Closed (Oct 30, 2024) - We wish they hadn’t closed for good. This place had one of the best gluten-free menus in the area. Two of my kids have celiac, and we would occasionally go there for burgers, fries, and shakes. We’re saddened and disappointed that no other places nearby offer a similar concept (including dedicated fryers) for our celiac community. Our options for a quick and easy dinner out have decreased and limited to very few places to eat (and affordable) that we trust to eat.
Great burger and fries! Casual restaurant, yet slightly upscale burgers for eat-in, mobile or phone order or take-out. Perfectly cooked, fresh toppings and exactly shaped to fit the gf bun. Bun is soft, warm and tasty -- and it didn't dissolve or fall apart while eating. Cheese sauce for fries was also gf, with just a hint of peppery zing. Everything marked clearly. Definitely somewhere to mark for a return visit!
I have eaten here multiple times and they are always happy to customize my order to be gluten and dairy free. My order is delivered separately and is clearly marked gluten free. They offer gluten free buns and fries. Menu has gluten free options well marked. They also have salads on them menu. Everything is delicious.
My daughter and I have high allergies to gluten and celiac disease. Been going here for 5 years and never had a reaction. Thier sauce is also gluten free :). It is so worth it.
First time here, although it is in my neighborhood. Will definitely not be the last. My Burger on GF bun was delicious. The server brought out mine and my partner’s (not GF) separately so as to avoid confusion. Their grill is strictly sectioned for gf burgers and the fries were marked Gluten Free, which they explained were done in the dedicated gf fryer.
All around impressive experience with a very knowledgeable staff that explained the dedicated gf part of the kitchen to prevent cross contamination.
While we are both devoted carnivores, there were also vegetarian options, so there is something for everyone.
Celiac friendly. They have a dedicated kitchen section and take necessary precautions. Burgers were great and tasty, i liked that they had multiple types of sauces, each marked if they were GF or not. Great family destination. I would recommend the restaurant to put a bit less salt of their fries.
Staff was extremely knowledgeable about gluten free and what constitutes gluten free. I asked if the fries were fried in their own fryer and the server seemed surprised I would even ask. Was told “well they aren’t gluten free if they aren’t in their own fryer”. Yes!! They have a dedicated fryer for all gluten free orders. Order came out with a sticker indicating it to be gluten free. Bun was great! It didn’t fall apart at all. Will definitely be going back!!
Had an amazing GF burger and fries for lunch! The burger was perfectly cooked and one would never know the bun was GF without the cute sticker on the parchment paper. The amazing shoestring fries - my favorite variety - were absolutely delicious. I was so excited to be able to eat some yummy fries without having to worry about getting sick later on from any cross contamination! Lots of beverage choices, had a cold glass of iced tea, but really want to try a shake next time.
The staff was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to ensure there was no cross contamination! The owner came over and let us know they use a separate toaster, fryer, etc for gluten free food. On top of that, my food was brought out separately from the rest of our parties food. The OMG burger was delicious!
the staff were very knowledgeable, they have a dedicated fryer for fries. Food was absolutely delicious and completely fixed my craving for a good burger. I couldn't even tell that the bun was gluten free. Also! I got a vanilla milkshake and the person preparing it double checked before putting in cinnamon and sugar (which I omitted from my shake). Will absolutely go back over and over
Great find for the gluten free crowd! Dedicated fryer, grill area & toaster with many selections such as grilled chicken sandwiches & juicy burgers. GF rolls are amazing. Sweet potato & regulars fries are the best I have ever had. Shakes are delicious. Very knowledgeable & accommodating. For carb counters (my daughter is celiac with type 1 diabetes) there is extensive nutritional information online.
My son and I ate here for the first time last week on the recommendation of another Celiac family we know. The staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. I loved how the girl at the shake station brought my son's shake over and gave us a step-by-step description of her methods. The burger was tasty, and the manager came by and checked in with us to see how everything was. The various GF sauces available are clearly labeled GF. Everything was very clean. No ill effects after eating here. My newly-diagnosed teenage son is SO happy to be able to get a burger and fries out again. We'll be back!
This is my go to celiac safe burger place in the area. Their gluten free buns are pretty decent and don't crumble in your hands, their fries are good and cooked in a dedicated fryer, and they even have gluten free milkshakes. They take cross contamination into account when cooking and prepping their food, and I have never gotten sick after eating there.
I went here with my mom, dad and sister a few weeks ago and we all loved it. The food was really good, great buns, great fries. I also got a vanilla milkshake and there was a lot of cinnamon in it but it wasn't advertised as that so if you're planning on getting a milkshake just know there's a fair amount of cinnamon in it.
Dedicated gluten free space. Everything came out with a gluten free sticker, too. Have been twice and did not get sick either time.
The food here was delicious. I was so happy to order a hamburger that had a bun, and a bun that tasted like a regular bun at that. The burgers were just the right size (not gigantic like some places), and the milkshakes were made to order from fresh ingredients. Sorey Five Guys, but this is my new go to place when in Albany!
I stopped here on my drive from Buffalo to Boston. After terrible luck with food in WNY, this was a very welcome stop. They have a separate menu with quite a few options. I sat at the milkshake bar, and the woman behind the counter explained that there was a completely separate GF area of the kitchen (or perhaps a separate kitchen all together), and her decision to work there stemmed from the fact that she had gluten sensitivity and other food allergies and felt safe at work. I got a plain burger and sweet potato fries, and they were absolutely delicious! I wish I'd had room to try one of their GF milkshakes, because the options looked wonderful! There are multiple Burger21 locations, but none in cities that I frequent. Come to Boston!
GF buns and allegedly a separate fryer for fries. Good burger place.
