This is hands-down the BEST service I have ever received as a celiac. My husband mentioned that I'm celiac while making a reservation. When we arrived, we were greeted with a celiac menu and the manager immediately came over (without us asking!) to explain their gluten-free protocol in detail and assure me that he'd be in communication with the kitchen. The waitress also assured us of the same thing. Chips are made in a shared fryer so I got grilled corn tortillas with my guac and they brought out separate salsas so my husband could dip his chips without cross-contaminating mine. It was hard choice cause everything on the menu looked delicious, fajitas were out of this world. My husband said his burrito was one of the best he had ever had, he said he felt bad telling me since I couldn't have a bite. 😂 THANK YOU SO MUCH, Las Hadas for outstanding service and going above and beyond! Can't wait to come back after I have this baby so I can try the drink specials!
Delcious carne asada fajitas. The staff did well to reassure me. I’m very sensitive to any cross contamination and didn’t get sick! Best yet- the meal was delicious. The chips are fried in a shared fryer, so they grill gluten free chips for you! Great spots for celiacs!
Very knowledgeable about celiac. Brought out grilled tortillas for me to eat with salsa. Fajitas were great. Fryer is contaminated and they were very detailed in explaining what wasn’t safe and why. Separate gluten free menu. Felt safe eating Mexican food which hasn’t happened in a while.
Amazing staff and very celiac safe. I feel so comfortable eating here and it’s been awhile since I could say that! My friends all love it too so it’s a popular choice all around . The celiac street tacos are amazing... also that drink they serve in the frozen pineapple!!!! OMG
Incredibly safe restaurant for celiacs. Requested a gluten-free menu and was immediately asked by the host if I had celiac. The waiter let us know their chips were fried with gluten items and so the chef made special chips from grilled corn tortillas just for our table. The waiter recommended drinks safe for celiac and the food was AMAZING. The chicken quesadilla was delicious. Recommend going during happy hour, great deals. Overall a must-stop for safe and delicious gluten-free food in the Gaslamp District!
The staff was very knowledgeable. The waitress talked to the kitchen staff and manager and the manager came and talked to me. I had the chicken tacos that were very good! I’m a very sensitive celiac and did not get sick! The restaurant is very loud, even though we were seated in the back.
Outstanding experience. GF/celiac-friendly menu and staff, very understanding and accommodating without making us feel like a burden. AND-very tasty food! Definitely a welcoming place for families seeking informal/casual Celiac-friendly option in area.
Staff was very knowledgeable about celiac, and they have a dedicated kitchen space. Food is great and servers were awesome! I ate here twice during my stay because I knew I could trust that I would get a meal that was not cross contaminated! Highly recommend!!!
The staff was pretty knowledgeable and told me they had grilled tortilla chips for me for with the salsa. I didn't even ask for a separate salsa from my husband and daughter and they brought me my own. I had the fish tacos which were pretty good and I had no issues 😁
What a nice time eating this food. We were greeted my the manager and he wanted to make sure we go home feeling really well, and wanted to adjust the menu in any way to attend to our allergies. :) We got shrimp ceviche and jicama since i don’t have corn chips (grains). And we got the fish fajitas and added shrimp for more protein to share. We skipped all the cheese, butter, rice, and tortillas and asked for a lot of steamed broccoli instead. Very tasty food!
Amazing experience from the second we entered to when we left. The staff took great care in ensuring I felt comfortable as someone with celiac and a dairy allergy. The manager even came out to talk to me personally to ensure me that they take food allergies quite seriously. The gluten free menu had tons of yummy options and the food was delicious!! (Got the tacos). Would definitely recommend.
Found this place while on vacation. If you have a need for celiac friendly eateries then you know how difficult eating out can be! From the hostess to the waitress to the manager everyone was friendly and knowledgeable about celiac and the special precaution needed. The food was wonderful and for those of us who were able to order from regular menu the taco Tuesday menu hi the spot. The food was great and service was great as well. Definitely a 5 star experience!
This place was super yum. Staff was excellent. They have a separate Gluten free menu, which was nice. As soon as you say gf, they are very helpful. It is not 100% gluten free though. They don't have separate cooking space, so great if you are not celiac. I had no digestive issues, so that was all that mattered to me.
Excellent! Delicious! They have a separate celiac menu which is really hard to find. The manager, Bobby, made sure we understood the menu and our server, Jamie, double checked the food before they brought it out. I have celiac and also can’t have dairy. No problem here. We had carnitas tacos and fish tacos. Soooo good!!! A must when you visit San Diego!! 😁
Ate here safely during Comic Con three separate times! Because of Comic Con, there was a reduced celiac safe gluten free menu in order to ensure there was no cross contamination even during the shit show that is comic con, but there were still great options and the food was delicious. The wait staff were all great and knowledgeable about the difference between gluten free and celiac. Would eat here all the time if I lived in SD.
We live in San Diego County and were in the downtown area for Comicon. We found Las Hadas Bar and Grill at 558 4th Avenue. We have two members of the family with Celiac and one of those has a lactose intolerance. We were so pleasantly surprised to find that Las Hadas has not just a Gluten Free Menu, but a Celiac Menu! The Manager, Marcelle and the two servers, Air and Dakota, (yes, we ate there two nights because it was safe, and delicious!!!) were really knowledgeable about the menu and about Celiac and made sure we ate safely. We just can't recommend it enough. Las Hadas will absolutely be our go-to restaurant whenever we are in downtown!
Highly recommend! On my reservation on OpenTable, it asked where I heard about the restaurant. I clicked “FindMeGF” and almost immediately got this email! Manager brought me my menu and explained all procedures and precautions. Tacos were super yummy!!
The staff was really friendly and the food was soo good! They have a separate gluten free menu and the manager came over to the table and assured me that the food would be safe. They have options from quesadillas to tacos to fajitas and more!
The manager came out to make sure we knew they took the gluten free needs of their guests seriously and to let him know if we needed anything. They bake corn tortillas instead of chips to make sure there is no mistake. All GF options on the menu are noted and the staff is helpful.
They had a Celiac menu. When I mentioned I had Celiac disease they knew what I was talking about imediately. I had the carnitas and they were fantastic. They also provide grilled chips as their fryer is shared. Great experience, what you hope for when traveling as a Celiac.
This place is incredibly accommodating- they always have a manager come out and go over options for you- have very sensitive celiac and have been completely safe here! Love and appreciate the peace of mind that comes alongside they’re delicious food!
I have Celiac disease and Matthew with Las Hadas took exceptional care of me, in addition to providing our party of seven excellent service. We never had to wait on refills, he was on top of every aspect of our lunch. The food was excellent, everyone in the party enjoyed their meals. If you have Celiac, this restaurant will take care of you! Cheers
Wow! Such nice staff. Manager came over and introduced herself and explained the menu and how they make the food safe for us. Clarified that we were Celiac vs avoiding gluten. My son wanted to try something that wasn’t necessarily on the menu and the waiter was accommodating. The food was DELICIOUS!
Comment from business owner Hello Kristin I want to thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review, however you gave us 1 star :( I was wondering if that was a mistake or if something else happened during your dinner. Please let us know, we want to make sure to follow up with all of our reviewers. Thank you
When I asked the waitress for a gluten free menu, a manager came over and spent several minutes with me to understand my particular allergies/intolerances. The selection was decent, the food was good, the service was excellent, and the skinny margaritas hit the spot.
Best service I’ve ever had for celiac related things. Describe processes before ordering. Chips are baked separately. Had one fish taco and one carne asada taco and they were the best I’ve ever had. White steamed rice was awesome. Had the guac and celiac chips and the guac was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Large portions and yummy food, but what was more impressive was the friendly, knowledgeable staff. When you request a gluten free menu the manager comes to the table and explains how food is prepared in the kitchen. They were happy to accommodate my needs and I felt they took the task seriously.
This place is top notch! The manager came to the table and explained how the food was prepared specifically for people with Celiac Disease vs. a gluten intolerance. Not everyone knows the difference and even though some restaurants have gluten free menus and “try to prevent” cross contamination, it’s still a gamble. But, my daughter was able to order what she wanted off of the Celiac menu and had no fear of getting sick. This is so hard to find anytime we eat out, but we are vacationing in the San Diego area and that makes it even harder! Thanks to Bobby the manager and Alex our server for great service and delicious “safe” food!
The staff was knowledgeable. They did not address menu as ‘gluten free’ but instead mention ‘you need celiac chips’. That gives you a lot of confidence. Especially for this big and busy place they do an awesome job with taking care of the gluten free food along with cross contamination which is great. The chips were not that great though. Regardless, any place that takes care of people with celiac like this gets a 5 star from me.
The manager came out and spoke to me personally and made sure everything was cooked perfectly. They have a designated cooking area, special menu for both celiac and gluten free. Loved the food, loved the staff, love the energy. 100% will be returning!!
Amazing!!!Can't say enough good things about this restaurant the level that they go to to make you feel safe is outstanding!.Dedicated space in kitchen and they even have a celiac menu! They have delicious food and drinks and even made me my own chips on the grill:) Will definitely be back!
Hands down the best GF service I have ever received. In addition to not being able to eat gluten, I have several other food allergies that they were very good at accommodating. The manager Bobby was great and personally made sure everything was safe.
