I have eaten here two times so far and both times were great! A little nerve racking walking in and looking at the menu, it seems like such a "normie" place. But they have their gf menu on their website, and the server the first time mentioned that you can even make the daily specials gf too. I've only ordered the gf penne with gf meatballs and pomodoro sauce. And the second time I was even offered a gf roll (did end up costing a few dollars) so I didn't have to hungrily watch my bf eat the fresh bread before our meals. So good and have not gotten sick at all! Both servers I've had were very knowledgeable.

They are very nice, and they are very accommodating, but be advised, their gf pizza is very standard crust.

Very good food! Very kind waitress. Glutenfree and diary free no problem . I have had a role with very delicious oil. And a glutenfree pizza with veggie cheese. Very good and no problems after dinner. I will recommend this restaurant very much!

The food was fantastic. The waitress was very knowledgeable and I was even able to order alfredo sauce (it was gf!❤) I would definitely eat there again.

This is some really great Italian food. Gluten free options are fairly abundant here with Gluten free Pasta, Pizza and Meatballs available. Most dishes with either of those carbs can be ordered gluten free and taste delish. Pizza toppings are also fairly unique but have plenty of options for customization. The biggest fault is probably the fact that the gluten free bread is literally just a hamburger roll. However, it does come with some amazing balsamic olive oil which fairly makes up for it. Overall, I can 100% recommend it for a great sit down pizza and pasta experience.

So nice to have a celiac friendly place in Ithaca. They clearly state in their menu that they use fresh water for the gluten free pasta! The pizza is cooked on a screen in the pizza oven and tastes great. My Mom and I are very sensitive Celiacs and no reaction from pasta or pizza.

Great food, helpful staff, no reaction! The pizza crust is especially good. It's one of the few gf crusts I've had that's actually crunchy.

Didn’t go in person but my gf brought me home a GF four cheese pizza and it was amazing. Crust was crunchy but not too dense. I said to her “this is the first thing that has tasted really good to me in weeks.” Plan to get so many more meals here.

The food here was delicious! Gluten free menu and awesome options. I got a pizza and it was delicious, would highly recommend. Not on the Ithaca commons and atmosphere is fine but the food was worth it.

We ordered chicken Parmesan (they used grilled chicken), Caesar salad and cheese pizza. Each tasted great. We would definitely order from here again. Person who took our phone order was kind and courteous. She relayed all the items that were GF.

The gluten free gnocchi was really good. Would eat here everyday if we lived here.
The menu options are great and I have always loved coming here because of the variety of gluten free options. I have gotten sick a few times. After sitting at the pizza bar station, I will never order a gluten free pizza again. The cross contamination is extreme. No gloves, no hand washing. Flour covered hands that were just buried in regular pizza dough are then dipping into the toppings... and then making a “gluten free” pizza using the same unwashed hands and toppings. The ladle for the sauce contacts the regular dough and the gluten free crust. The same pizza cutter is used as well.
Visited 10 October. They’ve a good-sized separate menu which included pizza, pasta, and a few other things. Staff was knowledgeable and it was safely prepared. Pizza was a thin crust, but pretty good; I’d get it again.

Great gluten free options for my Celiac son - he was very happy to have gluten free gnocchi and meatballs. For the rest of us in the family who are not GF, the food was rather salty.
Yes
This place is awesome! Delicious food, knowledgeable staff, family friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!
Yes
Dedicated allergen menu that explains how things are prepared. The gluten free penne with Alfredo was amazing. The pizza crust was great, but I do wish they used real fresh mozzarella and fresh mushrooms, probably won’t order that again. Knowledgeable staff that made me feel safe and were able to explain the preparation process of the food.
Yes
Great pizza separated from the oven surface and delicious wings cooked in dedicated fryer oil. A little pricey, but definitely worth it for a birthday or special occasion. As long as you tell the server you are celiac/gluten sensitive they’ll explain how they keep the gluten free dishes separate. I’ve gone there over 10 times in the past 4 years without incident. Definitely try this place if you are looking for good GF food and don’t mind paying a little extra for it.

Good pizza and great chicken wings! Happy to have found this place!

they have a great gluten free menu and even have desert choices!

The pizza was gluten free but tasted like cardboard. The other food was not great. The people I was with did not finish and did not want to take the leftovers home.

I was amazed to find yet another restaurant in the Ithaca area that takes gf so seriously. I had trouble deciding between the gnocchi and the pizza. I'm giving only 4 because I thought the quality was just ok but it was safe. There are better crusts out there and the meatballs tasted processed. On the other hand the sauce was quite good and they did have a df Daiya cheese option.

Seriously, this is the first restaurant review that I have ever posted. I had such a great meal at Ciao. I am a celiac (for about 8 years) and I come to Ithaca about four times a year. I couldn't take room service or a mediocre meal one more night, so I Google gluten-free pizza, and Ciao came up. I tried it, and had a fabulous meal, and evening. I was eating alone, at the pizza bar, and I watched the GF protocol of my pizza the whole time. The atmosphere was great; the pizza was great; my server (Gabrielle) was great; and the GF chocolate mousse was great. A GREAT GLUTEN FREE DINNER.

On a road trip to upstate NY for a wedding we stopped at Ciao for dinner after reading such great reviews on here. I don't know where to start when it comes to review this restaurant. Ciao offers so many awesome gluten free options. Between our party of four, two of us cannot have gluten and this place was ideal. We split an order of the Polenta Fries with roasted red pepper ketchup that were fantastic. The gluten free pizza crust was one of the best I've had. We tried the Quattro Formaggio and the Roma Special between the two of us and both were so good. I tried the cider they had available as well and it was nice and refreshing to pair with the gluten free menu. If only we could get Ciao to open a second location in Delaware, we'd be all set!

Extensive GF menu and great food. Quattro Formaggio pizza was salty but overall delicious. Would definitely reccomend!
Great GF menu and wait staff very knowledgeable.

Great place, very knowledgeable about gluten free, Cross contamination etc. GF pizza is made on a purchased Rich's brand crust. It is cooked in a shared oven but the GF pizzas are cooked on raised screens to avoid cc. They have a separate GF menu. Food and service were great and I didn't get sick. Owned by the same owner as the Boat Yard Grill downtown on the water. Note: they do not have a dedicated fryer. Some of the GF items are cooked in the fryer (polenta fries) the menu is very clear about this but be sure to ask questions depending on how careful you need to be with cross contamination.
Yes
Food is OK, and menu is informative. Was served a non-GF beer by mistake, which I only realized after taking a sip. Will likely return, but not during the dinner rush.
No
Very delicious and no symptoms after. We ordered the polenta fries as an appetizer, gluten free penne pasta with meatballs and pomodoro sauce, gluten free pizza, and chocolate mousse for dessert. The polenta fries were amazing!! It was nice to see that they had gluten free meatballs, although they weren't that great. The gluten free menu has many options and it's a place I definitely recommend and will go to again.
The server was pleasant and knowledgeable. I had the Eggplant Manicotti which came with Penne Pasta. It was delicious. My salad, a $2.50, with the lime vinaigrette was also very nice. The meatballs were small, rubbery and not very tasty. I did not get sick. Still five stars, just don’t order the meatballs.
Delicious gluten free meatballs and pizza. They also have gf gnocchi but were out of it when we ate here. Location is easy to find and service was very accommodating.
First evening to the area and we needed a restaurant who had a gluten free menu for our daughter!! The smile on her face when she was eating the pizza!! Priceless.....great night and start to our holiday vacation!
Very knowledgeable about cross contamination and very nice gf menu selection
