Tons of options to choose from on their allergen menu. We tried pulled pork, ribs, brisket, chicken wings, and beans. All of it was so delicious and no stomachache afterwards.
Wonderful cozy Americana ambiance. Food and drinks are off the charts good. I had the beef back ribs and the burnt ends and beans. They have an allergy matrix menu where gluten is the first column. Lots of options. I writing this review the next morning and I have had no problems at all. Make sure you get the burnt ends. They are ridiculous.

The pulled pork was delicious…. Seemed to have a lot of gluten free options
We have celiac as well as other food allergies in the house and Jack Stack is wonderful. They have an allergy menu that not only lists what allergens are present, but tells you how to modify it to make it GF, dairy free, etc (no bun, no cheese, etc.) They include every sauce and meat they serve and offer GF buns. The allergen menu is very thorough. Waiters always seem to be very knowledgeable and confirm everything directly with the kitchen. We’ve eaten there many times and always had good experiences.
Waitress was very knowledgeable and patient explaining what was gluten free and what could be modified to be gluten free. There were so many choices! My meal was brought out separate which is always reassuring. Amazing food and I didn’t get sick!!
My husband is Celiac and he had great food and no issues
I’ve eaten takeout here several times and not gotten sick. As a KC native jack stacks was always good but never quite my favorite. However, after my celiac diagnosis, I go here often and love being able to eat bbq again! They seem to be relatively well informed on cross contact.
Note, not all sides are GF, such as fries; check the menu.
Allergen menu was very informative. Their fries do contain gluten, as the allergen memu correctly indicates. Had pork burnt ends and sausage burnt ends as an appetizer, and chicken sandwich on GF bun, with broccoli side, for main course. Creme brulee for dessert was delicious. A great meal!
Most meat, sauces, dressings, and sides are gluten free. Well marked menu and informed servers. Had the spinach salad and family style round up (ribs, brisket, turkey, pulled pork, cheesy corn bake, hickory beans, and potato salad) Everything was delicious! The ribs were my favorite with beans, brisket and potato salad close seconds. Next time I will skip the cheesy corn bake -- it was corn kernels in a mac and cheese sauce soup. TIP: If ordering a combo plate get two half sides.
Fries do contain gluten!
Great service, but I was not aware they had a GF menu. My brisket was average and the turkey was not a quality cut of meat and very bland.
The service was great, but the food unremarkable and I am so sick after eating the fries. I won’t be back.
Our waitress was so great and knowledgeable. I had a gluten free menu that you use to check what has gluten and what doesn’t on the main menu. Most of their sauces are gluten free. I ordered a pick 2 and had pulled pork and burnt ends. I substituted the sides for a baked potato. My husband ordered wings and the waitress double checked and warned me the wings had gluten in them. (In case I was going to try one) I felt very taken care of and safe.
I have a gluten allergy (very sensitive) and this restaurant is amazing. Their allergy menu is super easy to understand. My waitress was super kind and made sure to put an allergy warning on my order. The best bbq I’ve had!
Food very good, got me the GF menu right away and said he'd make sure the kitchen knew. I'm low sensitivity so can't tell if issues
Went to Science City with kids in the AM, went to lunch here, and then back to Science City. Good BBQ, plenty of seating, lots of options, the creamy corn was something new I hadn’t had before.
Knowledgeable staff and many options
Amazing!! We ordered the Taste of KC easily feeds 6 people and we were able to get the gluten free stuff separated from the not gluten free which was the wings and fries. Great experience! I suggest making reservations!
Great service, great food, nice evening and do not get sick
The BBQ is my absolute favorite. GF options are marked and they have an allergen grid available online. Amazing beans, amazing burnt ends, and amazing crown prime ribs.
Comprehensive allery menu that made it very easy to order GF foods. Great service and food was wonderful. No reaction at all.
I called in advance- since we were ordering takeout. They have a way to do group orders allowing users to add notes & each user who is part of the group can add their name. I loved the convenience. I included allergy alert- in my name. Asked to change gloves & bag separately- due to gluten, dairy & nut allergies- they did great! Even confirmed when we picked up the food that they took added precautions & someone else in our order had ordered fries, they advised the fries are not in fried in a GF fryer just to ensure we were aware that the GF people in our party can’t have the fries!
We were visiting MO from California, went to KC and Branson. This was definitely the best BBQ we had on our weeklong trip, probably the best BBQ either of us have had in our lives. We are still talking about it a week later! Melt in your mouth meats. Even the chicken! BBQ sauces are excellent. Try them all, they’re all gluten free! Our server definitely knew what was and wasn’t GF and made a special note for the kitchen as well that I had an allergy. I had the strawberry salad to start (delicious and refreshing) then some chicken and pulled pork and a loaded baked potato. All so good. We had it for lunch and ate so much we skipped dinner that night. Highly recommend.
Servers are very knowledgeable. They have an allergy specific menu which is amazing! I had burnt ends and creamy corn. So good!
The food is delicious and they were so kind about our celiac disease. Really appreciated.
I ate here tonight with my celiac daughter. We had noted the need for a GF menu with my reservation through Open Table, and they were great about including it when we sat down. They provided a gluten free item list so we could cross reference the kids menu and full menu. It also includes options for modifications to make regular items GF. Lastly the person who sat us did a great job of highlighting that the fries and wings would be cross contaminated in the fryer. Our server also made sure that my daughters chicken was not served on the same plate as fries (for her sister). Over all they were great and attentive!
Great BBQ. Staff was very knowledgeable and food was good!!
I have always wanted burnt ends in Kansas City. We stopped here on our way through and were impressed, to say the least! The waitress stopped mid-order to grab the allergen menu when I told her I was gluten-free. I didn't even ask her to! I had the burnt end plate (pork and beef) with the corn bake. Those were hands-down the BEST burnt ends I have ever eaten, smoky, tender, and beyond delicious! The corn bake was like a cheesy creamed corn and were super yummy. The ribs were amazing too! Worth driving half hour off the highway!
Soooo good! All meats & sauces are GF, and most sides are as well. Ask for their allergen guide - it lists out all menu items and which allergens are present. The manager gave the disclaimer that there’s always a chance for cross contact since they do have gluten in their kitchen, but if an allergy was severe, they would change gloves and prep the food in a separate area. My friend & I shared the burnt ends platter for 2 which included beef & pork burnt ends and sausage, baked beans, cheesy corn and coleslaw. It was so much food we each took some home. Best BBQ hands down.
Best BBQ I’ve ever eaten. They are fully aware of not only gluten, but all allergens and provide an allergen list to cross reference with the menu. Now for the food…spectacular no matter what you order!!!
This was amazing. Found it with my "Find My Gluten Free" app. It did not disappoint. Good gluten free options. Had Blackberry BBQ Salmon which was amazing! The cheese corn was delicious too.. Those were my favorites.. The BBQ lamb ribs were also delicious as were the beans. They didn't really have a gluten free dessert, but were able to get me some ice cream with chocolate sauce. Hubs had the strip with fries and really liked it.. The family fashioned and purple haze were also delicious, but the family fashioned won out. ETA; make a reservation before coming, we were happy we did even though we came earlier than I anticipated needing a reservation. At 5p the wait without a reservation was 30 to 45 min.
This was our first experience at Jack Stack’s as we are from Nashville, TN. We were traveling through KC and stopped to see a friend who told me about burnt ends…something I had never heard of even though Nashville has plenty of barbecue. The burnt ends didn’t have the crispness my friend described but they were so very tender. My husband had the pork spare ribs and they were excellent. Another big plus was the accommodation of my gluten-allergy. Morning after dinner I feel fine! Our server was very knowledgeable and a great server…a young gal going to community college before she goes off to Oklahoma University.
I had a fantastic experience here! The waitress was so knowledgeable of the menu and brought up which items might be subject to cross contamination right away. All of the sauces appear to be gluten free and same with the meat (minus the wings which are fried). You can swap the french fries for a wide number of other delicious sides 😋
We got the honey-chipotle chicken and cheesy corn. Both were super tasty and my daughter had no reactions afterwards. Can provide an allergen menu if you ask.
SO GOOD! I got the brisket & turkey with the cheesy potatoes as a side, and my mom got the honey-chipotle chicken with the cheesy corn.
The brisket/turkey was by far the best. My mom thought the chicken was best - both sides were pretty good.
They can provide an allergen menu if you ask and almost everything is GF or can be made GF.
My favorite KC BBQ! Lots of gluten free options and they are very careful with cross contamination. Jack Stack is my go to for BBQ!
Just ate here on our way through Kansas City. Pretty good. Reservations are recommended as it is very popular place—obviously good food. The gluten free menu is thorough and most items were either GF or could be modified to be so. We had a good server despite being very busy.
My go to place. Ribs are amazing and many gluten free options on sides. Love Jack stack. Will be having tonight !!!!
