A lot of the menu can be made gluten free with the substitution of a gluten free bun (which wasn’t that good but wasn’t a bug deal to me). They assured me that they take allergies seriously, prep the food away from gluten, and change gloves etc. The fries are all gluten free and prepped in a separate fryer. They have a binder that they can consult to check any menu items for any major allergies. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating.
We stopped here for a weekday lunch - the cashier took my order and then copied the information onto a RED ticket to be provided to the kitchen… what an amazing safety measure! Great burger, great fries. The GF bun was really nice, not the crappy rice ones that other restaurants use but a brown seeded roll (which was visibly different from my kid’s regular bun).
I called the restaurant because I saw that they offer gluten free burgers but I wanted to make sure they had best practices in place for celiac’s. The lady on the phone said she would specifically handle my Door Dash order when it came in and use all new vegetables, gloves, and surfaces for my burger. Not only did I not get “glutenized” but it was the best burger of my life with grilled poblano, Jack cheese, chipotle aioli, jalepeños, thick crispy bacon, beef patty cooked to utter perfection, and house made mayo. Extremely delighted with their customer service, attention to detail, celiac awareness, and products.
Had the burger of the month (backyard bbq). Called in advance to confirm toppings are GF, they let me know to specify celiac disease in the online order comments and would prepare everything appropriately. I loved this burger and relaxed knowing it and my fries were all prepared separately. The gluten free buns are hands down the best I’ve ever had, I’ve never eaten an entire GF bun and wished I had more. Fantastic experience!
After reading some bun reviews, I was leary about trying them, but mine was great. Has a bit of a honey overtone, so it might not fit all of the burger options. It worked treated with a cheeseburger. The bacon-tomato jam is not GF!! (Bummer) Regular fries are made in a GF fryer. Parmesan & Truffle oil are also GF. Huzzah! Sweet Potato fries are also not GF. (Again, Bummer.)
The line was out the door but moved relatively quick. I like the layout of this place because while you’re in line you pass the bar and can order a drink while you wait. Everyone was friendly. I had a lettuce wrapped burger and thought it was really good. The truffle fries are questionably gluten free but I had some and didn’t have a problem. The food is overall yummy.
Eaten here so many times without incident. The staff seems to click into gear every time we mention a gluten allergy. They are knowledgeable of their menu and have successfully steered us clear of anything that would make us sick. Their burgers and fries are cooked to perfection on a safe griddle or in a gluten free fryer. They accommodate dairy free customers as well. Whether you get a gluten free bun or a lettuce wrap this is the place for you. I can’t think where else I’d rather have a burger. Seriously though.
This review is really my fault, but is a warning. I’m gluten sensitive but not celiac & I ordered the “Impossible” plant-based burger & GF bun & responded (to her question) that GF was a preference vs allergy to spare them the CC discussion since I’ve eaten there before & love it. Do NOT order this “impossible” plant-based burger, I loved eating it on the yummy GF bun & the sweet potato fries I’ve had before, but this plant-based “burger” gave me the most severe gluten reaction I’ve ever had (extreme indigestion) & turns out to have wheat, yeast extract, etc. I ordered it on a GF bun, but never asked if it was GF, my fault although I wish the order counter person had mentioned the gluten ingredients (ingredients were not on the menu). Great food & service (love the GF buns!) but stay away from the plant-based, yummy Impossible burger!
If you don't like Hopdoddy you're crazy! Their GF bun is delicious, my only complaint is that there aren't more locations because waiting in the lines in 100+ heat is no bueno.
This is our second visit and second location of Hopdoddy's. Very good experience. Red allergy ticket written up and double checked ingredients that they were unsure of. We had shakes at then end of our meal as well and they brought out "red" allergen sheets to confirm which ones could be made gluten free and cleaned machine for us when asked.
Good burger. I’ve had better gluten free buns but I’ve had many worse. Overall a strong recommendation and I felt safe eating here.
The classic cheeseburger was SO GOOD. I had it wrapped in lettuce and the lettuce to burger ratio was just right. The ginger lemonade is delicious and the fries were amazing. The staff was knowledgeable and showed concern for my allergy (celiac) and I had a wonderful experience.
Absolute worst gluten free bun I have ever had and I have had many. It tasted super sweet, fell apart and I couldn't even finish it that's how bad it was. I SERIOUSLY don't get the hype. Far better gf options in atx!
Overpriced burgers and their gluten free buns disintegrate. I had to eat my burger with a fork. Truffle fries were the best part of our meal. I would have gotten a shake but we spent $70 for 5 burgers, 2 orders of fries, 2 drinks and a beer. If you want specialty burgers without the long lines go to All Star Burger. Their GF buns don't fall apart.
I understand that being "gluten sensitive" is all the rage right now. But I am sick and tired of telling servers that I cannot have gluten ( clinically confirmed; I had a chunk of my intestine cut out) and for them to give attitude or not take it seriously. I ate here and ordered the gluten free bun, changed my burger order to one that didn't have any sauces and STILL got extremely sick.
As a restaurant, you might be getting more people than usual that lie about a health ailment they don't have. BUT IT IS YOUR JOB to absolutely MAKE SURE THEY'RE FOOD IS NOT CONTAMINATED.
I will be happy when this craze is over, but please don't put people's health at risk just because you are tired of accommodating for liars.
Fantastic! First time I was able to have a full hamburger with a bun in years and it was incredible. Fries were fantastic too.
GF Fries are the best I've ever had. Still craving them a week later. Had the GF bun twice, and really enjoyed it. They reminded me it's made in kitchen that isn't GF, but I have celiac and am very sensitive and didn't have any reactions. Buns are a little dry (or maybe it was slightly stale) but not enough for me to complain about it. I applaud their effort and overall a great experience!
Great take out experience - the Thunderbird was amazing. I am really sensitive to gluten and dairy and was able to modify things to have a really good meal. The gluten free bun was the best I have ever tried. Gluten free truffle fries were just ok - a bit salty, but still a treat to have gf fries. **update: I did get a delayed dairy reaction but not 100% sure it was from this meal. Use caution if you are really sensitive to dairy too**
Best burger spot I've been to! GF buns available and they prepare safely. The fries are amazing too!
