Went to the restaurant after a 12 hour workday to order takeout to bring back to the hotel. Ordered from the gluten free menu, told them it was a wheat allergy. Found a piece of garlic bread hidden UNDER my pulled pork, after I had already eaten half of it. Called them back, all I got was a verbal apology.
Visited here twice during holiday. After first visit was going to give 5 stars. It was lovely then waiter was knowledgeable and no issues. However the 2nd visit was terrible. Had to send dinner back twice we order two gf babyback ribs just like last time. They firstly came with garlic bread on them. Second time the mash came with gravy that states on menu that we cannot have gravy. Guess all the staff are not up to date on allergy awareness.
The ribs were so good! I have been 4 times. Had a great experience the first 3, but the 4th time I had a waitress who was terrible and I may have gotten sick. I should have gotten the manager when I first questioned her abilities.
They have a gluten free menu with decent understanding and pleasant servers. A few of their GF items are also dairy free. Check online for their full allergen listing. It was our only option in the area since the others were closed. Glad they were there for our travels.
I informed the staff I was gluten free prior to ordering. I got pulled pork with potatoes. Within thirty minutes I started to feel sick, the waiter informed me that they accidentally put garlic bread on my pork at first but then removed it! Not safe at all. I notified the manager and he was very apologetic but I just can’t trust them again..
So far they have taken care of me. My go to meals are pulled pork or ribs with a baked potato. I always advice that I have a gluten allergy and to ask the chef to take extra care to change his gloves while preparing my food and so far I’ve eaten here probably 5+ times without an issue. Your mileage may vary at other locations. I have celiac disease and have been okay so far.
They had a separate GF menu with plenty of options. I'm always one to be super skeptical of GF menus with just some options from the menu, but I got the pulled pork and it was delicious! Also didn't get sick at all. I will be returning in the future.
so went on a Saturday, hardly anyone in the restaurant but I must have got some cross contamination as yesterday and today I feel awful. only place I ate that was not my kitchen from last Monday. so even though they have GF menu be careful.
One of the reasons we came here was because of their gluten-free menu. I have celiac disease which allows strictly no gluten in my diet. There were quite a few options for me to order from. However, when my food came there was a piece of garlic bread on my plate touching the ribs that I had ordered. I had to cut that piece off of the rack. The food was good but I question their knowledge of gluten allergies and the lack of caution while preparing my food.
Pulled Pork was amazing. Our server was very good but you must read and ask many questions. There wasn't as much to order as I was hoping, no buns for example but my meal was so tasty. Will visit again ... may bring my own roll.
our waiter Jesse was fabulous! Great GF menu with lots of options!
They have a gluten free menu. Most of their meats are gluten free, and sides too. I had the pulled pork, loaded mashed potatoes and broccoli!
I really enjoyed my lunch. It tasted so "real" and I didn't get sick at all and I am very sensitive. I got the grilled chicken which is sliced thin and good quality. All the BBQ sauces on the table are GF and delicious! I had mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli too. Very pleased and will be back!!!
I know this is supposed to accommodate people with a gluten intolerance but when my bar b que chicken came out, it was smothered in sauce. About an hour later, I broke out in hives and have an upset stomach. I will not be going back. Didn't have any problems at Sonny's!
Lots of g/f choices here. All of the sauces. the slaw, the wings (different from and tastier than the big chains' wings), plenty of sides and entrees to choose from, as well as TWO really good gluten removed beers. Never found any establishment that offered more than one. The smoked meats were all moist & tender. Outdoor seating for warm weather. We'll return even though it's a long distance for us.
I had the chicken breast with a baked potato. There are 5 BBQ sauces to choose from and large portions. The server was very knowledgeable and had us laughing a few times. shared kitchen. Disclaimer on menu. I am very sensitive but had no problems
you have to ask for it but they do have a separate gluten free menu. it calls out the items that are gluten free and the server guided me to how the choices related to the prices on their regular menu. odd, but it worked. the bbq is excellent here.
Traveling through on Vacatiou. Had to backtrack to get there. Well the effort . At other rib joints I have been frustrated by not being able to have the bbq Sause! Not so at Smokey Bones My wife doesn't have Celiac so she had the onion rings . Some of the best she has ever had. We will be stopping there again on our way through!
