Their salads are quite good (and actually interesting compared to most sandwich places) and they take special note when I say I have a gluten allergy/celiac. Have eaten here a handful of times, never been sick.
Maybe not celiac friendly, as they told me there could be some cross contamination. But for my wheat allergy, I don't notice this sort of thing. Very tasty GF sandwich and salad. I also sampled a GF chicken tortilla soup, which I hope to try another time. Friendly people too.

Best sandwiches i ever had!! And All option for Gluten Free :)!!!
Superb sandwiches with a gluten free bread option. The many ingredients that are gluten free are marked as such. Mention that you have the allergy and someone will prepare it with new gloves, etc. to avoid cross contamination - never had a problem with that so far. Sometimes the gluten free sandwiches take a little longer - just call ahead and pick it up.

Staff was amazing! Above and beyond! So sweet and attentive. Food is also amazing and clearly marked on main menu. Portions are great! Come and enjoy!

Leaving a review to lower the rating as this site is supposed to be used to help people find safe restaurants...and this is 100% not one of them. The Mendocino chain is NOT CELIAC SAFE, and is GF only by Los Angeles fad-diet standards. Certainly doesn't deserve a 4-star rating on FMGF...

I always get their Save Drakes Salad, no tortilla dnd let them know that I have celiac- always had a safe experience.
So I had a sandwich on gluten free bread and the bread was toasted and tough. I tried to cut the bread with a plastic fork and it won’t cut the bread. I went inside and asked if someone could cut the sandwich and the answer was no. Apparently no one could go wash a knife. So I’m appreciative that they were trying to be gluten free, thank goodness I have all my teeth. I have five people standing around me trying to figure out how to cut a piece of bread, really! I just said give me the sandwich and I’ll deal with it. No management response and sandwich ultimately was good. However, WTF, I can’t cut your bread or re-do your sandwich.
The staff was accommodating with answering questions about ingredients for multiple food allergies, and they said they can mark gluten-free orders as an allergy and use separate gloves, knives, etc. I got the impossible burger on gluten-free bread (no gf bun). The bread was your standard gf packaged bread, but the burger was good and I didn’t have a reaction.
I asked about the flourless chocolate cookie, and the person working at the counter said that while it doesn’t have gluten ingredients, it’s processed with the other ones and therefore not safe. Overall, I appreciated how knowledgeable and honest they were.
