food came out with a plate on top for safety, but i was a little freaked out when my parm had crumbs when it used to be “naked” chicken years ago (had not been in a while). mediocre quality, didnt eat much from my meal - gave it to my brother. wouldn’t choose to go back, personally!
I have a Casein allergy and my pasta had cheese on it. This was takeout and the manager argued with Me and hung up the phone. I ordered with Special instructions but he said no instructions were with the order. He offered for me to go there and pick up another order. The only way to get cheese on this pasta is to request it. I’m perplexed.
I did an Uber eats order for the first time for this restaurant. It’s very close to where I live. There was some mixup but the restaurant called me about eight minutes after I placed the order to confirm that I had the gluten allergy that I had put on the salad I was ordering. When I got the food, I was confused, but I looked up the item and saw it was exactly what I ordered.. the salad and the beef pasta peas was very good tasty zero issues
Everything is done perfectly here. When I said I had a gluten allergy, the manager came over and explained what precautions they take to avoid any cross contaminations. When my food came out, it was in a different plate and covered to avoid any additional contamination. Will be going back here a lot for gf Italian food
My 9 year old daughter has celiac so we eat GF as an entire family. We ordered by phone for pick-up and our ordered was confirmed GF by the manager. We ordered 2 pizzas, roasted wings, a chopped salad and chicken ziti broccoli and everything was excellent. We just moved to the area and will be eating there regularly.
I came here the very first night I was going fully gluten free after learning of my diagnosis, so I was a bit nervous. They immediately put me at ease with their clear knowledge and number of gluten free options. I got the chicken parm, which also came with gluten free pasta and was delicious. They also, without my asking, offered me a gluten free roll since they typically provide free bread to guests (which I appreciated since I used to take full advantage of free bread). The manager also came out to explain their methods and clarify that the chicken parm would still be gluten free even though it would “look like there’s real breadcrumbs on it.” Very accommodating and made me free very safe!
Edit: I’ve since gotten delivery multiple times and not only haven’t gotten sick but can also confirm the meal is always clearly marked with an allergy sticker. I’ve still only eaten the chicken parm but it’s just so good I can’t resist getting it every time!
I’ve been coming to Chateau for years. It’s not fine dining. It’s red sauce Italian comfort food. Christenings, funerals, birthdays, this is where you go. The bread and toasted ravs are no longer an option for me, but I’ve had good experiences with their gluten free options. Takeout has been clearly labeled as gluten free / allergy. In the restaurant, a manager came over to explain that he would oversee the meal and that my chicken parm used gluten free breadcrumbs. These could be left off as well. Food was good and hit the spot. My meal had a cover over it with a label (assume it indicated allergy) and was opened once it was placed in front of me. No crumbs jumping into my dish from my gluten eating kids. They seem to have a good system in place and take this seriously.
Had a pretty large gluten free menu. Staff was really knowledgeable about how the dish would be made gluten free. Got the gluten free chicken parm and the roasted wings. Both were great.
Felt very comfortable here. Gluten free menu including drink choices—many options. Staff reassured that items ordered were from the gluten free menu. A definite keeper!
When I told the waitress that I have a gluten allergy (celiac), they sent over a manager. They evidently do this for all allergies. There was a GF roll, and delicious GF chicken parm (no breading) with GF penne. Delicious sauce too - you can see why this place is a Boston institution. Very old world Boston Italian. And best of all - no gluten reaction!
Two in our party had food poisoning after eating at the Waltham restaurant. We called the manager to report their unsafe food handling. He senied it saying we must have food alergies!
Good selection of gluten free meals, manager came over and made sure I knew they would make my meal carefully to avoid cross contamination. Great food and very friendly staff!
Lots of options and the management was fantastic with making sure there was no cross contamination.
Pretty decent selection of GF foods. I have several other food allergies as well and waitress brought the manager over to discuss my allergies. Manager spoke to the chef directly. No problems accommodating. Food was just okay but totally appreciate the extra care to make sure we were safe. I would go back again.
This place is fantastic! I enjoyed the rolls, and when the server saw the GF menu, she was quick to bring over the manager. They assured me that they use separate utensils, cookware, everything in the back. My food even came out covered with another plate to ensure no contamination.
Gf bread roll, amazing chicken broccoli penne, and much care on behalf of the staff. Excellent meal, reasonable price, deliciously gluten free.
Was here visiting from Rochester for the Needham Soccer Tournament and absolutely loved my GF sautéed broccoli and chicken pasta. Service was great and I got a bonus of a nice GF roll as I watched my wife and kids destroy 2 baskets of Italian bread. They loved their meals too!!
AMAZING! Several Options. A little bland, but most chefs are scared when you list allergies. They use Heartland GF Pasta products. The meal comes out with server (in leu of manager) but has another plate on top with a purple sticker! BRILLIANT! I now have a weekly staple in my dinners!
We've dined her quite a bit with our celiac daughter. She's had the GF pizza, GF parmesan chicken and pasta, Chicken Caesar salad without croutons, and GF Carrot cake.
I, personally, am not a fan of the food here taste wise. Every dish could use more seasoning and the salad are so basic.
However, my daughter has eaten safely here every time.
Update: went today for lunch. All I got is a salad with chicken and within an hour got very sick. Not sure if it was gluten or dairy or cross contact but I won’t be returning anytime soon.
Most of the time this location is great with allergies. They have a good selection for meals and the staff is friendly. There’s always a manager who checks in and makes sure everything is ok.
DO NOT get the steak tips! Like the other review I got glutened from eating the steak tip dinner. Must be in the marinade. First and only time getting sick here.
