Great waitress with wide knowledge of GF requirements. The GF spoon bread and fried oysters were terrific. I was unimpressed with the scalibut, but maybe my expectations were too high because this excellent restaurant is known for this dish. This is a classy restaurant, without being stuffy.
Fantastic experience! The waiter was well informed about celiacs and the Cheff was willing to make almost everything on the menu gluten free. They have dedicated fryers and a GF batter that was fantastic! Their GF rolls didn’t crumble and tasted great, and their desserts were amazing! Best meal I had in New Orleans! Get reservations because the place is always busy!
Jason was the best waiter. He walked me through the menu and asked me questions about what cross contamination I can tolerate and when I told him I can’t have anything out of a shared fryer, he immediately told me which things to avoid and reassured me that he would check with the chef before sending everything out to me. So grateful and I even got to have GF cornbread 🤤
Food was amazing. Our server, Ashley, was very knowledgeable and informative regarding gluten free options. She told me the chef was extremely careful regarding gluten allergies. They have separate fryer, grill, and preparation area for gluten free meals. I can’t recommend this place enough. I have eaten here several times and never once felt even a hint of gluten in my system.
Oh my gosh! I was so impressed with the taste and quality of food. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about their gluten free options. I was surprised when they brought out a GF “secret weapon” while the rest of the table had the fresh biscuits. It was too good to take a picture of the full treat.
The food tasted amazing they have a special cornbased bread (more like cake with it's texture) that i would have welcomed more of. Waitress explained that like 90% of the menu is gluten free since they don't have gf pasta, which still left a good amount of choice. I got the scalibut- halibut with (blanking on the name, the circle shrimp like things) which tasted great, and a chocolate cake for dessert. Felt totally safe. If it wasn't so understandably expensive I would go back again. It was our special treat on our trip and totally worth making the reservation about a month in advance.
As someone with celiac, this restaurant was a delight! There is no GF menu, but the staff and kitchen were well prepared for helping me! The cornbread is to die for. Wow. They modified a red snapper dish with all gluten free sides. Even the chocolate mousse bombe was naturally gluten free, which I shared with my spouse. Highly recommend. It is very expensive, so be prepared. But for a special night out, this was one of the finest dining experiences I have ever had.
Went here for a business meal. They were incredibly accommodating and even started a secondary fryer that had no gluten to make me the crispy pork belly starter. I got the chicken with greens, mashed sweet potatoes, and dirty rice with crème brûlée for dessert. Such a phenomenal meal.
We put gluten free (celiac) as a note on the reservation and the waiter made a note of that right away. She said nearly anything on the menu could be accommodated and they had a gf frier. They made GF cornbread which was perfection, and everything I had was delicious. Spendy, but we had a lovely time and I felt very taken care of.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here last night. Our server was very knowledgeable about gluten free and cross contact (and even found a GF vodka substitute for their Fins 75 drink). When our food was brought out, the servers knew and announced that it was a GF dish. Our meal was incredibly delicious. They have a separate fryer and can make just about any of their dishes GF. I have Celiac Disease and am very sensitive to gluten and did not get sick here. I was very excited to see so many GF dessert options! We put that it was an anniversary celebration in our reservation & they had a personalized anniversary copy of our menu waiting for us on the table, it was a very sweet touch, and at the end of our meal they surprised us with a delicious GF anniversary dessert with a candle. Overall, we had an amazing dining experience. Highly recommend checking out this restaurant!
Always fantastic, if you can get a table. Waitstaff is well versed with what is and isn't GF. They have a great gluten free cornbread instead of biscuits. Waitstaff verbally gives and confirms your order with kitchen staff. Most menu items are or can be GF, and they have a dedicated GF fryer.
Oh my goodness, seriously the best experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. In my reservation I put that I was gluten free and that we were celebrating our birthdays. The staff was so friendly and were all very knowledgeable about gluten free options. Honestly nearly the entire menu was gluten free or could be modified GF. Ashley, our server, was amazing. I had the blue fish tuna that was blackened, it was so delicious!
Food was good. Our waiter was a bit confusing when going over the menu on what was gluten free. He would say that one menu item was then say no sorry it’s not. Also mentioning that one of the appetizer that contained Abita beer was gluten free. In which case is absolutely false the beer contains wheat. I don’t think I would go back due to the uncertainty.
Great service, tons of options! If you tell them in your reservation or right as you’re seated that you have celiac they will bring you a personal GF cornbread so you can eat bread with your group! The waitstaff are so professional and they talked me through all of the options on the menu. I had the “scalibut”and was able to share some of the appetizers too!
It was a fine gluten free experience but I thought it was a bit over priced and I had better gluten free food at other restaurants in the city. It was also interesting because you get the normal menu and when you see something you want they will tell you if it’s gluten free. I would much rather have a gluten free menu or a waiter tell me what is safe. It was good but I probably won’t go back.
Wonderful food! My boyfriend and I were on vacation and made a reservation for dinner. They have separate friers and are very knowledgeable about cross contamination. At the beginning of the dinner, everyone got a biscuit and they brought me delicious GF cornbread and I didn’t feel left out for once. I was so happy! Great experience!
Had a fantastic experience at GW Fins! I did not go there with the expectation that they would be so gluten-free-friendly. It was a pleasant surprise. Our server was great in letting me know all my options, which were many. I got the poached pear salad to start then red fish with sweet potato hash and it was absolutely delicious. They even served me GF cornbread at the start instead of a biscuit, which my husband ate. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!
Waitress extremely knowledgable of celiac, explained our options and started out the evening with a nice corn bread muffin. Wonderful halibut and scallops
The staff was excellent and very attentive to my gluten and soy allergy. They made sure everything I ordered was safe for me to eat. They also provided a gluten and soy free corn bread prior to dinner. Didn’t need a separate menu, the waiter told me right up front what I could eat, or what meals could be modified. The food was absolutely amazing.
This place was AMAZING!!!! Staff was knowledgeable about gluten free/celiac. They asked about allergies right when we sat down. Their website notes they have a separate fryer! I had the $50 feast and our waiter walked me through what I could have in it! They have a gluten free corn muffin with a sauce on the top that is to die for! 10/10 did not make me feel sad for having celiac at all!!! I’m writing this the day after and 0 reaction! I would recommend for anyone, especially celiacs!
The staff was super attentive and knowledgeable about GF concerns including special alternative options such as a GF corn muffin in lieu of biscuits . The food was the best of any meal we had in New Orleans. The scallops were to die for. Overall a perfectly safe dining experience makes this a "must eat there"!!
Waitress was very knowledgeable about what I could have and how dishes were made. There are only a few things on their menu that cannot be made gluten free. Everything is cooked to order so they take care preventing cross contamination. They give you the option of a delicious corn spoon bread topped with butter and chives in place of the normal complementary biscuit. Everyone at my table agreed that the spoon bread was far better than the biscuit. Fun to have the more desirable plate for once. Food was excellent and there are plenty of GF deserts available too. Pricey but you definitely get your moneys worth and they don’t skimp you on portion size. Will definitely return.
Delicious, great service, super accommodating - all around wonderful evening. The warm corn cake with melted lobster butter they brought me since I couldn’t have the biscuits was next level yummy! Can’t wait to go back again.
The most amazing meal I’ve ever had. Went here for my birthday and everyone was so knowledgeable. We got shared appetizers for the table, and the ones that needed to be modified to be gf came out with a separate piece for me with a colored toothpick in it. The gf spoonbread to start was unreal. The entire meal was so delicious, the ambience was fantastic, our waiters were knowledgeable and funny and asked every single person from the get go if they had any allergies. Didn’t make me feel like a burden at all!! This was definitely on the pricier side, but so so worth it. Delicious and safe food and desserts. Can’t ask for anything better for my birthday meal!
5 stars all around. There wasn’t a separate gluten free menu but the server was very knowledge and even brought me a spoon bread since I couldn’t have the biscuits. Food was delicious, service was outstanding. Definitely would come back again.
