Not celiac friendly

I have celiac and got sick after eating here. I asked for gluten-free, explaining I have celiac and my order came up with a pile of pita on top of the takeout box. I sent it back and asked for a whole new order.

I get take out from here, and I'm currently very sick. I realized because I don't ask them to change gloves, it must be cross contamination. The only gluten in the store is their tabbouleh and the pita bread - I am super sick from eating a chicken plate so I just feel like even if I asked for a glove change, there is probably flour flying in the air, shared utensils, etc. goodbye for now :(

This place is just "ok". However, they do offer a wide variety of gluten free options! I just found the meat and rice to be very bland, but others seem to disagree. I would definitely give it a try if you are curious enough.

Notes

ALL of our menu items are gluten-free EXCEPT for the pita bread and Tabouleh Salad. Next time you visit, you may ask for "No Bread" on the 'Chicken', 'Plate', or 'Side' items. All wraps are made with pita bread, and therefore contain gluten.

I LOVE this place! I am VERY gluten sensitive and Ive never gotten sick, we eat there once a week. Its true they dont know what GF is, but they dont have to as long as they listen to me when I say NO PITA.I just tell them Im allergic and that its important that that pita is nowhere near my food. Id say its safe to eat there as long as you are clear about the pita.

This place is has less selection of gluten free options than other branvhes. Confirmed with owners and managers. The only thing that is gluten free is anything that is just a clean dry grilled chicken breast. No kebobs, nothing that has a lick of marinade. Other branches like Pasadena is good tho.

Just went into Zankou Chicken in Anaheim. I asked the person taking orders what is gluten free and she had no idea what I was talking about. She went to speak to the manager then came back and told me only the pita bread was gluten free. I thought she was kidding but she wasn’t. I asked to speak to the manager who also told me only the pita bread. I shook my head in disbelief and left. This is not a safe place for celiacs or people with gluten sensitivities to eat.

I wasn't to impressed with what I got. If they had gluten free bread that'd help. It's like a fast food place so I've had much better at restaurants.

Lots of options. We ordered the kabobs, chicken and shish, super good. falafel and hummus were great too.

You ask for no bread, & they put the pita bread right on the chicken, making it inedible! But if you can eat it, it's really good!

Very good food, when I told the cashier to make sure no pita or tabular touched my food she new right away and made extra notes on our order.

Great and popular Mediterranean food even for non-Celiacs. I used to mostly get pita sandwiches, but that obviously won't work anymore. Luckily rice plates and combinations are still fantastic. Don't forget the garlic sauce.

Do it ! Everything here is gluten-free except the pita bread, which is bagged separately - just be sure to mention that you don't want any pita bread

such good chicken! I have no immediately noticeable reaction to gluten, so I can't say anything about cross contamination. but it's nice that they have gluten info on their website.

this location is... lacking. The shawarma isn't nearly as flavorful as the van nuys location, and they need more instructions in order to avoid CC

Best food everything but the Tabbouleh salad and obviously pita bread! Yummy chicken kabobs and awesome garlic sauce I eat here a lot!

Haven't had a problem dating here, food tastes good and it's not expensive. Stay away from the tabbouleh and bread and you are safe!

I don't know if the falafel is actually gluten free. I was excited to hear that "the only items with gluten are pita bread and tabouleh salad" so I are the falafel plate and I was pretty sick after - all the gluten symptoms I usually have. I won't try it again. Plus the falafel was really hard. Not worth it. Hummus was good, though.

Love the food. Super sensitive Celiac hubby has had reactions when we don't ask them to change gloves. However, they will change gloves if you ask and won't give you any grief about it. They use organic eggplant for the muttabal. GF falafel too! We have brought our own chips in to the restaurant to dip in the hummus, etc and no one has ever said anything. It's a super casual, Formica table type joint. We usually just get it to go.

Some of the best tasting chicken around! Most items are GF as it's Mediterranean food. Good stuff!

Mediterranean food, rotisserie chicken, tarna, shawerma, falafel, shish kebob and salads. Very good. Flavorful. Chain of stores on Southern California.

Best chicken in Los Angeles and the only gluten is in the bread which is easily avoided. I'm not vouching for the falafel as I haven't asked what's in it. The garlic sauce is great too.

I've only been to this location but I've yet to get sick. I eat here weekly.
