they didn’t have a gf fryer. I found out a few months ago that though I was told all their sauces were gluten free they actually contain soy sauce and were not gluten free. 🙃 So disappointed that the information they shared with me was incorrect.

Food was amazing! Staff was very helpful however they didn’t completely understand celiac. I got the brisket and rib with green beans and potato salad. Brisket was amazing! Ribs where good but slightly overshadowed by the brisket. My mom got the brisket with baked beans and potato salad; she said the baked beans tasted malty, she doesn’t have celiac however and said they where good.

Nothing written anywhere about what's GF. You have to ask. Supposedly all meats are GF but very few sides are and only one person in the busy, cluttered kitchen seemed to know which ones. They're all sort of slopped around together so cross contamination seems likely.

If I could give zero stars I would this restaurant will not take a order over the phone I was told that I could just come in and wait even though I told them I didn’t have time to come into the store and make an order. they do not offer any gluten-free options other than to just not get a bun. When other sugar fire restaurants have gluten-free buns.

I had the pulled pork plate. We told the guy that I couldn't have gluten and he said "Oh let me change my gloves" which I thought was awesome. Potato salad and baked beans are also gluten free and all sauces except 3 are gluten free. Was great to have a regular meal and not have to worry about gluten or cross contamination. Food was great!

Staff were very knowledgeable about what was GF, told me exactly what was safe and what was not safe. Not all sauces are GF but they will tell you what is. Food was good, fun atmosphere. Had the baby back ribs, coleslaw and beans. They also have high noon.

I'm new to GF eating (NCGS), and eating out is a stressful situation for me at the moment. The staff at Sugarfire were fantastic. I inquired about gluten free options on the sides and the workers knew in a second what had gluten in it and what didn't. I don't know for certain of the fryers are dedicated or not, but I didn't have any problems with my French fries (they also serve hush puppies). You get a TON of food there and it's all excellent.

As long as you don’t get a sandwich, there are a lot of menu options, all of the meats and sauces were said to be gluten free. They have daily side dishes not listed on the menu and they were labeled which were GF. I chose the cole slaw and au gratin potatoes and also had the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was dry, but otherwise everything tasted great and had good sized portions (although a little pricey).

The staff didn’t seem to know what was gluten free and what wasn’t. Three different staff said three different things about the sauces. I had the turkey without sauce and coleslaw, which were both good and so far haven’t gotten sick.
Ate there 2/1/19. Food was tasty but I thought expensive for the amount that you receive. Ordered the turkey, baked beans and cole slaw. my daughter had pulled pork, hash brown casserole and baked beans. We both were sick so either the beans had something with gluten in them or were not good. Did not change their gloves when handling our meat. No one else that ate with us became sick but they are not gluten free either.
Excellent food! Staff was knowledgeable on gluten free. Meat was all gluten free, fries were in a shared fryer so they were no GF. They did not have GF buns but the meat was great plain with their bbq sauces.
All meats gluten free and the staff is knowledgeable. Just be careful of cross contamination!
Cross contamination like non-other. They will tell you it’s gluten free but then you watch the employee place the buns in the toaster and turn around lift the lid and grab the meat with his hands. All the meat is cross contaminated now. Not Celiac friendly at all...sat with my family and watched them eat. Celiac sucks!
No
The staff was very knowledgeable and when they weren’t sure about an ingredient they looked it up. All the meats and most sauces are GF. The meat server changed his gloves and opened new packages of meats for me because he felt it was safer. Many sides are also GF. I had a 2 meat combo with turkey, ribs, coleslaw and baked beans. The food was delicious. The ribs were outstanding. Sauces were good but mostly sweet.
Yes
Great food, a ton of sauce options, and the staff knows exactly what to do. The only non-gluten free sauces were the Carolina mustard sauce and the Alabama white sauce, everything else was safe (and again, SO many options!). I had the ribs, coleslaw, and potato salad.

If the right staff is working, this place is super helpful! (Some didn’t know what was gf but one guy was extremely knowledgeable and helpful) was able to eat most sides and most of the bbq sauces. Food was spectacular.
Delicious meats and several side and sauce options. Yum!

I was a bit timid going here due to the lack of a gluten free menu. However when I got to the counter, I told them I couldn’t eat gluten, and asked if they could change their gloves before serving the food. The staff responded immediately with clarifying the severity of my allergy (gluten sensitivity or celiac disease?). I was low key thrilled that they knew of celiac disease and were able to serve me accordingly. The meat is separate from the sauce, and all the sauce is gluten free except the white/cream sauce I believe (always ask them for clarification as they may rotate sauces). I highly recommend the pulled pork with the coffee bbq sauce! Also, there are some gf sides that they were able to provide, which is always incredible when it’s not a side sale or fruit like I’m used to (hehe!). Again, ask for clarification on which sides are gf as they may rotate. Celiac safe!!
Yes
SOOOOOOOO delicious. There's no other way to describe the food AND sauce. I went up to the counter, asked about GF and the workers immediately changed gloves without me asking. That says everything. Oh man, it was good.
Homemade chips are GF.
Yes
Make sure to ask or read ingredients not all of the sauces are gf
Yes
Awesome and you CAN try so many sauces! AVOID the Carolina and white sauces, they contain gluten. The chef came out and went through every item I could eat.
White BBQ sauce.....Awesome!
Good food. I recommend ribs. They seem to be the lowest risk for cross contamination as well
All of the meat, dark sauces, and sides are GF! It was soooooo tasty! Its cafeteria style so you go up with a tray, get your food, pay, and sit wherever. We found seats quickly on a Friday evening with a large party on a Friday night. Lots of different sauces and really cool atmosphere! If you're staying downtown it's easy to walk there so we loved it!
all meats are GF. Dark sauces are as well.
Yes
It was beyond delicious! They have lots of Gluten Free options and have them CLEARLY marked on their menu. They changed their gloves, knife and cutting board when I told them I was gluten free. Only desserts gluten free are the milkshakes. But overall it's AMAZING 👏

I mentioned being gluten free and they immediately got a new cutting board, knife, and unopened meat. They were down to their last brisket of the night and knew they had touched it after touching buns. I appreciated them letting me know and being so careful about it.

When I mentioned I had celiac the server immediately changed his gloves and got a clean knife and cutting board without my asking. There are several gluten free items on the menu. I understand many of the sauces are gluten free as well, although I ate my meat plain. All the meat is gluten free. Very tasty. No issues. Will definitely eat there again!

This place is amazing! The manager was extremely knowledgeable and informed me they have a dedicated fryer as soon as I mentioned I am gluten free! She also advised all of the sauces except for the hot are also gf. Had a delicious pulled pork meal with hot, fresh fries.
