Tried to eat here and after ordering, they let me know fries were cross contaminated and all hotdogs buns are cooked on the SAME grill!! There’s nothing gluten free about this restaurant at all. They don’t even try to take precautionary measurements! If you’re in the Buffalo area and you want a hotdog, go to Franks! Everything there is SAFE!
My 13 year old daughter ordered a cheeseburger. As we were walking up to the counter I heard the cook to tell one of the other employees to change their gloves. She would be responsible for handling my daughter’s food from start to finish. It’s now been 4 hours and my daughter is healthy. In regards to options. She cannot have any of the fried foods but she can have a hotdog or hamburg. She said it was very good. You know coming from a teenager, that’s really a compliment.
I had a bad experience two years ago at the Teds on Sheridan but today’s service was amazing. They changed cooking utensils, cleaned the grill, changed gloves, and got condiments from the back that had no chance of cross contamination. They advised me that the fries were not gluten free but the milkshakes were. I am as definitely pleased with the service and care provided today and my stomach enjoyed it too!
4/13/17 Tried a cheeseburger on a gluten free bun and it was great. I watched the bun come out of a plastic wrapper and the employee change gloves before handling my burger. GF bun was soft and very good. French fries are not gluten free.
4/16/16 I've always loved Ted's hot dogs, but this was my first one since going gluten free. The gf bun was not very good. Taste of it was ok but texture was not soft like a normal bun. Maybe it was stale.
Delicious hot dogs! The buns are from Kinnikinick I think. They almost always remember to change gloves when you ask for gluten free, on occasion you have to remind them. A char-broiled hot dog is a fabulous thing. I tried to order fries once, and they promptly told me they're fried in the same fryer as breaded stuff.
Hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken, and sausages are gluten free. They also have Udi's gluten free buns. If you ask them to change their gloves, they will, but since they generally have young kids working there, you have to keep an eye on them to make sure they don't handle gluten again before your food. Sometimes they will have a gluten free side like potato salad, but most of the time I can't eat sides there. I also don't get condiments because the knives they use touch rolls and then go back into the containers. I put my toppings on at home. You can eat here but just have to be very careful.
I had something that didn’t make me feel like I was denying myself of a real treat for the first time in a very long time. My family took me to Ted’s Hot Dogs, to celebrate something that only the 3 of us could appreciate as a day in our lives that we are hoping to remember forever. I had a great Hot Dog just like the good old days and I didn’t have to worry about being sick when I got home. A GLUTEN FREE HOT DOG.
