Yes the cooks washed there hands and changed gloves when ordering GF. Ordered $70-80 family halibut. I was also offered to try the GF clam chowder when I was unsure about it. You have to ask about GF items there isn't a separate gluten free menu but they seem to have knowledge about it and lots of options. It was great halibut, I was even told about GF alcohol options. The only thing that was strange was the tarder sauce had a very strong vinegar taste.

The food was excellent wish I could eat it again. Unfortunately made me gawd awful sick. Spent the regular hour and a half drive home stopping at public restrooms along hwy 30. Took me 3 hours to get home due to being so sick. Just a warning! If you’re gluten intolerant it may be ok but would not recommend for celiacs.

Unique little place. Had the cod fish basket. They have gf batter for the fish and use separate fryers for gluten free stuff. Very good!

Waiters were very knowledgeable about gluten free. They use rice flour in their soups and have their own gf batter and dedicated fryer. Most everything on their menu can be made gluten free. Our waiter said the previous owners were celiac so the restaurant has been working on adding gf things to the menu for the last 7 years. We had the halibut fish and chips and the open face crab sandwich, both gf and both tasted amazing!

They had a dedicated fryer and were amazing about making sure the food worked for us. It tasted great and just needed some salt and pepper.

They have a dedicated fryer and staff is very familiar and knowledgeable about Celiac disease. They also offer gf beer and cider. The fish & chips are fantastic; light, crisp and very tasty fries too! Have eaten here twice with no reaction!

Great gluten free fish and chips. I understand their chowder and buns are available gluten free as well. I had a good, safe meal at a reasonable price, and will return again.

UPDATE: I’m now sick and my food was obviously cross contaminated! One of 2 places in town I can eat knowing I will not get sick. It’s been awhile so I asked to make sure they stills a dedicated fryer. I was informed that the GF fryer is down, BUT they’re frying old fashioned with a pot on the stove top. Providing a safe place for gluten intolerant and celiac people to eat! Also, I forgot to specify GF when I ordered and the waiter remembered and asked “GF”. Yes thank you! Lastly my husband got toast with his order, the waiter asked if he needed GF bread, he doesn’t but how awesome to make sure! Cannot recommend this place enough! Food was great too.

Great experience. Staff was super clear on items made without gluten. Chowder was delicious and so nice to have GF fish n chips for a change. We had the halibut and it was tender and flaky with a light batter. Of course I needed to use lemon instead of malt vinegar so they brought extra to the table.

As a celiac with a soy allergy it is very difficult for me to eat out but Freddys was just what the dr ordered. Had the fisherman’s combo basket they replaced the clam strips (pre breaded) with more jumbo shrimp. Everything was delicious and crispy and I had zero reaction all in all if I could give it a thousand starts I would. Staff immediately told me the very few things that were not able to be made gluten free. They do have a dedicated fryer.

The waitress was super knowledgeable and friendly, they have a dedicated fryer, and it was WONDERFUL. First time I've had restaurant fish and chips in years, and I nearly cried at the first bite, it was so good. And there were at least 5 other things on the menu that would have been safe for me too, which is amazing. Will definitely make an effort to visit again when traveling in the area.

Very hesitant to try somewhere new but after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. So happy I did! Hadn't had fish & chips in so long. They have a dedicated fryer and bread their own fish and make sure to let you know what pre-breaded items they have that aren't gluten free. Waitress was very sweet and helpful. Will definitely go back!

Really good fish and chips. I don’t eat a lot of fish, but tried the fried halibut and it was delicious. Have to request the GF fried fish, as they have non GF fish as well.

Excellent food. Lots of Gluten free options. Dedicated fryer, bread options as well. Best clam chowder I have had in years. Well worth the drive. Come visit soon.
Yes
Awesome fish and chips. Have their own dedicated fry and roll the halibut in rice flour. Although we were just passing through, we would definitely eat here again.

This restaurant is very welcoming and accommodating. Service is wonderful. Food is fantastic. Had the pan seared salmon, baked potato, asparagus, and coleslaw and it was fantastic

I am a super sensitive celiac and have eaten here several times without contamination. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The fish has good flavor but lacks the crispy crust. All in all a decent place to eat in a limited celiac friendly area.
Yes
As far as ican tell it was gluten free . Rolled in rice flour they said. Fish itself was very tasteless and soggy. Virtually no batter and extremely small portion. I was hoping for gluten free actual deep fried fish and chips like i used to get in Portland. This was very disappointing !! Will not go again.
Yes
I had the calamari and it was awesome. great food and clear gluten free menu. I will be back.
Very good and clear gluten free menu
Yes
Fantastic Clam chowder and a very clear Gluten Free menu. They were able to pan fry the calamari and halibut and both were delicious. Our waitress made it easy and the Gluten Free food was outstanding.
Yes
Excellent!
Most of the menu has gluten free options and they have a dedicated fryer.

This is an all time favorite!! The owner's granddaughter is celiac, so they have made it you can have most of their menu items made gluten free. My favorite is the calamari. We have brought many friends here and everyone loves this restaurant.
