This was my first time eating at CPK since my Celiac diagnosis. I was pleased to find a few pizzas with the blue triangle logo, which means the preparation process is validated by the GIG (Gluten Intolerance Group). I ordered the gf bbq chicken pizza, and it came with a gluten free flag in it. It was a thin crust and was unfortunately very burnt (they were extremely busy that night), but I felt fine after eating it and enjoyed the opportunity to eat a fresh pizza for once!
We ate here because our flight got in late and we were too tired and hungry to search further. My husband and I split a pizza and each had a wedge salad. I realize it’s a chain but man, no thought or love went into the food. On the bright side, the place was dirty and smelled like an old dishrag.
I told the waitress I had to eat gf. She asked if it was health or choice and when I told her health, she sent the chef to our table. He explained their procedures and that they prepared the pizza in a separate area of the kitchen. I had the mushroom and pepperoni pizza. It came marked with a gf stick. Tasty!
Waited 45 minutes and was never waited on. It wasn’t even busy. So disappointed as I have heard great things about this store.
DO NOT EAT HERE!!! i know that it seems like a quick and easy option for gf but they got our order wrong THREE TIMES. i don’t know why we kept trying honestly- we told the manager that we could’ve been hospitalized because of them giving us gluten pizzas and he responded with phrases like “calm down” and kept cutting me off and talking over me. DO NOT give this business your money please. i also saw the manager go back and yell very rudely at his employees, many of which seemed scared of him, and rightfully so. also the call service is horrible and needs to be fixed in order for mistakes like this to not happen anymore. Zero stars. never returning, and i urge you not to as well.
We visited here. They have a special gluten free menu. Just ask and then they will bring it over. They told us that they have a special prep area and wrap it to cook so it is safe. They did a great job and made sure to keep everything clear about what they were doing.
I had a great experience at the California Pizza Kitchen! Although my server wasn’t the friendliest, he ensured me that the gluten free pizza had its own area to be made in! Then the manager brought it out for me and told me it was gluten free! Really tasty thin crust and delicious pepperoni! 😁
such good cauliflower crust!! super crispy and good. when i ordered my pizza, the waitress assured me all items were GF. then when my pizza was served, the manager brought it on a separate plate and assured me it was completely GF. i’ve ate here multiple times and have had no issues and i’m very skeptical when eating out!! definitely recommend
We came here our first night in Waikiki. We had the BBQ pizza on GF cauliflower crust and the Italian sausage option. Our server handed us a menu that had the GF options on it. The server seemed super rushed and not interested in our allergies, so we were nervous she wouldn't talk to kitchen and take precautions about cross contamination, but the food was good and no reactions. We wouldn't eat here by choice, just because it wasn't very special or exciting, but the flavor was good and we didn't get sick - just not anything really worth craving again.
We came here expecting very good gluten free pizza based on what we had heard from others. However, the GF pizza was just on their cauliflower crust, which although fine, was quite flat and a little oily. Also, the cauliflower crust contains both eggs and milk, so if that is a problem for you, there is nothing you can have here except for salads. They were cautious and careful about our gluten free order. In general if you have other allergies, this is not the best place, both because of the ingredients of the crust and because when we asked to change up some toppings our server got a little touchy and reminded us forcefully that CPK does not have a design-your-own pizza option.
If you are in the mood for a pizza while in Hawaii, try them out for a quick bite. Our server was very knowledgeable and had a separate gluten free menu. I always love their original barbecue chicken pizza. You can get it in a g-free crust or (as the server suggested) the g-free cauliflower crust. It was delicious and I felt great!
Small dedicated GF/Celiac menu (4 pizzas), BUT with peace of mind as they are the four that adhere to the strict protocol to avoid cross contamination. (They can make their other pizzas on a GF crust or their new cauliflower crust, but cannot guarantee no CC). I had the BBQ Chicken Pizza with Avocado and Pineapple along with a GF Apple Cider - and it was so good! Server was friendly and knowledgeable, reasonable pricing too.
The gluten-free options are clearly indicated on the menu (not a lot), but there are prepared in the same kitchen as the regular meals (so was I told by our waitress). There is also an independent menu for strictly gluten-free pizzas (4 sorts). Our waitress was quite aware of the situation and gave good advice. I had a pizza which was quite tasty (so far one of the best pizza dough I've tried).
Short list, I think 4 pizzas, that are assured GF, which was very re-assuring. The waiter was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, fulfilling all of our requests for GF info on ingredients and processes. Our table had both GF and Non-GF eaters and special care was given to the GF food. I ate well, enjoyed the outside balcony table and had no ill effects. Will definitely eat there again.
If you are going for pizza I am sure it's celiac friendly. Otherwise there s NOTHING else on the menu for a celiac- even salads as all the ingredients are pre-prepped. Last time I was at this restaurant in Waikiki I was able to eat their salads but obviously the chain has gone toward the fast food end of the market and there is no room for adapting fir celiacs. In fairness the server knew to warn me and that is a plus!
Got the GF pepperoni pizza at this location, was a bit apprehensive since it wasn’t listed, but I’ve had good experiences at other CPK locations so gave it shot. It was great! They even have a corner in the kitchen, away from everything else and behind the oven, that has a big GF sign. The waiter was very attentive and knew all about Celiac and explained how they handled everything carefully and away from cross contact. Paired with a yummy happy hour pinot noir, it was a great experience.
I got sick the evening that I ate here but I can’t say for sure that this was the cause. I told the waiter I had coeliac which he noted and the pizza came out with a gluten free marker on it. The timing of my symptoms match up with eating here. Regardless of this, I found the pizza to be pretty tasteless and greasy. There are far better GF pizzas out there.
