Even though they have a GF menu, they will not guarantee it will actually be GF. All their meat proteins have gluten - from the marinade. The chips are not GF either. Very disappointing.
The manager was AMAZING! My songs Celiacs and the manager greeted us at the door. I asked about chips and he immediately got them started himself. When asked about nachos he got their regular chips that they fry and put them through the over himself so my son could have sturdy nachos. Absolutely recommend!!
The gluten free menu was sparse and did contain mostly meatless menu items, but the grilled shrimp rellenos were amazing. While gluten is merely an intolerance issue for me, I did notice that they are fairly forthcoming about possible cross contamination and request that you inform them of the severity of any/all food allergies.
I ate at Chuy's last night and was very disappointed. All their meat is filled with gluten so vegetarian fare is all you can have. Unless you eat shrimp which I do but not at many restaurants. Gluten free menu is small and not appealing at all. I had the veggie enchiladas and still had a reaction from cross contamination. I can't even give this place one star! Well, you can't post a review without at least one star so one star it gets.
This restaurant is not Celiac friendly at all. Don’t go there.
The manager I spoke to was very knowledgeable about celiac. He advised me on food options even though I am gluten intolerant (not celiac), and made sure to ask me if I was ok with cross contamination. He even asked how I did with dairy and spices! Very impressed.
worst Mexican food I've ever had!!! not to mention there's only one thing on the menu I was told I could eat. My hubby ordered off regular menu and said his food was also mediocre at best....and that was pushing it. I don't understand the draw of this place when Columbus has such great mexican options.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE Have been wanting to try since they opened. Granted it was Friday night, but waitress took drinks order, asked if they had a GF menu was told “no- I’ll try to find someone to help you if someone’s not too busy”. Waited for 15 minutes for no one to even acknowledge us. Very poor service!
Nothing is gluten free except the dinner salad. The corn and flour tortillas are hand made in the same area and have cross contamination. The chicken is marinated in beer. The chips are fried in the same oil as flour products.
My server was less than helpful. I was told what I ordered would be prepared gluten free. I ordered a veggie enchilada (corn tortilla) with no sides, no sauce. It came with the unsafe sides running into the allegedly safe part of my food. You could tell they just didn't get it. Very disappointed seeing as reviews from 9-11 months ago were positive.

We normally eat fajitas, making sure the meat is not marinated in soy sauce. To date all Mexican restaurants have accommodated us. Chuy's marinates all meat in beer! We also eat no flour of any kind, so enchiladas are not an option for us. The manager brought us the gluten-free menu and said everything would be cross contaminated so if we were celiac, he didn't recommend us eating here. Literally the only things we could eat on the Chuy's "gluten free" menu were refried beans and lettuce. We had some good margaritas and left without eating.

The manager my husband spoke with made it seem like he wouldn't have much to pick from but that they could accommodate gluten free as well as a seafood allergy. We arrive and he spoke with a different manager and she said that we shouldn't even be there and there was absolutely no way they could accommodate either. She said they don't (and wouldn't) change gloves between fish and chicken, seafood is prepared in the same place as salads and there is gluten in vertically all of their products and the few things that don't contain it are still completely unsafe because of how they run their kitchen. We ended up leaving before being seated and eating elsewhere. Absolutely not celiac friendly and honestly I don't think it would be a good option for anyone avoiding gluten or with any type of food allergies.

We called ahead to ask about Gluten-free options, and were told we could eat many things. Upon arrival, the manager said we could only have lettuce and unmarinated chicken breast. We had to walk out, since there was nothing for us to eat! How infuriating!
Only option is salad with roasted chicken. There are no gf chips, tortillas, or basically anything I was told.

Waiter and manager were very nice. But they said their tortilla chips are made in a shared fryer. Also, their corn tortillas are made on the same surface as their flour tortillas. So if you have celiac or are concerned about cross contamination, the choices are limited. I had tortilla soup without the tortilla strips on top, which was very good but I left a bit hungry. Salads are options, too. Based on the previous review, I was excited for their corn tortillas, so I was kind of disappointed I couldn't try them. :(
I am a celiac and the staff at Chuys is on point! I have been eating at this restaurant for 7 months and I have never gotten sick from their food. Many of their items can be made gluten free, and many of the waiters/waitresses are knowledgeable, and can facilitate your needs. I can't soy, rice, and cheese, but they can several items on their menu to pick from that can be trailered to your liking. Dont be shy, try them out. Explain your needs and go from there! I can't thank the staff, and managers enough for the great service and food they provide!
Chef was very helpful in explaining what was gluten free/contaminated. I ended up getting fajitas without rice and with plain (not marinated) chicken. I opted for the soft corn tortillas even though they are cooked on the same surface as flour and did not have a reaction. (I have celiac disease)
All the GF options where meatless since all their meat is soaked in beer, very limited GF menu. Long wait to order, to get drinks, to get the children's drinks with their meals, to get the children's ice cream. It is Tex-Mex and Mexican like their sign says.
ChuysHas no distinct gluten-free menu; but, the staff immediately consult with the manager when a guest alerts them about a food allergy. The manager, Liz, first requested some details about my allergy; then proceeded to explain what I *could* safely consume based on my description/explanation. Afterwards, she provided warnings about what not to eat. She said her patrons' safety is more important than a sale. And on that note she has recommended that some customers dine elsewhere. My server, Johnny, reiterated the menu items that were not safe. This is standard protocol. The chips and pico de gallo are divine. And, the complimentary jalapeño ranch dipping sauce makes is excellent too. They have just enough salt to make them interesting but not too much. I ordered the Stacked Enchiladas (made with blue corn tortillas and pulled chicken). And for $1, I added the queso sauce. Great experience! Typically I reserve five stars for restaurants with GF menus. But I'm giving them the max b/c of the manager's personal tutorial. Johnny was very knowledgable about the menu and the restaurant's operation; and provided some great suggestions. Kudos Chuy's for your efforts to accommodate those who are Gluten-challenged (Celiacs: Caveat Emptor!)
I had a great experience at Chuy's. When I told the server I am gluten free she had the manager, Betty, come out and thoroughly explain my props and contamination concerns. They fry their tortilla chips in a separate fryer and make their own tortillas from scratch. No gluten free menu but they were very accommodating for my gluten and dairy allergies.
