The waitress here was not clear about GF items and I wound up getting sick after eating here.
Only had gluten free pancake and eggs for celiac friendly options. Everything else is cross contaminated. The pancake was good, but as thin as a crepe and not worth the price paid!
My husband and I went here for breakfast in Charleston SC and it was amazing!!!! Best omelet I've had. They also substituted my muffin for gf pancakes! Very pleased!
Our waitress Leslie was exceptional and pointing out which items were gluten-free and which were not. When I ordered a few things and did not pay attention to what was gluten-free and what was not, she ensured that the items I received were all gluten-free. The city grits are exceptional. You have not lived until you've tried them. If you never make it here and try them it will be your loss.
Good service and GF knowledgable. Offered to cook potatoes in separate fryer if I was celiac sensitive. Lots if options on the menu including quinoa.
Awesome place. Went to the one in Biltmore Park for brunch. Very knowledgeable about Celiac. Did not have any reaction so will def go there again.
Have eaten at several locations of this cafe and have always had a wonderful experience. This location was no different. Enjoyed a scramble and was able to easily substitute GF pancakes in place of the potatoes which were not in a dedicated fryer. Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating!
Great place with lots of GF options. Both my husband and I were very pleased with our dining experience. I had GF blueberry pancake and he had a veggie omelette. GF items are clearly marked on their menu.
Great gluten free pancakes and their bacon is amazing!
many delicious gluten free breakfasts lunches and dinners!!!
Black Bean Sliders with avocado n jicama are delicious (the pickled okra are a great touch/treat)
I have the gluten-free pancakes with blackberries and strawberries. And they were just as good as any other kind of pancakes! And of course they have all their egg breakfasts options that would be gluten-free. What I'd really like to see is the cinnamon roll French toast in gluten free! Of course this place calls at gluten friendly because it was made on the same equipment as gluten containing items so they can't call it gluten-free.
Came here for breakfast while in Pensacola for a wedding. I'm a very sensitive celiac and had no issues at the Nashville location over the summer, and this location didn't disappoint either! I had a chorizo omelette that was delicious, and they even gave me small gluten free pancakes as a side in place of toast (also delicious!). The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The waitress even knew enough to tell me that they fry their potatoes in the same oil as the beignets. I wish I had this restaurant in my hometown!
Extremely knowledgeable on Celiac. GF Pancakes are gluten friendly meaning they are made on the same pan as gluten which is cross contamination for me. When I told our server I was Celiac she said they could make them completely separate. The gluten free pancakes were some of the best I have ever had. Highly recommend coming. My daughter who is Celiac also had fruit and they used precautions for making her fruit bowl also.
Gluten free pancakes would have been a good option, but they never made them. We waited and asked when they were coming, and the waiter said they were. Once we were about done, we asked again. He said, "Honestly, our kitchen is really slammed and they don't have time." That made my daughter feel like an inconvenience for her special needs of gluten free. The shrimp and grits were pretty good.
We discovered this charming breakfast spot on a recent trip to Baton Rouge. Items that are gluten free are marked clearly with a GF. The first time I had their giant GF pancake, and it was fabulous. The second time II had their Blackberry grits and bacon. They also serve all sorts of lattes and cappuccinos. It's a lovely "Modern Old South" atmosphere both inside and outside, where tables and chairs line a oversize covered porch.
Ate here while on vacation in Navarre, FL. It was very delicious and any of their omelettes can be made gluten free. I had the Hey Ricky! Omelette and my husband tried the Floridian (gluten free so I could try it). Both were great! My plate accidentally came with their side of potatoes which are cross contaminated (my waitress told me), but my omelette was on a separate plate. And my waitress caught the potatoes before I noticed it! She was great, took the potatoes away right away and gave me fruit instead. I enjoyed eating there so much that 3 days later we found another location while traveling home and enjoyed another brunch.
They have several gluten free friendly options, including pancakes, eggs Benedict (when modified), and your standard naturally gluten free omelets, eggs and bacon, etc. The managers and cooks understand cooking for a gluten allergy, but the servers and not always detail oriented. They are supposed to tell a manager when they have a table with a gluten allergy, but they don't seem to always remember. In the future, I will remind the sever to alert the manager. With their involvement, I feel comfortable eating a gluten free breakfast at this restaurant. Also, the food is great!!!
The only GF bread option they have is tiny pancakes they call sliders but they were pretty good. No dairy free milk options for those who have other allergies or intolerances. Worst coffee ever, totally burnt. Eggs were dry but aside from that the food was pretty good. Not worth the trip though.
Their GF pancakes are expensive. The first one I got was burned. My family ate their meal and my second pancake came. It was undercooked. The manager was personable and took it off my ticket. He gave me food to go which was cold by the time I got to our condo. So I never really ate a full meal. We tried it again before we drove home. The manager was unfriendly and suggested I order something different if I didn't like how it was cooked. I clarified that out of the three pancakes we ordered two were cooked fine but mine was burned and undercooked. It was evident by his attitude that I irritated him. I will never return regardless of the gluten free option.
It's always appreciated when a restaurant makes a dish gluten-free not just by removing an offending item (e.g. Making a burger GF by serving it without a bun), but by replacing it with an equivalent item. Such is the case here. All of the omelettes can be made GF. For mine, they replaced an English muffin with two little GF pancakes, and they served pure maple syrup from VT in lieu of the regular maple syrup which has gluten (who knew!) This was all done without my asking, besides having requested the gluten-friendly version. There is a disclaimer that the kitchen is not 100% GF, however. Also, excellent food, friendly service.
Loved this place! The area around the restaurant was delightful...fish pond, zip line, shops. The manager came over and assured me that they would insure no cc. Food was delicious! Tg ey even substitute gf mini pancakes for the english muffin on all omelets and scramblers. Yum!! Definitely a two $$ place, but worth it.
This is my favorite restaurant at Pensacola Beach. They have a great GF selection. I ate the Popeye which was scrambled egg, baked bacon, onion, spinach , and monteray jack cheese. The English muffin was substituted with mini GF pancakes, and the potatoes were substituted with a mixed fruit bowl. They have generous portions and are very reasonably priced. An award winning restaurant. They are exceptionally knowledgeable of celiacs needs.
Great experience here! Manager was awesome. Made sure my food was cooked properly w/out contamination. Lots of GF offerings. All the omelets and scrambles come with two small gf pancakes instead of the English muffin. Yum!
Warning, got violently sick! My girlfriend (who has Celiac) and I had just arrived for our first trip to Nashville for the weekend (morning of 7/8/16). Starving, we pulled up the Find Me GF app that we use religiously. This place had a great rating and sounded perfect. She stated that she had an allergy. First red flag...her omelette came out with my regular English muffins on her plate with her omelette. She told them that they would have to make a new one because it's a severe allergy, not a preference (politely...no big deal to wait, just get it right). They made a new one fairly quickly. But then about an hour after eating here (only food she had eaten) she got violently, violently sick. Not just a stomach ache. Throwing up for hours from both ends etc. We had also gotten what were supposed to be GF pancakes so not sure what made her sick. But basically we paid about $50 for her to be poisoned. On a positive note the waiter was great and friendly and the food tasted great. But that doesn't really matter if the kitchen isn't trained properly. So to summarize, don't eat here unless this sounds like a good time to you and you want to spend the better half of a day being really, really sick!
This place was great! I loved the location we have never been to Florida and it was in the cutest little area with stuff for the kids to do and places to shop. You will have a little bit of a wait buts it's 100% worth it. There gluten free pancake is awesome and it did come with gluten free syrup. I also got eggs, bacon, and potatoes. No issues. Coffee was awesome and it was cozy and fun. We are stopping there again before we leave. Busy place there will be wait but worth it!! I'm very sensitive to gluten and my son. Great place to go. Ask for mini pancakes to replace the English muffin that comes will all other entrees for a gfree option.
I love the food here and have never had an issue. I've knocked a star off because the service is relatively slow and another star off because they just recently started charging $1.25 for GF syrup (beware - the regular syrup is not GF). Still, it's the only place nearby that I've found that serves GF pancakes, so I'll be back...
This place is amazing! The gluten free pancake renewed my faith in gluten free baked goods. Having a waiter knowledgeable about gluten intolerance was a breath of fresh air. They were happy to make substitutions to my meal to allow me to have a well rounded breakfast.
Meh, very unenthusiastic. They have gf pancakes and bread, but that's it. They guarantee nothing. Potatoes are fried in shared oil. I ordered the fruit cup instead and paid $4 for a small cup sour fruit- it wasn't ripe. I asked for bananas on my pancakes and literally received 5 slices. My stomach started to hurt so stopped eating.
Terrible on many accounts. They still offer gf pancakes, but cooked on their regular griddle. Two of our dishes had to be sent back because they brought toast and potatoes on the plate. The waitress tried to take the toast off the plate in front of us. Very long wait for the food.
On my 2nd visit here, everything went wrong. After ordering, when the waitress brought out my food with other regular food (even though I'd so carefully explained how important it was to keep things separate) my husband and I left without eating, and without paying. it's too inconsistent for me ( a celiac) to ever go back here. I'd NOT recommend this place for fellow celiac's!
This place had awesome GF pancakes! I had them "bananas foster" style with bananas, pecans and whipped cream. It was heavenly. I don't think the place is celiac-friendly because their menu warns there kitchen isn't gluten-free. Great atmosphere but can get busy at peak times with a bit of a wait but totally worth the wait.
After reading the reviews, I was excited at the prospect of eating a particularly delicious pancake. Not that the ones I had weren't good, but they were nothing out of the ordinary. I can only guess the people who reviewed before me aren't used to being able to eat pancakes out. My scramble on the other hand, was by far the most tasty I can remember. I braved the possibility of contamination and tried the country potatoes. I don't recommend them. They appeared to be, and tasted like, bagged potatoes you can grab in the freezer section of your supermarket, then fried in old grease. My son really enjoyed his grits as they weren't doctored in any way. The house made sausage patties were tasty, though had a strange consistancy. I feel like they would go over better in a scramble, but that's just me. Our waitress, Madi, was new and very sweet and obliging. She went out of her way to ensure we got gf food. Overall, the experience was a good one. If we lived in Nashville it's safe to say we'd return now and again.
