So many options! Everything we got was fantastic. Especially loved the cinnamon rolls. Kind of a good thing that I don’t live in Portland. The temptation would be strong!

I really appreciate the attention to the flavor combinations and balance of flavors here. That’s what really sets this place apart. Most GF places are more focused on texture, which is important, but while those places will hit the spot if you’re craving something, they’re not typically impressive in the flavor department. The cupcakes here are the perfect amount of sweet. The cinnamon walnut scone tastes like Christmas. I got a sweet potato goat cheese quiche awhile back, which was not something I would order usually because I didn’t love the idea of those flavors, but it was incredible. A lot of these hipster PDX places will throw together unique flavors in an attempt to be edgy but fail to actually make the thing taste good. This isn’t one of those places. Everything I’ve gotten here has felt like a real indulgence.

The cinnamon rolls lived up to my expectations! Oat milk latte was delicious. The donuts and Blackberry Coffee Cake are also good. But get the cinnamon roll if you get anything!!! They do have mandatory masks for a 2-hour period in the mornings. Disposable masks are provided.

I definitely hyped this up more than it was. Not bad but also not great. Got a blueberry muffin, which surprisingly, was soggy and a GF bagel which was pretty good. The bagel was not made in-house. Limited variety of offerings as well. I was here for some breakfast food, but it seems like they might specialize more so in desert-y things.

This place was also pretty pricey. Muffin + Bagel = $10

Wish there was more selection that was also dairy free since many who can’t tolerate gluten also can’t tolerate dairy, but was thankful for a sale place for celiacs and everything we tried was pretty good.

Gluten-Free Gem is a little bit of a hit or miss. Definitely safe — they’re dedicated gluten-free! — but some of the products make you think gf baked goods aren’t as delicious as they can be. Their brownies, for example, are so crumbly. Brownies are one of the easiest things to make gluten-free, because their texture is mostly derived from oil or butter. (If you use Cup4Cup with your fav brownie recipe, you’re GOLDEN.)

We’ve gotten GFG a few times now, and I think your best bet are their swiss rolls (the strawberry-rhubarb one is awesome) and cookies. But still, other bake shops (and your own kitchen!) can make better goods with some of the other products.

We went to 4 different dedicated gluten free bakeries in the Portland area. The gem bakery makes the best gluten free cookies of ALL of them...hands down!! We drove back to Gem to buy more to fly home with us. The black bean quiche and cinnamon rolls were also the best of the best in the area. Cupcakes and muffins were average. The savory scone was also very tasty. It is worth a visit to this "Gem" for sure.

We pre-ordered multiple items for our holiday trip to San Jose, CA. Everything was amazing… the donuts for the drive down, the take and bake rolls, the pumpkin pie and especially the scone we baked up the next morning. We can’t wait to try the take snd bake cookies! I first experienced Gluten Free Gem Bakery when I was in Vancouver for a conference pre-pandemic, and they were on the top of my list to visit again when we spent a long weekend in Portland. We were not at all disappointed! This bakery offers a good variety of tasty baked goods. The cinnamon rolls were on par with 5B's Bakery, and everything else we tried (we just *had* to sample a variety of items!) was yummy.

Huge thank you to the bakery for continuing to protect their customers and staff by requiring masks indoors. Not many restaurants are still doing that, and it's one of the reasons we came back here for a second visit. Wildfire smoke was really bad so we didn't use the outdoor seating, but the restaurant did have some nice tables and chairs set up just outside for those who want to eat their food at the restaurant.

This place is amazingly good. I got a chocolate cupcake and I’m not even that big of a fan of chocolate cake, but it was amazing- not dry or crumbly, delicious frosting. The muffin I had was moist and delicious.
