My family loves Firebirds. We have eaten there regularly. Decent amount of gluten free options. Tonight was a bad experience, and one I thought I’d share as a warning to others with celiac. Ordered the superfood salad. It comes with “ancient grains” which I asked them to leave off. Waiter asked if I had a gluten allergy, I said yes, and he said he would note it on the ticket. I also asked him to check with the chef to make sure everything else (dressing) is GF since it isn’t marked as one of their GF offerings. He came back and said chef said it’s GF without the grains. Perfect. Food came out, started eating a couple bites and discovered all the grains under the top layer of spinach…it was all tossed in dressing so obviously cross contact and possibly grains eaten unnoticed. Sent it back, manager came out and said she would have another salad out in a couple minutes. 15 minutes later I still don’t have a meal and my family was done eating, so I had to request it to go. Frustrating and completely avoidable if they were careful and paid attention to the allergy notation. They obviously didn’t. So just a word of caution about ordering something modified.
Great atmosphere, service and food. The manager came to the table to discuss my dietary needs and hand delivered my food.
Wonderful experience! Great variety of gf items, clearly marked on the menu. I always order the salmon because no changes have to be made to be gf. So it's not just a plain piece of fish! They have many sides choices that are gf as well. Our server, Ethan, was very attentive. The restaurant was very clean! Just overall a great place to eat!
They do have a gluten free menu, but they do not have a gluten free burger bun which is a deal breaker for me cause I can’t stand lettuce wrap burgers, and they don’t have a dedicated fryer for the fries. Still go there on occasions but not like we use to before I got diagnosed with celiacs
I had the best experience, so safe! They have an extensive allergen chart online, as well the menu is clearly marked GF. Their own website says to please ask to speak to a manager about allergies, which I did. His name is Jerry and he kept an eye on my ticket himself, and knew everything about the menu. I had a mixed green salad with cilantro vinaigrette, salted baked potato (so good!), and a NY strip steak (one of the best I’ve ever had). I’m also lactose intolerant, so the typical steak was not safe for me because of the marinade/shared wood grill, so Jerry had them sear my steak separately, simply seasoned, and finished in the convection oven. I was worried it wouldn’t be great, but I was so wrong! I will definitely be back. Sometimes the servers aren’t super knowledgeable, so always ask for the manager and you’ll be fine. Hi
My wife & I go here almost every week. I have Celiac & have NEVER gotten sick here! I like the BLT Salad with grilled chicken. Just make sure you let your server know you need to be GF. They once made me a GF dessert that wasn’t on the menu (fruit & whipped cream!). Best servers are Shannon & Jonathan.
