We Went this week to Davios with a large group for a birthday celebration with my 2 teenage children who have Celiac. We Made it well known when making reservations, upon arrival and again when ordering . Both my children ordered the same meal (GF rolls, clam chowder, pasta with marinara). After leaving the restaurant, both kids were violently ill within 2 hrs. My daughter was so sick that she was unconscious on a harbor cruise and required a wheelchair to get off the boat. Upon contacting the manager the next day, the response I received was that it was impossible for them to have received any food that was not GF and they must have eaten the popovers. My kids have been diagnosed with celiac for 14yrs. There is no possibility of them eating the bread on the table and were absolutely served food that was not GF. This is the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant and the management response was completely indifferent. I would seriously consider going to this restaurant if you have Celiac.
Several members of our group had celiac and the staff was knowledgeable & attentive to our needs. The server noticed we were holding GF menus and offered to bring GF rolls (which were house-made & delicious) along with dedicated butter before we even asked. The dessert cart server must have also been informed about our GF needs before coming to our table because she pointed out which options were GF before we even asked. When we had a question about one, she said she believed it was GF but wanted to confirm it. She returned promptly with an answer that it too was safe. The manager delivered our GF meals. The GF menu is extensive and there were several GF dessert options too. We’ve been there often and never had a problem. Great food & good service!
Would definitely come back to this Davios! As soon as we sat down I was given a gluten free menu and rolls were ordered for me. The gluten free gnocchi is very soft, but delicious. We also ordered the GF baked Alaska which had a flourless cake topped with strawberry gelato under the toasted meringue. Of course when we left we were also given the GF coconut macaroons!
I became violently ill after going here for a special occasion last year - I was so excited to see the gf menu, was reassured by waitstaff that all of my food was Celiac safe. I got two half portions of pasta dishes, one gnocchi and another penne. It was delicious but I was so sick after. I’m not sure what went wrong but I will never be going back to this location
We enjoyed a very nice dinner here. They have a wide variety of gluten free options. There were plenty of appetizers, salads, pastas/risottos, mains, steaks and fish and plenty of sides. They offer the pastas/risottos in a half portion for an appetizer with many different flavors.
I enjoyed a shrimp risotto for an appetizer that was so flavorful and delicious. I had the chicken for dinner that came with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were amazingly delicious and the sauce that came with the chicken was so good. For dessert I was able to enjoy the baked Alaska - it was made with gluten free coconut cake and coconut gelato and a delicious sauce.
The rest of the table were gluten eating so they started off with popovers and ended the meal with a coconut macaroon that I was not able to enjoy. I was a bit disappointed they had such an extensive gluten free menu but not a gluten free roll to start with like everyone else.
My wife has celiac and today was her birthday. She had said that she wanted to get Italian for her birthday, and I thought this place would be a great option since it has a gluten free menu. They even let us put our dietary restrictions on the reservation. When we got there, we quickly realized that our waiter was not being attentive to our gluten free needs. When ordering, we tried to make it as clear as possible that the gluten restriction was because of an allergy, but the waiter was not very attentive. A few hours later, we found out my wife got glutened by something we ate at the restaurant. They lure you in by letting you put your restrictions on the reservations and having gf menus ready for you, but don’t fall for it. If you have celiac, avoid this place at all costs.
Great service, attention to details and gf accommodations from start to end. Didn’t get sick (celiac).
