I had the breakfast sandwich and it was really good, but I wasn’t super impressed that there were hash browns on the GF menu - I tried to order those as a side and they told me they were cooked on a contaminated surface. The staff is obviously very knowledgeable, but I find inaccurate menus frustrating.
I went with my coeliac husband who is very sensitive to cross contamination and he had no reaction. We had the salmon and the mushroom bowls from the dinner menu and enjoyed them both. Our server was slow (food arrived before the drinks) but he took our drinks off the bill/check. Separate gf menu and items came out marked. Nice atmosphere.
Came here with my Celiac brother. They have a separate gluten free menu that was extensive including options with a dedicated fryer. The staff was very knowledgeable and everything that we ordered was sent to the kitchen with allergy specifications. The manager personally brought out all gluten free dishes as well as including an allergy marker on each plate. The food was great and my brother loved the gluten free burger bun that we found out was sourced from a local bakery. He had no reaction to any food. Great, safe experience with a lot of options!
Amazing brunch. We went on a Saturday and it was extremely busy we waited the hour to be sat but I would suggest making a reservation. They have gf menus upon request and when comparing it to the gluten menu most everything could be made gf. Felt very safe. All food came marked with an allergy toothpick
Was very impressed with both the quality and variety of options. They have a separate gf menu. Friendly wait staff who asked follow up questions. The quinoa/mushroom burger on gf bun was amazing and had an “allergy” flag on it. Beautiful space, a lovely place to dine. At peak lunchtime we had to wait 30 min for a table.
Decent amount of GF options. Dedicated fryer. Server staff was knowledgeable. I had the chimichuri steak and fries with no reactions. I would go back.
My burger and gluten free bun was absolutely delicious! The staff was great when the burger first came out a little underdone. They were fast efficient and helpful. I had the raspberry filled macaroon for dessert. It was the size of my hand and utterly delicious! I can’t wait to go back!
While I did not get sick from the food, every order in our party's came out wrong which makes me unsure about their precautions. All fries were cold and hard, the burger patty was dry, I asked for an over easy egg on my sandwich and they brought me two over medium (waiter specified they were over medium), put mayo on the sandwich when I said on the side, didn't give any mayo at all to another person in our party THEN gave them the wrong mayo. It was a complete waste of time and money. I don't know how this restaurant has so many good reviews.
I was so impressed with the food and the allergy protocols here!! First off, the food was so good! I got a fried chicken sandwich and French fries, and there was a pretty extensive menu of gluten free options! I was also really impressed that when the waitress took my order and i mentioned I had celiac, she said she would fill out a card to alert the kitchen. You can tell they have a great process in place for handling allergies, and I felt really safe eating here
Had such a great experience here! Went for lunch and ordered the hot honey fried chicken sandwich. Checked with the waiter (who also happened to be gluten free) and he confirmed that all gluten free fried items are cooked in their own separate fryer. It was DELICIOUS. It came with fries and slaw. I was so full from clearing the entire plate that I didn’t have any room for dessert but it looked like there were great options. Would definitely come back here again to experience their breakfast and dinner menus.
They have a GF menu and a 6 step safety process in the kitchen. Food was good. Server did bring a lemon cookie for the table to share, he didn’t say if it was GF or not (I didn’t eat it) but the rest of my table said it was amazing. You will need to advocate for yourself while here and ask questions.
One of the most delightful dining experiences i’ve had in Chicago as someone with celiac. Our waiter was extremely kind and helpful and asked right off the bat about food allergies. I informed him of my gluten allergy and he double checked everything we ordered to make sure it was super safe for me to eat. He brought out gluten free cake for my friends birthday but forgot to mention it was gluten free, so when he realized I hadn’t ate any he brought out a takeout bag with some gluten free treats for me to take home. Genuinely an incredible and relaxing meal.
I ordered off the gluten free menu an egg white omelette. It came with GF toast. My husband ordered the same but regular. When ours came out we had the same bread. It took forever to get the attention of the waitress and he finally had to get up and find her. She stated that mine was not GF and would bring me another plate. It came out in just a few minutes (way too fast IMO). She assured us it was a new omelet. The food was nothing to write home about (coffee was very good). When we were done with our food another waiter brought over a fresh GF plate and said it was made for our table. It’s obvious they just put my original on a new plate and added GF bread. Hoping I don’t feel it later but pretty upset about the the potential treatment of any allergies, etc.
I love Beatrix! Dinner was so good that we came back for breakfast. I ordered the grilled ahi tuna for dinner and had a GF brownie for dessert. I let the server know I have a gluten allergy both times. I’m very sensitive but felt fine afterwards. For breakfast, I had black coffee and a coffee cake and felt fine. I stopped back in for another brownie the next day! Some have said the case contains both gluten and gluten-free desserts. This is true, but they’re all on separate plates and labeled, and not touching eat other. Our server said the staff changes their gloves when you let them know it’s an allergy and they use individual paper sheets to pick up the desserts. My recommendation is to just be clear it’s a “gluten allergy” (I know celiac is not technically but to provide guidance for the staff) and order from their gluten free menu.
I had the bacon, cheddar and egg sandwich which came out on the driest GF bun that just fell apart/crumbled when I tried to eat it. The egg was in a square shape and could have bounced if thrown on the floor.
The menu had so many gluten free choices, but I won’t be back again to try them. My boyfriend had the normal French toast and said that was subpar as well.
