Lots of delicious gluten free options and knowledgeable staff
Somewhat annoyed that the menu isn't clearer. Anything marked GF that is prepared in a wok has cross contact with gluten-items, so it's not actually GF. Our table ordered a bunch of items, and server checked a separate list to let me know what I could have. What I had was delicious (crudo and a salmon dish) the rest of the table enjoyed their food their food as well.
The wok-prepared dishes are delicious and I’ve never gotten sick (drunken noodles, basil fried rice). A lot of their menu that is marked GF is made in a shared fryer (cross contaminated). Our waiter flagged that for us immediately, so the staff and kitchen understand cross contamination, but always annoying.
The staff informed me that all items listed as "GF" (which they call gluten friendly) are cross contaminated (same fryer, same oil). I left without eating. Recommend folks stay away.
The drunken noodles were AMAZING! I haven’t had wide noodles in a long time, and the vegetables tasted so fresh.
The staff was knowledgeable about gluten and cross contamination but all of the “gluten friendly” fried items were in a shared fryer. The rice noodle were prepared in a wok and so far (next morning) I haven’t had any symptoms of cross contamination. The food was amazing but definitely a bit disappointed by the shared fryer with a gluten friendly label. If you have celiac definitely be careful and double check with staff.
I don't know what happened the night I was there, but it was a mess. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and made me feel pretty comfortable when ordering. My first dish came out with the largest sticks of bread in them I'd ever seen. Then to apologize the chef sent out some sort of bun, also not gluten free. Maybe it was a fluke, but won't ever be going back.
The staff was super knowledgeable and able to answer all questions I had. They only use gluten free soy sauce so there were a lot of safe options!
I’ve ordered takeout and delivery from Doi Moi and their food is awesome! Favorite Thai place that accommodates gluten free in DC.
I highly recommend the Drunken Noodles (thick rice doodles with verges) and Crispy Brussels Sprouts. The pho is good too. Definitely will be ordering these three items again.
We also tried the bo lu lac (Shaken Beef) that was good but wouldn’t order it again.
Definitely worth checking it out if you’re looking for some solid Thai food.
Delicious food! The staff were really helpful, and they knew which things were gluten free well (this was also marked on the menu). They have no gluten in their fryer, so we got to have a fried Pork and lemongrass thingy, which was really good. They also had great sticky rice and spicy peanuts.
