5 Napkin Burger

Ordered the Five Napkin Burger and an order of fries. Our server was very nice and assured us the burger could be made gluten free and the fries would go in a separate fryer. The sever put an allergy alert on our ticket. Nima test for the burger came back positive for gluten. Nima test of the fries was negative for gluten. Kind of disappointing to have fries for dinner.

The staff had fast service, dedicated fryer and were educated about allergies. Also, the food was so delicious: burgers, fries, and the burrito.

I was skeptical of this place. There is no mention of gluten free food on their website or menu and when we called the hostess was clueless. Then when we arrived, the waitress said the fries were gluten free and the burgers could be served on GF buns, but she was not very knowledgeable or convincing. We rolled the dice based on recommendations from friends. My 6 year old son - who has celiac - LOVED his meal and had no issues. I thought my burger was gross and overpriced and the service was pretty bad - even though the place was mostly empty. So, I guess the summary is this place it’s good at preventing cross contamination, but bad at preparing tasty food and providing prompt service.

Delicious burger (served on what I believe was an Udi bun). Both regular fries and sweet potato fries are in their own fryer.

Tour guide suggested 5 Napkin Burger out of all the burger places in Boston, and was not disappointed. Burgers were delicious and cooked perfectly. Love that they bring pickles to the table instead of bread! Knowledgeable about gluten free and cross contamination.

The burger comes on a really hot plate so the bun got soggy pretty quickly. Other than that, the burger was perfect at medium well.

Are waiter was nice. Are food came out fast. And was very good. My recommendation is the bacon cheddar burger.

Original Review:

Have only had their flagship burger, twice. The second time was to give the burger another chance. Both times were mediocre. Their fries and drinks are good, though. Three stars b/c their fries and drinks were delicious but their **flagship** burger wasn't memorable by any means.

Would I go again? Yes. But only to try a different entree. I would not order their flagship burger again.

Update 4/17/16: Visited on Saturday 4/16/16, Scottie (the server) was very knowledgeable about the gluten free options and substitutions that could be made. They made a custom drink for me that was similar to the one I couldn't order b/c it wasn't gluten free. I wanted the Turkey Burger, but the turkey party isn't gluten free so Scottie suggested we substitute their regular beef patty. My "Turkey" burger was yummy. I would order it again. I am a whimp when it comes to spicy food, but the tomatoes gave just the perfect amount of kick to wake up the taste buds. Furthermore, the richness of the pesto and the cheese played perfectly together with the acidity and freshness of tomato jam and arugula. Would I order this burger, again? Yes. My boyfriend ordered the BBLT and a margarita. He loved both. Would I visit, again? Yes. In fact, this visit bumped my rating up from 3 to 4 stars.

Burgers were delicious! (My friend even loved her turkey burger) The GF bun was really good and it was an amazing bonus that the fryer was dedicated. I'm glad this place isn't close to me cause I'd be eating here all the time!

Staff was very cautious and helpful. Service was fast. Gf drinks on the menu. The bun is not the same as the 5 Napkin Burger in NYC, which was disappointing, and they burgers didn't taste the same, but we're still good.

My family and I chose this place after reading an article on the Boston Visitors Guide website. It stated they had GF fries and chicken wings - not the case! The waitstaff were not very helpful or overly friendly! Only the beef burgers are guaranteed GF - they have GF buns (which were hard/dry) or lettuce wrap. No dedicated fryer. Unfortunately the burger was not even that great. Best part was coleslaw and guacamole!! Should've checked reviews here first.

Burgers not great. Staff not very knowledgable or competent. They Do have a dedicated fryer for fries but the staff said they didn't till I showed them the previous reviews. Then they said yes they do.

Restaurant is a bit expensive (for everyone, not just those avoiding pesky glutens) but food is worth it. Burger's are flavorful, buns okay (typical crumbly bun). Dedicated gf fryer is a added bonus for those longing fries.

That said, if Boston Burger Co would get its act together and offer gf buns and dedicated fryer, I probably wouldn't return here. Burger co is cheaper and has better burgers and options.

This place is amazing! They don't have a dedicated menu, but are very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a dedicated fryer and the fries are delicious! I was able to customize any.burger to make it exactly the way I wanted and had no problems afterward. Definitely eating here again! Highly recommended.

I would never go here normally, but their burger is seriously worth putting up with the packed chain. Great staff, french fries, and the buns are unique and addicting!

When I went, they had just gotten an entirely brand new (regular) menu, so our waitress was still learning it. She was very helpful in finding out as much as she could about what was gluten-free and what wasn't, and really wanted to make sure I had a meal I would enjoy. It wouldnt be my first choice restraint, as I had limited options, but I would go back if my friends were eating there because I know I'd have great service and help finding GF meals.

Waiter was very knowledgeable and they took allergies very seriously. Menu isn’t marked but it felt easy to figure out what the GF options were. And the fries are GF!

There is gluten free bread on the menu and I was assured there would be no cross contamination. I had an Impossible burger and French fries. It was good, the service was superb and best of all, I did not get sick.

Dedicated fryer for GF french fries, knowledgeable wait staff and kitchen professionals, and GF burger buns. Even the side of brussel sprouts was GF - the waiter double checked. Had an excellent burger, fries and drink. Can’t wait to go back.

Server knew off the top of his head what I could have and reassured me a million time when he misspoke about something. Seemed like it was very typical to have GF/celiac patrons. Food was great! Cute place
