Do not be fooled by their menu that has things marked as gluten free. When I asked about having them change their gloves before prepping my food, my waitress responded “look I’m gonna be honest with you, everything is going to be contaminated. We only have one flat top grill that everything is cooked on and one prep area. Gluten touches everything.” She had a manager come talk to me and she said all the same things the waitress said. The only thing “safe” was the chips and queso because they have a dedicated fryer. I’m glad I asked about switching gloves though because when I was ordering my food and asked for the gluten free alternatives and told her I had a severe gluten allergy, she said NOTHING about the cross contamination.
I was so excited to try this place on my trip to Dallas, but I wouldn’t not recommend it if you are celiac. The waitress was super reassuring while I was ordering that they are really careful about allergies and cross contamination, and they even said they had a separate fryer. I ordered a gf flatbread and sweet potato fries, and as they were putting all our food in front of us the manager came out and said “if you have an allergy I wouldn’t eat that. We can’t guarantee it is gluten free” like most restaurants say for liability purposes. I grilled her on the precautions they take with the flatbread (separate area, change of gloves, made with toppings from a separate area, made on a separate sheet in the oven). She also told me that they fried normal gluten items in their gf fryer that day, so I couldn’t eat the fries either. Because I felt pretty confident in the precautions they described for making the pizza, I decided to take it home and eat it the next morning. I immediately started feeling sick after I ate it, and now even a day later I feel horrible. I’ve never had a reaction this bad. If you’re just gf for preference this might be a good place for you, but if you’re celiac I wouldn’t recommend if.
Amazing ! I am from Michigan but come here every few months! Dedicated gluten free fryer! Try the fried buffalo chicken tacos or the brisket queso Fries!
So good! Lots of gluten free options and fryer is dedicated gluten free. Get the white queso with brisket. Amazing.
Dedicated Fryer!!!!!!!!
Great food. Several items marked on the menus but many others available GF. Several ciders and Omission Beers. Staff is knowledgeable and willing to ask if not sure.
Great spot before/after a show at the Granada....or anytime really. Plus it’s a great brunch spot.
I'm visiting from Phoenix and tried Sundown out on a Thursday night. I expressed I'm a celiac and needed help with selecting gluten free foods. On recomendation, we oredered the avocado appetizer, one of each flavor. I also got the cucumber tini and a mojito. One of those items had a slice of of Wonder bread amount of gluten in it. While the wait staff was super friendly, and the food was delicious, I got wrecked by things that we all thought should be gluten free. If this were Yelp, I'd give this restaurant a 5 out of 5. But for gluten sensitive I have to not recommend as safe.
Tough on the budget and a "hip" place but the food was wonderful! The avocado app is amazing!
Really interesting variety of food. Some good GF options. Nice environment, great for a date.
The Chef here is not only very knowledgeable about food Allergies, but also knows how to cook Mouth Watering Food. The Flatbreads (my Fave) on GF crust are all delicious. They offer GF Hamburger buns for all of their tasty burgers, and are now offering GF waffles (all from Unrefined Bakery) Soo many delectable options......I'll keep coming back. If you haven't been, it's worth the drive
Amazing. The Big Bang dish on the brunch menu was brilliant and it's naturally GF and vegan! Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. I'm looking to go back tomorrow it was so amazing! Great find. Strongly recommend.
The flat bread pizza was amazing. Can hardly wait to go back and try the burger with fresh GF buns.
