I did not like their food, but I didn't get sick either. I called and asked about GF options and she said yes, then I told her I wanted street tacos and she said yes they have those and their GF. Got down there and they don't have street tacos. I don't understand why some places can't be honest... the chicken tacos I got were not good...

I cannot tell you how excited I was to find a place that is celiac safe! They were extremely knowledgeable about celiac. They explained all of the ingredients and dedicated cooking areas. They even told us that my non-celiac husband not to share his utensils, salsa cups, or his food with me. So many items were gluten free! The food was so delicious and I can’t wait to go back and try more items!

Las Hadas is AMAZING!!! I have Celiac and a severe gluten allergy so eating out can be scary. This is the most relaxing meal I have had in years in a restaurant. The owner is fantastic and really knows what he is doing to keep his customers safe. I had the carni taco, black beans and an order of chips and salsa. The chips are baked/grilled giving them a different char grilled taste- so good! And the trio of salsas - also sooo good. My hubby had the regular(non celiac) California burrito - he couldn’t finish it. Prices are very reasonable making this a place to definitely go to again and again.

Food and service was exceptional. They were so welcoming and had a Celiac menu (not simply GF but Celiac!). Chips are grilled since the fryelator isn't safe. I had the chicken quesadilla and it was so good!

This place is amazing! It is very celiac safe. Family friendly!! The wait staff knows all there is to know about celiac disease. We have two daughters very sensitive to gluten. This restaurant is family owned and Alan the son of the father who started the business cane to our table. This is typical. The wait staff told us the manager will personally speak with you to understand your preferences. They delivered! Right in the gas lamp district it is so nice to have a great option for celiac families! Thank you!!!!

I ate here while visiting San Diego and had a great experience! Manager came to talk to me and explained they had a separate area for grilling the tortillas and such and they did have a separate GF Menu. I had the “celiac street tacos” and they were delish.

The manager of this place is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and made me feel the most comfortable I have ever felt after being diagnosed celiac. I can’t recommend this place enough, not only is the food amazing but it’s so securely safe. The manager and waitress took time out of their busy night to explain every process they have with celiac customers and it was great. Amazing place

I contacted the restaurant ahead to make sure they could accomodate our celiac teen. Mgr. was very prompt and reassuring. Upon arrival from the hostess stand to waitress and kitchen, everyone was on their game. All the positive reviews on here hold true. The waitress even explained that the rice nonGF eaters order is different than the GF rice and was above and beyond helpful and friendly. Mgr. talked with us and checked on us a few times during the meal. We were well taken care of and daughter had a safe meal with no reactions....except of course happiness she could feel normal in a busy restaurant.

They have a separate gluten free menu, be sure to ask for one. The waitress immediately let the kitchen know that an order would be coming with gluten free needs. She was knowledgeable and helpful to me. Even got me some heated corn tortillas slices as an alternative for the chips. I ate the carnitas platter, it was delicious! No reaction!

As soon as I mentioned celiac the host went over all the gluten free options and the precautions they take with me. He was just as excited about the options as I was. All the meat is cooked on a dedicated grill and they change their gloves. Ate here twice. Tacos were amazing and the quesadillas were really good too. Didn’t get sick.

I have never been treated so well at any restaurant. The manager/owner, Bobby came out and talked about my needs. He understood the need to avoid cross contamination. I ordered from the official GF menu and they even made me some pan toasted corn tortillas as chips for my salsa and guacamole. They were so good my husband kept eating them after he got his chips. The food was excellent. I ordered a drink and, as I sometimes do, started looking up the ingredients after, thinking I would just give it to my husband if I couldn't have it. Well, before I could ask what brands of ingredients they use, Bobby was already at the bar looking it up and checking on it. He brought out the labels to read with me. Excellent food and even more amazing service. We will definitely return next time we are in San Diego. Highly recommend.

100% not Celiac friendly!!! Chose the option which states Celiac tacos but within 20 mins had a reaction for the first time in a year??? DO NOT eat here if you are Celiac, not worth the risk!

Owner Response

Good evening, I want to apologize for your reaction. Something obviously went wrong with your dish, which is not common at las hadas. I’m very sorry you had a reaction, I know you don’t recommend us but I would really like to make up for you getting sick if possible by coming in for another meal. We try to get to know everyone’s level of intolerance before serving by having a manager speak to the table, if we did not do this that is our fault and once again I apologize.

This is hands-down the BEST service I have ever received as a celiac. My husband mentioned that I'm celiac while making a reservation. When we arrived, we were greeted with a celiac menu and the manager immediately came over (without us asking!) to explain their gluten-free protocol in detail and assure me that he'd be in communication with the kitchen. The waitress also assured us of the same thing. Chips are made in a shared fryer so I got grilled corn tortillas with my guac and they brought out separate salsas so my husband could dip his chips without cross-contaminating mine. It was hard choice cause everything on the menu looked delicious, fajitas were out of this world. My husband said his burrito was one of the best he had ever had, he said he felt bad telling me since I couldn't have a bite. 😂 THANK YOU SO MUCH, Las Hadas for outstanding service and going above and beyond! Can't wait to come back after I have this baby so I can try the drink specials!
