They have very few options for gluten free, even less for gluten and dairy free. Always loud and crowded as well every time I’ve been.
According to my server, the only thing on the menu I could have were vegetable fajitas and vegetable quesadillas, both with corn tortillas. The corn chips are fried in contaminated oil, so I had to sit and watch everyone chow down while I was starving. There are gluten contaminants in the marinade for the beef and chicken, as well. If you have a hankering for Mexican and those options sound too limiting, I'd try somewhere else.
Disappointing Experience for Celiac Diners
Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing in this location as well as the Fairfax location. As someone with celiac disease, I rely heavily on restaurants to be careful about cross-contamination and knowledgeable about gluten-free options. Sadly, this was not the case here.
From the beginning, it was clear that the staff lacked a solid understanding of what is truly safe for someone with celiac. When I asked about gluten-free items, they provided vague answers and seemed unsure about whether certain dishes were prepared safely. Even worse, some items they confirmed being gluten-free were prepared in shared areas or with ingredients that carried a high risk of contamination.
For those of us with serious dietary needs, carelessness in this area can have real health consequences. I hope the team takes steps to improve their knowledge and cross-contamination protocols in the future. Until then, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who requires truly celiac-friendly food. The food tastes great, but not worth the risk!
Their marinade includes soy sauce and they marinate all meat and veggies. I asked for non-marinated meat and veggies but they brought my corn tortillas in the same container as my friend’s flour tortillas (I didn’t eat the tortillas.) I did not get sick but also didn’t taste that great. Do not recommend.
Their menu is extremely misleading. The note at the bottom says that items marked GF can be made with corn tortillas and substituted with white rice and black beans. In actuality, there are maybe 5 GF marked items on the menu.
The chips are made in a shared fryer and not safe. The waiter had no clue what I was asking and thankfully the manager happened to be walking by so I could ask. When I ordered one of the GF items on the menu, I asked for it to be marked for celiac and got a blank stare until I finally said gluten allergy. When the manager came by again, I asked for the same and he said he’d take care of it.
I ended up not having any issues, but it was a lot of extra effort. The chicken was dry and bland. The margarita was delicious though.
