They have gluten free options yes . Depending how knowledgeable the staff member you talk to is , they do know about the gluten content of their food options . However they don’t seem to have any awareness of cross contamination whatsoever . I took my chances and had good luck here quite a few times . But last visit I ordered a gluten free bun and it looked different than usual . They swore it was gluten free and I stupidly ate it. AND sick as a dog after . Clearly they just put a regular bun and lied. I tried one last time the other day and the food took forever , was cold AND although the gluten free bun looked correct this time , I got sick again . Cross contamination I guess . I like the food and I’ve wanted to be able to enjoy it but it’s just one too many times getting sick to keep going there . No more .
I would say don’t eat there if you are celiac or gluten intolerance or allergic .
I have had good luck here in the past. Gluten free options and staff is helpful in answering questions . Today something went terribly wrong and the all night agony of stomach clenching and other terribles ( you all know what I mean ) has begun . I’ve had their gluten free bun successfully many times. This time I had FRIES . I’ve never ordered them before . I read another review saying they have a dedicated fryer for the fries so I didn’t ask and felt like I would be ok. However they do offer onion rings and breaded chicken pieces so I should have confirmed about a dedicated fryer. All I know is I am sick right now so bad that this is weeks to get back on track ahead of me. Definite cross contamination / gluten and or their fries are a composite potato product that itself is not gluten free even if the fryer is . Sometimes even the staff wouldn’t know that . I can tell you this , 12 years of gluten free life and it’s almost always French fries that will do you in . . Misery !!! Ask TONS of questions and ask them to change their gloves . And I would say , do NOT ORDER THE FRIES .
Recently had to change my whole life and go gluten and dairy free cold Turkey. This place is a nice “cheat meal” with no worries about getting sick. Such a blessing
The gluten free buns were very good and not dry at all. I had the Holy Guacamole and my husband had the Big Zac. We shared a root beer float made with oak soft! serve and the Iconic fries which were my absolute favorite thing we ate.
Neither of us had sign of cc which hits me within 2 hours.
Interestingly, it is located nearly nextdoor to a McDonald's, the sign of which is visible from the dining room. Plant Power food does have a McD's vibe but is way better in flavor and quality!
It is completely vegan/plant based/dairy free. As of writing this review, the fryer is dedicated gluten free (per the cashier). They apparently fry the fries in one frier completely on their own, and then the wheat products (like the “chicken”) in another frier. Always double check!
As for the burger, they labeled mine GF on the package which was nice. The GF burgers have a distinctly darker bun than the regular (a good way to make sure you really got GF). The shakes are made with Oatly soft serve; Oatly uses GF oats. All their shakes are GF (including cookies and cream!!) with the exception of cookie butter which is not GF. The sauces are all GF except for the Zac sauce. The entire menu is clearly marked with GF/GFO.
I mentioned I have an allergy. The only thing that bothered me was they didn’t mark anything on the ticket about having an allergy - not sure if that’s a possibility but it always reassures me a little more. I’ve eaten here twice and didn’t get sick either time.
Provided GF buns and specially checked the guacamole burger to make sure there was nothing glutinous! They were out of fries so not sure whether those are cooked in a dedicated GF fryer or not. Everything here was vegan and delicious, including for the members of the family who usually enjoy meat!
The menu is clearly labeled with gluten free options as-is or substitutions are noted. There also is a full allergen menu online if you’re avoiding other allergens besides gluten.
I had the burger on a gluten free bun with a side of fries (made in a dedicated fryer 🥳) and a slice of vegan cheesecake. All around tasty and not terribly expensive either. I think my total was around $20 which for vegan and gluten free food is not bad at all.
Definitely will be stopping by again!
They have a dedicated fryer for the fries and will change gloves if asked. The employee I spoke with said that there is a cross contamination risk on grilled items and informed me that when it comes to cross contamination, the fries are the best bet because of the dedicated fryer. Stoked to have a safe place to fries!! And the Iconic Fries are really good!
As someone who is gluten and dairy free I don’t often get to enjoy a burger, some fries, and a slice of cheesecake but at this place I do! I have never gotten sick eating here and everything had a great experience. I would definitely recommend eating here ESPECIALLY the iconic fries. The iconic fries are basically in n out animal fries but 10x better!
I would say that this place is moderately celiac friendly. Most of the items are not gluten-free, and there is very likely to be cross-contamination with most of them. However they were aware of the risks of cross-contamination and let me know about them (ie, Though they are veggie patties are gluten-free, they are grilled on the same grill as a gluten containing items.) think the only things that are safe for those with celiac disease are their pre-prepped raw vegan options. I had their “tacos,” which were ok.
Sooo many delicious option! GO HERE!
If you are celiac and truly gluten free be cautious. I have had French fries from here with no problem but I ordered a GF burger for the first time. The burger tasted ok but 4-5 hours later I had a severe reaction to gluten. I called and they said, yes everything is shared equipment 99% of the time the same counters, grills and cutting boards are used with whole wheat breaded products. I will still enjoy visiting there but I will never trust that because it says gluten free that it is.
amazing food, reasonable prices, gf items clearly marked. woot!
