Decent tacos. Fast service but cross contaminate can happen

Everyone loved the food, except the gluten free kid, but to be honest, she was just in a bad mood. lol

I get takeout from here regularly. The salad and bowls can be made gluten free. You can also get tacos on corn tortillas.
You can specify an allergy when ordering online. The chiltomate salsa is amazing.

I could taste the quality of the ingredients. You can mark gluten-free when ordering from Grub Hub. Felt great after eating it both times and will definitely be coming back.

I asked for a GF menu, but they do not have one. The woman informed me she could make a selection to indicate gluten free when I ordered. However, she then asked if I wanted a flour tortilla đ . They have kiosks you can place your order at as well - which might be better. The food was good. Not something I’d go out of my way for, but if I needed something quick and convenient, it’s great.

Celiac and had no reaction. Ordered fish tacos, chips and Guac, rice and beans. All was good just not the most flavorful. But good quality.

District Taco does an amazing job with gluten free. When ordering on their app or at the kiosk in the restaurant, you can indicate Gluten Free. They change gloves and have strict protocols for GF. They do offer flour tortillas and I asked about cross contamination with the corn tortillas.. they showed me that the corn tortillas and flour tortillas are heated on separate equipment so there is no CC. We really loved eating here prior to Celiac diagnosis and even more so now!!

Most of the taco ingredients here are gluten free, as long as you go with corn tortillas. We specified gluten free in the kiosk ordering system for my son and a staff member came over to check with us about the breakfast taco potatoes he'd selected, because they're cooked in the same fryer as their churros. We opted out of the potatoes and everything was great. Plus, the tortilla chips have a dedicated fryer!
Their online menu has good info about gluten and allergies.

So good and so cute! Even their queso is gf, and staff is really knowledgeable about allergies. Mostly everything they serve is also gf. I had the nachos they were so good!

Knowledgeable staff. Almost all the tacos are gluten-free. The chips are fried in a common fryer but they can set you up with corn tortillas for your guacamole.

Almost everything is gf. So delicious. Ok have gone twice at 2 different locations. They are way better than Chipotle. Items aren’t marked. I looked it up on line and they were helpful as well.

If we are only talking about how safe this place is it was good. They have corn tortillas for tacos and burrito bowls. If we also consider how good the food is, it was meh. The corn tortillas are just your grocery store variety corn tortillas. The carnitas were good but the carne asada was over cooked and dry. I also got a side of rice and beans and the rice is just steamed white rice not Mexican or Spanish rice. With all the choices of taco places in the DC area this one is a skip it for me.

We did catering here, and the manager explained they fry the churros (which have gluten) separately from the chips. I’ll update if any bad aftereffects.

Very obvious cross contamination. I am extremely surprised by the current rating. Corn tortillas are dipped in shared oil and placed on same grille. Attempted to explain and staff did not understand. Not safe for celiac; ok for lifestyle people but not for true gluten sensitive folks

Stopped here while between tourist sites because of good reviews on here. It was a crazy busy lunch time but guy taking our order made sure to go back and mark our ticket for cc protocols. However, as person after person got their food and we didn’t, it was clear our order got bumped bc of the volume and the need to change gloves and clean- we finally had to ask and they had to go find our order to start making it. Food was good, safe, but going at a busy time was a problem.

Before ordering I told them I had celiac disease and asked if they knew what it was. The woman behind the counter looked at me like I had 8 eyeballs. I then said I have a gluten allergy and I would need the staff to change their gloves. She still looked at me like I was a freak, but she called out to the staff “gluten free.” (Ok, close enough.) They did change their gloves. Corn tortillas go on a griddle that is separate from the flour tortillas. The chance for cross contamination is definitely via the ladles they use for ingredients, since they touch the tortillas. I didn’t feel super sick after but I did feel a little off the day after eating here. Your experience may just depend on who’s on staff and which location you go to.

I had heard this place was good for GF people, but the manager was quite rude to me and my party when I asked for the GF menu I had read about. According to him, there is absolutely no way they can properly serve someone with gluten allergies or celiac. Very disappointing after reading and hearing good things.

Love District Taco! I usually get the bowl, but corn tortillas are gf. Breakfast tacos are good - have to exclude the fries. They make chips, fries and churros in the same fryer, but that’s about the only cross contamination.

I've only had tacos. The gf tacos use corn tortillas heated on a isolated grill top. There seems to be a chance of cross contamination as the filling is added to the tortilla but in my 10+ visits, I have not been glutened yet. It is good enough and they take enough care (at non peak hours) that I feel safe eating there

Almost everything can be made gluten free, and they distinguish the corn tortillas as gluten free or not, depending on if they heat them on the same surface as the flour tortillas. Easy, good value and delicious.

Everything except the Flour tortilla is Gluten free. The chips were good, pretty good sized portions.

You can find me here most Saturday afternoons! My usual: chicken taco on corn tortilla with black beans and cheese, a breakfast taco (just egg and cheese), and chips and queso. My only complaint is that if you get the large chips and queso, there aren’t enough chips! They serve beer (not sure if any are gf) and Boylan’s soda, but I never get a drink.
Yes
Just avoid flour tortillas and everything else is gluten free. I eat here often and have not had any problems.

I got three take-out tacos in early October 2019. The options offered were thoughtful; the food was well-made and generous for the price. This place is a good bargain.
Even better, the clerk at the register was happy to answer my questions. There were many, many GF options, and the clerk volunteered that, once he put "gluten free" on my ticket, the kitchen staff would change gloves and take allergen precautions.
The tacos (al pastor, pollo asado & guacamole) were delicious, and I was able to have a worry-free meal. This is a good place.

Highly recommend! Staff friendly and patient while I decided. It was super easy to order a to-go order and quick! Tried 4 different combinations of corn tortilla tacos and they did not disappoint!! Great way to end our day in DC.
Yes
Great food! Even with technical difficulties leading to no corn tortillas or eggs, everything else is still fantastic! I had the taco bowl with chicken, bacon, rice, beans and sour cream. Yum!! In fact, only thing that has gluten are the flour tortillas.
Yes
This place was perfect. Everything was gluten except the flour tortillas. The manager came out and made my food. It created a slight back up but not much. They were knowledgeable as well.
Yes
You can have the corn tacos or Burrito bowl without any problems and they can put gf on the order so that cross-contamination is minimized.
Yes
Everything except flour tortilla (thus burritos) are Gf. Clearly marked allergen menu with all ingredients online. Chips are marked as gf and I confirmed in restaurant that they’re not fried in anything shared. Mentioned GF before I started ordering and they flagged someone to handle my order individually. Very easy and comfortable ordering experience! Also all salsas at their free salsa bar are GF.

Perfect spot for gf. They can put it in your order and the staff will be extra careful with your corn tacos. Didn't get sick and will go there again!

Had a great meal and didn’t get sick. I was a little skeptical when the girl I ordered from didn’t know what meat was gluten free. She asked the other cashier who suggested she go and ask a cook. She came back and told me all the meat was GF. I had the burrito bowl with Barbacoa shredded beef and it was great!
Yes
Food was really good. We did not have any issues with getting sick.
Staff was very knowledgeable about GF, I had zero symptoms from the California burrito (usually with a flour tortilla)made into a “bowl” with some corn chips on the bottom.
Amazing, staff changed gloves and wipes down counter before prepping my tacos. As well, super understand, never get the blank stare when I say GF. Food is awesome on top of all that!
My burrito bowl was delicious and the staff were very friendly about my gluten intolerance.
Yummy!!! Chips and most meal options are GF.
Most taco places should be gluten friendly so when we asked about it here the cashier was good to ask. What made the service and place exceptional was that the manager stopped my order (pollo asado bowl) because she said she wasn’t sure about the marinade but she made a call and came back and said all was good for being gluten free. The bowl was ok. The chips and guacamole were excellent! To be honest, I would go back in a heartbeat because the manager, Claudia, took the extra step to make sure that all was going to be ok. She even stopped by our table to ask how it was. I explained to her that I had just walked down the row of restaurants where they are located asking for gluten free options and most of the front staff were clueless. Thank you!
They have gluten free food but are very confused when it comes to cross contamination and are not very happy when asked to avoid it
District Taco is great! Not only is almost everything on the menu gluten free (the one exception is the flour tortillas), but the staff are trained in gluten friendly protocols. As long as you mention gluten free when you order, they will put it on the ticket. I watched as gloves were changed before making my tacos, and fresh aluminum foil was put on the grill for my corn tortillas! Also the flavors are amazing!
