The people were friendly and caring, and were accommodating. HOWEVER, the "dedicated" fryer is apparently sometimes used during busy times (lunch) for chicken tenders and onion rings. My wife and daughter were *very* disappointed that they couldn't have fries. As for the burgers, they were indeed put in a container without a bun (as if that were enough) but although they said they would change their gloves, it's not clear that the gluten-free burgers (my wife and daughter's) would be handled/cooked separately. (If they changed their gloves and then made/packaged my and my sons' burgers alongside and at the same time as the GF ones, the GF burgers wouldn't be GF. I'm not sure they understood that.) No issues yet (a couple hours later) but we won't be going back.
This place was great! They offer gluten-free buns and they were soft and didn't fall apart. They ask you if you want your bun toasted and assembled (if not celiacs) or in its package still to not risk cc. I got the deluxe grilled chicken sandwich and it was delicious!
My fiancé has celiacs disease and it is always hard to find places that are good and have the ability to cater to her. The French Fries are cooked in a separate fryer than the breaded foods which is a plus and they even have gluten free buns. The only downfall of the gluten free buns is the inability to have them toasted because of the lack of multiple toasters, but they do provide lettuce wrapped burgers as an alternative.
As soon as I said celiac, they knew exactly what to do. We went ahead and got them disassembled because they suggested that it would make them even safer. Fries are GF. Great experience!
Amazing. They made everyone on staff know we had celiac disease and were very nice and took it seriously. I will definitely be back.
Very knowledgeable staff! The cashier has celiac herself and told me all about the extra steps they take to ensure their gluten free food is gluten free! They even have a separate gluten free area to assemble the burgers and sandwiches! The fries also have a separate area to ensure they are gluten free as well! I had the grilled chicken sandwich with the rosemary fries and it was absolutely delicious!
I love burgerville. I have Celiac and have not had a problem. I let them know I have this allergy; I ask them to change gloves; a fresh cooked hamburger, not one sitting around that may have cc, and hamburger unassembled with gluten free bun heated up in sealed bag, NOT toastedd; french fries cooked fresh with no seasonings put directly into paper food tray, not put into the metal holding & seasoning area to prevent cross contamination. I ask for ketchup and burgerville spread. I don't eat any french fries during walla-walla onion ring season (sometime in July) because a manager told me it is a messy process using flour for the batter which gets everywhere and since the dedicated frier is close to the one used for flour items, I wait until the promotion ends and the friers are cleaned out. I would give 5 stars, but the online interactive allergy menu doesn't work - it will say the deserts, salad dressings that are gluten free, but doesn't list burgers, condiments, lettuce, fries from a dedicated frier, or even the gluten free buns they carry. I contacted BV & they are looking into it.
Very gf aware. And each fries order is made to order so it's fresh and amazingly indulgent
I'm both gluten and casein intolerant. We didn't have time to personally vet the place ahead of time, but other locations were ok per reviews. I told the man behind the counter, "I have several food allergies, May I please see your allergy menu or ingredients list?" He wanted to know what I'm allergic to then said he can put my burger on a GF bun. I replied that I have other allergies and not all GF buns are safe, and nicely asked to see the ingredient list for the buns. That's when the circus started. He told me he has a culinary arts degree, his mom has food intolerances, and it took me several more requests before someone produced the list...which he held in his hand and asked what ingredients I need to avoid. I was almost crying by this point. There were no other places in the area that were open and I was starving. When I asked for the manager, he said he was and finally let me look at the ingredients. It was such a negative experience that I wake up in the middle of the night still upset about it. I was polite the whole time and asked for the tools I needed but I keep trying to think of what I could have done differently.

So disappointed with gluten free burger. I ordered a classic burger and was pleasantly surprised when I was asked if it would be OK to toast the bun with other regular buns. (I said no, don't toast it at risk of cross-contamination.) I received a container with just a hamburger patty plus a bun in a sealed plastic bag. Then there was some ketchup packets and a container of their special spread (which is gluten free). Well, that was the driest burger I have ever eaten and I put all the stuff I got on it. Won't be doing that again. At least I'm not sick so that's worth something.
I've eaten here many times with no reaction. If you state it's for a gluten allergy they will change their gloves and clean the food prep area prior to making your order. I ask for a burger on a GF bun, unassembled & untoasted. If they toast the bun it's on the same grill as gluten buns. When I asked in the past, they have a dedicated fryer for fries.
Great fast food burger with GF bun. Happy to be able to eat after a 5 hour flight. Knowledgeable enough to tell me toasting would cross contaminate and labeled my ticket allergic. Unlike the previous reviewers, they told me they did not have a dedicated fryer so the fries were not safe. Wish I could have had those too!
Excellent experience here. Very familiar with Celiac Disease (called my order a "celiac burger") and cross contamination. my burger was assembled in the walk-in to avoid cross contamination and fries were cooked in a dedicated fryer.
Great spot for celiac travelers at PDX. Extremely knowledgable server. Dedicated fryer for fries. Had my own bun with me, didn't need it they have Udis. Awesome.
I don't fly often, or eat burgers often, but when I return home I'm often starving. I usually head over to Concourse D for a milkshake and a cheeseburger on an Udi's GF bun. They made sure to tell me that if I had the bun toasted, it could come into contact with gluten. It was toasted, and I was fine.
It's a good place to eat if you are gluten intolerant. To be honest the gluten free bun they have isn't all that great. However it's a good place to eat when you are in a rush and need something gluten free. Just let them know that you are gluten free and they will do a good job of keeping it from getting cross contaminated. The fries are gluten free and not cooked with gluten foods.
This Burgerville location is totally on it! They have special procedures for putting food in the fryers to prevent cross-contamination of the dedicated French fry fryer. They have a dedicated gluten free milkshake machine. The buns come in separate packaging for safety - they offer to toast it but the toaster isn't dedicated. Every manager and employee I have spoken to at this location is informed and PLEASANT. Most Burgervilles do not go to this extent, but this one is great!
the review that said burgervill cross contaminates is flat out wrong. if you notify them, they will be as cautious and helpful as you desire. they will bring sealed condiments and bun if you're very intolerant to any trace of gluten, and the fries are always cooked in a separate fryer with only other fries. Or if trace amounts don't bother you, you can have your gluten free bun toasted and assembled to your own specifications. They have Gluten free cheddar cheese available instead of American cheese if you want a cheeseburger too. Some people posting these "ratings either have agenda's or have no clue about the subject.
I've definately had better burgers, but for a safe gluten free place everyone can eat at, they can't be beat. The buns are not contaminated if you tell them you are intolerant and ask them not to grill them. Yes, the bun is not as good just nuked to warm it and yes, to be sure there is not contamination, you must assemble the burger yourself. I don't see it as that big of a deal. I usually just ask for a sauce on the side as the burger is not assembled and I actually get more sauce on my bun as a result. It is imperative you inform them when you order you are gluten intolerant to prevent contamination though.
