Ate here two times on my visit to Chicago last month. Food was great and the staff didn’t miss a beat when it came to serving me safely. I really enjoyed it and will be back if I am ever in Chicago again. Reminds me of Friedman’s in NYC from type of food to good service and care.
I had a fine experience. The inside is nice and the food was good but I waited almost an hour for my food. I had to ask the waitress twice if the gluten free bread was also dairy/nut free.
Unrelated to me but the table behind me was also an allergy table and I watched on as they totally messed up her order and the manager had to try to salvage the situation. I imagine that might be why my food took a lot longer (we got there after them) but overall made me super nervous
Celiac. Staff indicated that Gluten never goes into the fryer, therefore they are dedicated. Full gluten-free menu, which is very similar to the regular menu. Chimichurri steak was great. No gluten-free beer. Had a positive experience and felt fine afterwards. Food comes out the Allergy sticks.
When traveling I always use the app to locate safe and good gluten free places. This place far exceeded my expectations. Not only was the place very nice the staff was wonderful and they had the best tacos I have ever had. It was so good I plan on going again this evening! Highly recommend!
This place has an extensive gluten free menu. My meal came out with an allergy stick, which I always appreciate. I ordered the Vegan Tortilla Soup, which was delicious, and the Chicken Bebe, which was good but didn't blow me away. My meal was $62, including a glass of wine, tip, and their 3% market surcharge. It's probably not a meal I would pay $60+ again, but it's not too far off.
Long story short, this is a place you feel safe with Celiac and choose from a large GF menu. Give it a try!
They had a large, separate gluten-free menu, and informed me only fries and their homemade corn chips shared the fryer. The staff seemed very knowledgeable about gluten-free and allergies. My food came out with an allergy flag, which I always appreciate. It was delicious and the service was excellent!
I honestly don’t understand how this place has so many good and ‘safe’ reviews. I’ve gotten sick every time I ate here. Last time we went I got the lemon & garlic roasted chicken. My husband got the same so I clearly specified I have celiac disease and asked multiple questions to ensure the safety. Dishes come out, I ask which one is gluten free. The server goes ‘both are naturally gluten free’ eeeeh that’s not how it works? Ate it, got sick…
Also, they keep their ‘GF’ cookies on display right next to and even under gluten containing products. Rookie mistake and they obviously don’t have a clue what celiac disease is.
Now today, I thought I’d try brunch. Again I let the waiter know I’m celiac. Ask multiple questions about a dedicate GF toaster, clean pan for my bacon etc. I ended up ordering scrambled eggs with bacon and GF toast. Keeping it simple! Our table could look into the kitchen. I see them line up our dishes, they place diagonally cut toast on my plate. Then panic and take it off and throw the toast out. The other dishes get served mine stays behind. I keep observing. They take the plate away to the back, to return minutes later with a slice of GF toast added to the plate. I ask the waiter if the meal is safe and told him what I saw. He said it was because they got the timing wrong. I said, this toast is 100% different than the toast before that they put on the plate and then threw out. I refused the meal. Waiter walked off huffing and puffing.
Will not be coming back 👎🏻
They have a separate gluten free menu (almost as long as the normal menu! Most things can be made gluten free!) They also have a dedicated fryer, and I was told my food might take a bit longer to come out due to their allergy procedures, which I have no problems with. The food was pretty good, we enjoyed the fries!
I’ve been here before multiple times for brunch and love it! I’ve gotten the gluten-free breakfast sandwich with a side of hash browns which was delicious! I’ve also tried their chicken sandwich for lunch with a gf which was also good! Dedicated fryer and separate gf menus. The staff is generally knowledgable as well.
My wife ordered a Caesar Salad with steak off the gluten free menu after making an open table reservation with “Celiac” clearly marked on it and informing the waiter that she was celiac. It came out without the steak, which to her has traditionally been a red flag — if her allergy orders come out wrong she loses faith that the allergy part has been properly observed. In this case she ignored the alarm bells. She didn’t send it back because it was 30 minutes from close and she didn’t want to wait and elected just to eat the salad without the steak and make sure she wasn’t charged for it. Then came the regret. After eating half the salad in the dim lighting she found crouton debris on the bottom of the plate and upon closer examination found some actual crouton pieces in the rest of the salad. The manager confirmed that’s what they were. The waiter and manager were mortified, and rightly so, she’s definitely going to get sick. It was just unacceptable.
I spent an insane amount of money on avocado toast with a side of turkey bacon and I have no regrets. It was the best breakfast I've had in awhile. Check this place out if you have the chance. They have an extensive gf menu plus their coffee and pastry bar has delicious gf treats as well.
