This place used to be safe for celiacs but in recent years the safety has gone out the window. There is lots of cross contamination and they use all the same equipment for the pizza even if you tell them it’s an allergy. Every time I’ve ordered the pasta/mac&cheese there have been a couple regular (non gluten free) noodles in the mix.
I’ve never had any issues with the salad. If you decide to order one I would recommend one that’s naturally gluten free since they tend to make errors.
I’m saddened by this review because this place used to be my go-to. Unfortunately it has proven to be unsafe and it’s not worth getting sick after every meal.
My go-to safe restaurant! ABSOLUTE BEST GLUTEN FREE PIZZA EVERRR. They also offer gluten free pastas, Mac and cheese, salads, etc, unsure about panini bread though. The staff are all very welcoming and informed about celiac always asking if it’s an allergy even before you say if it is. Family friendly environment and I love coming here with friends
I wanted to share our experience at Sauce on Grant and Wilmot so others can make an informed decision. There is not a separate listing for that location that I can find.
We had been eating there regularly but tonight our pizza looked weird/different. It was carry out so I called and spoke to the manager.
The bottom of the pizza felt gritty like I remember wheat pizza being. The manager confirmed that the black specks all over the bottom of the crust are wheat flour since they don’t have a separate oven. I didn’t realize they weren’t cooking the pizza with any kind of barrier like foil or parchment- my mistake for not asking. This place is not celiac safe.
We ordered from Uber Eats. Prior to ordering, we called to inquire about their gluten free pizza.
Upon calling, they asked if I was Celiac and thoroughly explained the precautions they take for gluten free orders. The fact that they were knowledgeable about Celiac immediately put me at ease about ordering.
We ordered a gluten free pizza with pepperoni, basil and mushrooms.
It tasted excellent and I had absolutely no issues.
My non-gluten free family members also enjoyed they pizza.
Pizza was great and they asked allergy or preference.
By far the best gluten free pasta I have ever had, couldn’t tell that it wasn’t regular pasta and the sauce is amazing. They also make sure it is an allergy or a preference!!!
The staff did an excellent job of addressing my concerns. They will ask you if your gluten-free meal is preference or allergy. Once I said allergy, they made sure I felt comfortable with how my order was handled. I had to beet, arugula and goat cheese salad as well as fig, prosciutto and goat cheese pizza on a gluten free crust. Both were excellent. The staff all give excellent and prompt service and are super friendly. If you are a sensitive celiac though please be aware this is a shared environment but they do their best to ensure safe preparation.
Have been a big fan. But they just switched to a cauliflower crust which is terrible. I am Fodmaps so that was a nasty surprise and there was no change to menu description. So disappointing because the original GF crust was fantastic. There are no good GF pizza options in North Phoenix at this time .
I have a gluten allergy and Sauce is one of the restaurants we go to all the time. They are always careful to ask me if ordering gluten free is due to an allergy. GF pizza is delicious and I’ve never had a reaction because of their food.
Horrible food and atmosphere... loud and crowded, I would never recommend this to anyone with celiac.
Sooo delicious! They let you make any pizza gluten free. The crust tasted so good, and the workers were very helpful.
Has gf labels on all gf items on menu. Get the gluten free fig, prosciutto, and goat cheese pizza. The texture is better than regular bread and compliments the toppings so well. When I order they ask if it's an allergy or preference. I'm addicted and thankful for this place!
great selection. food is wonderful. service was great. food service may have some cross contamination but I'm just doing it for diet reasons. so a little cross contamination is OK for me. try the vegetable soup! so good
I have eaten here many times with no issues but tonight I got sick within 10 minutes of eating my same GF pizza. I guess they loosened up on the prepping.
Their Mac and cheese and tomato soup is sooo good! And it's pretty cheap for how much you get as well. Didn't get sick when j ate here. Never tried the pizza
Be really careful here. Although they advertise gluten free pizzas and sandwiches, they are in no way safe for any celiacs or those with low thresholds for sensitivity. Everything is shared and they are clear on that- they do not make an attempt to use separate ingredients. This is an example of a restaurant doing gluten free for $$$
I wanted the chicken pesto pizza, and asked if those ingredients were gluten free as well. The cashier said he didn't know, all he knew was that the crust was gluten free. I didn't want to hold up the line so I just ordered a GF cheese pizza. It was undercooked and the crust was mushy and soft. Not impressed.
a little pricey but spectacular and the staff is great!
nice place but only has gluten free pizza crust which is made in the same area as gluten. also no non dairy choices.
Gf pizza was pretty good-the crust was a little thin though. They have good salads :) was a little overwhelmed by how busy it got
