Had GF menu, server assured she would inform chef. Wedge salad with bacon and ranch dressing tested as safe and it was good. Meal of filet wrapped in bacon, baked potato with sour cream, and mushrooms, green beans and red peppers tested with gluten according to Nima. Unfortunately I didn’t have another tester with me to check it again and thought maybe the gluten was in the sauce which was served on the side so I avoided the sauce and decided to give the meal a try. Had my typical GI and vertigo symptoms the next day, so it seems Nima was correct. Bummer.
There are options. But only celiac friendly *if you ask the right questions about the fryer and such. I was told the fries are in a shared fryer but should be safe for my celiac son “because it gets up to 350°F which kills the enzyme”, by a kitchen staff member, not wait staff. I said no, they need to be separate, done in the oven, and they had no problem with that. They just don’t seem to be super educated about GF.
Unfortunately this review is coming an entire year later. I really wanted to avoid chain restaurants but I'm so happy I made it here. I can't remember what I had for dinner but I know it was good. When I told my waiter I had celiac disease he went & got the manager. The manager! This was customary! She then spoke with the kitchen about my order, returned to me & gave the ok. I was very impressed. If I ever make it back to Montreal I'm definitely coming back here.
Great meals, great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Manager on duty came to my table to confirm GF food order, and that the message had been passed to the kitchen. It's a bit pricey but highly recommended for a safe and enjoyable meal out.
Knowledgeable staff and gf menu. Waiter was helpful and considerate and manager came over to give added reassurance that he’d speak with kitchen to ensure my food was ok for a coeliac (using that word when is only says gluten free). Hugely reassuring.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Knowledgeable staff. I can’t praise this restaurant highly enough. GF annotations on menu and then TWO managers came and introduced themselves and reassured me about their allergy protocol.
Amazing food. Everything GF, very well attended by Mark. We ordered a Ribs to share. Plate is not cheaper, but worth it, it served 4 adults, even though the waiter said that it is for 3. Very friendly place, very good waiter. And everyone eating a delicious gluten free. Huge satisfaction. My Daughter, who is our lovely celiac, enjoyed the meat and Fries.
We ate here with a Celiac and a Low FODMAP. They did an amazing job of making sure there was no cross contamination. The manager even checked in with us on our allergies. Our best meal in Canada, so far!! We had the mixed lettuce salad with veggies, the NY Strip Steak, Baked Potato, and asparagus with red peppers. Excellent! We may go back again since we are still in town.
I have an allergy to gluten AND soy and the manager was beyond helpful. They were very knowledgeable about allergies. They came out saying the oil contained a trace of soy but they could scrape down the grill for us, which they didn’t and I didn’t get sick. Beyond nice and extremely friendly. Definitely would recommend this place and visit again
Awesome gluten free menu! Wonderful restaurant and atmosphere. I even had cream brûlée for dessert! I had no issues, I do have celiac disease.
Great place. Manager came over to talk to me, let me know all precautions are being followed. and followed up after to see how everything was.
awesome service. Manager comes out. We had 2 different types of steak, fries, Rice, and chicken. Scallops wrapped in bacon for an app. Daughter was able to get a milkshake. Excellent and safe!
Wide selection of GF items on the menu and they are very aware of celiac disease and take all the precautionary measures.
Always feel very comfortable eating at any keg they always take my allergy very seriously! Thank you again for the great service! Had the bacon wrapped scallops to start and then the bacon wrapped chicken with a twice baked potato! Yum yum yum!
This location has recently been renovated and it has an amazing patio. I always eat safely at The Keg. The chicken and ribs are delicious. The manager confirmed my order selections were safe and brought the meal out confirming again that it was made safely. My waitress took my leftover meal to be boxed separately- which I really appreciated. I always let the server know I have Celiac and they always take the necessary precautions.
Always a great experience and they even have dessert!
The managers mom has celiac. He told my waiter and the kitchen staff about my allergy before we even ordered. It was amazing. Most caring staff and the food was FANTASTIC! I wish we had one of these in the United States!
My son has celiac so I was really pleased to see how the waitress and the manager took it seriously. They said for example that the fries that he ordered are done separately in the oven to avoid contamination the food was really good all the family enjoyed it very much.
Host staff and waitstaff not knowledgeable. The chef did come out but I should have known when I told the waitress to write celiac several times during my order that it wouldn’t be safe. It was a work dinner so I took a chance. As we all know, trust your gut, not worth it!
The serving staff and management say all the right things, but was definitely contaminated. Not recommended for celiac.
Great experience! Genuinely felt like incredibly well taken care of at the Keg. The minute I told them that I had Celiac disease the floor manager came out to greet me and also was the one who brought my food to the table, reassuring me that it was all Gluten Free.
Staff friendly and knowledgeable about celiac. My daughter hasn’t eaten at this location and at one in Barrie Ontario and was fine every time. No reactions. Great choice for celiacs
The best place which I could find for my celiac son in our trip. The stuff was very nice and understanding food allergy. The manager came to our table to be sure my son have gluten free meal. She double check if his dessert is peanut free. I was very happy finding this place and recommend to stop there if you are in Toronto. (Food was great, everything fresh made).
The food was delicious and all their gluten free options marked on the menu. On their website they have a special card where all gluten free dishes are listet. We had to wait some minutes longer because they accidentally put croutons on our salad the first time but made us a new one and apologized. For side dishes only their fries aren’t gluten free. It’s really save to eat there because everyone makes sure you get the right food.
Very clearly marked what GF on menu and good selection. Only four stars because chicken was bland. We did not get sick so we were happy😊
Arriving from the UK, we dined at the Keg Mansion on Jarvis and it was perfect. Our server was fabulous, funny, willing to walk us through the menu so my fiancé would eat stress free. Said server (tall glamorous, whose name I forget, apologies), knowledgable herself, even confirmed with the manager, Yvette, to ensure all was well with our choices. The manager even monitored our meal to ensure all was well never making us feel as though we were an inconvenience. So often we get “umms”, eye-rolls, tuts and people kissing their teeth when having to accommodate coeliacs thinking we’re some food-trend newbies, and none of this was present at the Keg Mansion. I would privately thank our server and the manager for their care as it completely changed my fiancé’s dining experience - His night was made. The food was divine, the wine needed and atmosphere as always was perfect. Eternally grateful!
Lovely dinner. The staff was very knowledgeable and we had a manager confirm everything for our order was GF. Very nice date night with my husband!
Great food with plenty of options!
Food was delicious and the staff were careful and knowledgeable. Not a spot for budget dining, but a great place for prime rib or steak.
Absolutely amazing! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and even sent the manager to check in on me! He knew all the ingredients in the food I ordered. Totally put my mind to ease and I definitely enjoyed my food. Would highly recommend this steak house and would go back again!!
Really fantastic, celiac safe, excellent meal. The manager even came out to confirm everything. Very knowledgeable staff. Highly, highly recommend.
Employés formés et sensibilisés à la maladie coeliaque. Ils prennent le "sans gluten" au sérieux.
As a Celiac, I love going to The Keg. As a general rule, they are very meticulous about cross contact. When I order, I always confirm there are no gluten ingredients and they always double check with a manager. On this trip I had the Ribs (so good), and a baked potato (a safe choice). I asked for green beans instead of the coleslaw. The manager brought my food out and reassured me that it was cooked safely. It was a great meal and a nice night out!
What a fabulous experience! We went there today for a romantic night out and my birthday celebration. I have been eyeing this restaurant ever since it opened a few months ago, and today I finally called and asked if they are celiac friendly, since their online disclosure about it is quite confusing. They are however so we came for dinner. Great food, great atmosphere, polite and knowledgeable service and celiac friendly food. I highly recommend The Keg! I saw couples, families with children, groups of friends, so it seems to be a good place for pretty much anyone.
The staff and service was top notch and very kid friendly. The server and manager were both extremely familiar with celiac and took all the right precautions. The food was amazing all around - from appetizers, entrees and desserts. Highly recommend it if you are in Montreal.
Very knowledgeable about celiac and manager came to speak to us about their kitchen practices.
Great service ! Great staff ! Great meal ! The manager came and assured me that everything was celiac friendly. I recommend it !!!
Have been there twice and both times had a great experience. Never had a reaction.
This place was great with many options for my son with Celiac. The server was knowledgeable, the manager comes to speak with you and I think they did a great job. My only concern was the table runners or that person who delivers the food from the kitchen. It wasn’t our server or the manager and they were delivering a gluten meal along with my son’s GF meal. The runner actually placed two meals right in front of my son with celiac and he thought the plate with fries was for him but not celiac safe. He had a few before I realized what had happened. So sort of a bummer that the ball was dropped at the delivery and something to be aware of.
