Staff is very friendly and helpful when you ask for gluten free crust. California Pizza Kitchen’s gluten free crust is gluten free certified. The crust is pretty great, and they have a wide range of toppings. There is a somewhat separate kitchen space for the gluten free pizzas, however I cannot say it’s 100% celiac safe.
The gluten free menu was kind of lacking, only having pizza options and like a grilled chicken option plus salads, but I just got a plain pie. Was nice because a manager has to oversee and cook the entire gluten free meal and she came out with the pizza letting me know that. My only problem was that it was overpriced ($16 for a small cheese pizza) but I guess that’s expected in the middle of Los Angeles.
The options on the menu are limited (without modifications) but the food was good. I tried a pizza and it was very different (better) than the boxed version at the store. Staff was friendly and I did not get sick.
If you are gluten and dairy free be warned - while they have “certified gluten free” pizzas, there is cheese inside the cauliflower crust, so pizza is not an option. There are some other options that are gluten and dairy free, but they are not certified. The meal I had was okay, but I was disappointed by the lack of pizza offerings. Seems odd that they would offer certified gf pizzas that aren’t an option for many people who need to avoid gluten since dairy is frequently an issue for the same folks.
They do not have many options for gluten allergy. However I did have the sausage mushroom pizza and it was pretty good and more importantly I did not get sick. Just wish there were more choices.
Cauliflower crust pizza was absolutely delicious! Felt 100% safe eating here with their “certified” gluten free pizzas! Staff VERY knowledgeable!! Would return without a second thought!!
Fantastic place...staff is friendly, helpful, GF Pizza is certified GF and prepared safely, manager brings food out when ordered GF. They make it very clear that the food is in fact GF. Would eat here every night if I could!
Employees always ask if you are ordering GF for allergy/Celiac or preference. If allergy/Celiac, then they take ultra precaution to avoid cross contamination. All employees seem to be pretty seriously educated regarding food safety. I appreciate that! Also, their GF pizza is really good!
Staff was very nice and knowledgeable. The waitress even went and talked to the chef to see if a salad dressing I was interested in was celiac friendly. I didn’t like the gluten free pizza crust. I personally found it to be very grainy.
I watched the guy make my pizza because i was waiting to pick up at the bar. He changed his gloves, took the pizza out of the oven with a separate paddle, went to a dedicated prep area. Box came sealed with tape labeled GF. I felt really confident about no cross-contamination. Also, the GF crust is make from cauliflower and it’s delicious.
The level of safety against XC is great. The pizza was just ok. The gf crust was a little undercooked. I'll probably try the cauliflower crust next time. Other than that, I had no reaction. It's also in a great location. My ex girlfriend and I walked around the mall, ate at CPK, and then went to AMC across the street to watch a movie. The perfect date night (for a couple of college kids).
Great pizza, great experience! I spoke with the manager on the phone before eating here, and she told me they have a separate area in the kitchen for preparing their CERTIFIED gluten free pizzas, and extensive procedures in place to prevent cross contamination (approved by the Gluten Intolerance Group, no less!), including changing gloves and using separate utensils. I asked for the manager when I got there, and she let our server know I have a gluten allergy. There are 5 different pizzas on the certified gf menu, and I felt pretty darn safe selecting from one of these. IMPORTANT: As far as I know the gf pizzas are ONLY gf if you order off the certified gf menu, and don't ask for any substitutions or additions. For example, if you ask for additional toppings, they would likely have to get them from the main part of the kitchen, so the pizza would no longer be considered gf. Also, keep in mind that everything marked gf on the regular menu only contains "no gluten ingredients," so ordering off the regular menu could be risky if you have celiac or gluten intolerance. Now for the fun part! The manager herself brought our pizzas out, and they had a little flag in them that said Gluten Free. I had the Margherita pizza. The cauliflower crust was thin and crispy with a pleasant chew, just like regular thin crust pizza. Came out piping hot with deliciously gooey cheese! It was honestly better than a lot of regular pizzas I've had before I was diagnosed, and I felt great afterwards!
I asked for the GF menu and was very reassured with the certified safe range. The staff were very knowledgeable and reassured me that my pizza had been made separately. I just had the GF margarita and it was delicious! Non CD husband also enjoyed his normal pizza.
Staff knowledgeable, separate gf menu. Food handled safe, new toppings and gf pizza cutter. It tasted great, I ordered the gf margherita pizza. Shared Waldorf salad, server noted to have it prepared in a clean bowl. Everyone loved their meals. Felt good!
Not a huge GF menu but they do have certified gluten free pizzas in both a larger size and in a kids size that includes a kid sized drink. The crust is a cauliflower crust and was surprisingly tasty. (I can’t stand the taste of cauliflower, but love the crust.) My daughter and I both have celiac and neither of us have had a reaction any of the times we have ordered there. I spoke with a manager the last time we ordered (a couple of weeks ago) and he was extremely friendly and interested in keeping us free of gluten. It’s the only local place we feel safe eating pizza anymore.
Very good g-free pizza with cauliflower crust that didn’t taste like it. 😊Designated area w a good variety of toppings you can adjust to your needs. Justin was very knowledgeable and helpful in making a selection. I’m celiac and did fine. Highly recommend.
Wish they had more variety but it’s amazing that they have certified gf pizzas made in a dedicated area. Pricey for a little pizza but worth it to know my kids can eat safely. As always, talk to the manager and request a gf menu. Let them know it’s a necessity and not a preference.
This location (possibly all?) doesn’t have a GF crust except cauliflower crust. Super nice staff but GF menu is less than stellar. No real pizza crust options.
Excellent place! Very knowledgeable and kind staff. Delicious pizza, even my partner who is not gluten free thinks that it's one of the top pizza places. Their app also allows you to weed out menu items you can't have.
I specifically requested a Gluten Free pizza, saying it was an allergy and not a preference due to my Celiac's. I know at one time they carried a GF crust that was not cauliflower so when my food arrived, I assumed it was that. I questioned the waitress just to be sure, because my intuition was that something was off. She assured me everything was fine. I had almost eaten the whole thing when I was told that it was not gluten free. The manager pretended to act shocked, had me fill out an incident report, but also told me I should have asked for the GF menu in the first place. I got sick in the bathroom before I left the restaurant and I am still feeling sick. They didn't take responsibility for the negligence and I wouldn't wish this upon anyone.
They have a separate GF menu and made a special effort to consult the cook about individual items. The cauliflower crust pizza is phenomenal! Dessert options are limited to ice cream. I will be returning here often!
Pretty good for a cheap pizza place. It’s always a good last option.
We came here our first night in Waikiki. We had the BBQ pizza on GF cauliflower crust and the Italian sausage option. Our server handed us a menu that had the GF options on it. The server seemed super rushed and not interested in our allergies, so we were nervous she wouldn't talk to kitchen and take precautions about cross contamination, but the food was good and no reactions. We wouldn't eat here by choice, just because it wasn't very special or exciting, but the flavor was good and we didn't get sick - just not anything really worth craving again.
We had the privilege to order a gluten free cauliflower crust pizza with the General Manager, Brett Reed. Our daughter has several allergies and Mr. Reed personally went back to talk with the cooks in regards to her allergies. He was so incredible and we really felt at ease ordering with him as he was very much aware of allergy safety. We will be returning here.
Great cauliflower crust pizza!
We came here expecting very good gluten free pizza based on what we had heard from others. However, the GF pizza was just on their cauliflower crust, which although fine, was quite flat and a little oily. Also, the cauliflower crust contains both eggs and milk, so if that is a problem for you, there is nothing you can have here except for salads. They were cautious and careful about our gluten free order. In general if you have other allergies, this is not the best place, both because of the ingredients of the crust and because when we asked to change up some toppings our server got a little touchy and reminded us forcefully that CPK does not have a design-your-own pizza option.
I ordered a Cobb salad that they assured me was gluten free and I was very ill. Don't pretend you are are serving gluten free food if you're not!!! My husband had a great meal because he can eat gluten.
Excellent Pizza both times I’ve been. Really tasty GF options.
