You have to look through a long allergen list to figure out what you can eat. It isn’t easily navigated, and would be better if they just separated the very few things that you can eat from the rest.
I asked for no gravy on the mashed potatoes but they brought them with gravy anyway. The gravy was touching the steak fries and the grilled cat fish. I said i couldn’t have it and she said she will have them remake the mashed potatoes. I said i cant have ANY of it because the gravy is touching everything - she made a face like i was a toddler that didn’t like food touching which upset my husband and he had to explain gluten intolerance and celiac to her.
They ended up remaking it all and everything came back out on different plates. Food was fine, experience was awful.
Our sever Ashley has Celiac Disease herself so was very Knowledgeable about cross contamination and was able to tell the cooks to prepare our orders separately on the grill. 2 celiacs dining there we had a burger (no bun) and grilled chicken tenders and some gf sides. No reactions.
I had family come in for a visit while staying in the area. I usually have to drive to Raleigh or Fayetteville to find something to eat. (There are a couple BBQue restaurants a little closer though). They all wanted to meet for breakfast & I hv avoided Cracker Barrel due to the fact they mainly have pancakes & biscuits. The corporate site recommends asking for the manager. I did. Ryan came to the front hosting area & we spoke about my issues. He assured me that he would alert the staff & the waitress. I was able to have eggs (I suggest scrambled) I got over easy & then realized there was nothing to sop it up with so scrambled is a better bet. I had three strips of bacon & fruit. It was nice to be able to eat. When the waitress got to the table, she already knew I had Celiac. I'll definitely go back to Cracker Barrel.
Unfortunately decided not to eat at this particular franchise.
Seating hostess could not find a gf menu, asked for support and second hostess pointed out that regular menu was marked with options.
Her words.....items marked with a carrot are gf.
When pointed out that that symbol was for vevegetarian she claimed.....same thing.
So we promptly left.
Suggest better training is needed from head office!
This is a chain restaurant. The choices are few but adequate for breakfast. They have sausage and bacon and I’m not sure if the ham is gluten free. I had scrambled cheese eggs, bacon ( very salty), plain hash browns and a yummy bowl of fresh fruit. They do have an allergies book available . I was glad I looked because it said that their grits had gluten ?!
Great southern food restaurant. However, the menu at this restaurant did not have GF items marked. I was able to find the allergen menu online before ordering my food and could find what menu items are wheat-free (not marked as “gluten-free”). I had the bbq ribs with southern green beans and sweet baby carrots. All delicious and I did not feel like I missed out on anything except the biscuits and corn bread (which are high in calories so probably a good thing I couldn’t eat them). Several sides and entrée options, and only vanilla ice cream for dessert is GF.
