We sat at the bar because it was so busy. The bartender was very knowledgeable about GF needs and anticipated a lot of my questions once she knew I have a gluten allergy. Their fryers are all dedicated GF and only a few items on their menu cannot be done GF (the pretzel and tacos, I was told). Overall a good meal and I was able to have some of the fried apps that I don’t often get to eat, with no issues after.

We ate at Red Heat Tavern for the first time tonight. My son has Celiac Disease, and tree nut and sesame allergies. They were great! My son was thrilled to have a burger and fries. We were very curious about their GF rolls, bc my son LOVeD them! The chef, Preston, came out and spoke to us. He was so knowledgeable and kind! We will def be back!

This place is amazing! All guest get gluten free food in general. Anything that has batter on it such as fried chicken, comes gluten free for everyone. They do not even offer regular breading for chicken or fried foods. Only gluten free! All items that go in the fryers are gluten free. They serve items that have an “allergy” warning on it on a red plate. The staff are very knowledgeable. This place offers the most variety for gluten free in restaurants ive ever seen. Not to mention the food was delicious. I would recommend this to people who are gluten free and who arent!

When Red Heat opened it changed the game for dining out. Allergies were taken /very/ seriously. That doesn't seem to be the case any longer.
Part of the way through my burger I started to feel unwell. Everything had come out on a red plate like normal, and was confirmed to be gluten free. It didn't come out with a manager, so maybe that was a red flag. After I started feeling gross someone informed me they saw the food runner touching some normal food and then handling mine. Wish they had told me BEFORE I ate.
Very sick afterwards, and so sad.
I feel like I can't trust this establishment anymore.

Before a couple weeks ago I would have given 5 stars. Last time I went I got a wrap. It did not look how it previously looked, so we asked if they were sure it’s gf. Got home and I knew it wasn’t. I wouldn’t be as upset if we hadn’t checked and they still said it was. Often times the person we ask acts as if it’s an inconvenience to verify.

My daughters both have Celiac Disease and we love Red Heat! It’s a from scratch kitchen so they can make just about everything gluten free. The fried chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans is our favorite. The farm house burger is awesome also!

One of the most impressive gluten free menus I’ve found!! We can have everything fried since they have a separate fryer. I haven’t had fried chicken tenders in so long. It was good! My server was so knowledgeable. My food came out cold and the place is very understaffed. But even with that I will 100% be back

Red Heat and Burtons Grill do a wonderful job for modeling proper protocols for allergens and celiac. Protocols in place, dedicated kitchen space and fryers, different colored plates. Food is tasty and staff is helpful!

While much of the menu is alreay or able to make gluten free, the place is not very careful with allergens. My family has tried the restaurant a few times and every time allergens were in what we ordered. Last time I asked if the cheesecake could be made without the berries on it. The manager said yes,and l ordered the cheesecake. It came loaded with strawberries. I mentioned it and was told by the manager that I could just pick them off. After that I will never return because I can’t trust them. “Picking off” an allergen in a dish is not an acceptable reason. I specified multiple times every visit that I not only had celiac disease but also other anaphylactic food allergies including,m strawberries. I do understand no matter where I eat there is a risk of cross contamination, but when I’m told to pick off an anaphylactic allergen, I can’t trust any of my food being safe to consume.

Excellent food and most servers are super understanding and accommodating. Bit pricier than other local places, but worth it. They are owned by Burton’s Grill (local to MA, also excellent). Owner is, I believe, also Celiac.

Great food and service and good drinks. I have multiple food allergies (gluten, soy, nightshades) and this is one of the few place I can eat - and eat well- without fear or restrictions. Do you have any idea how long it had been since I had fried chicken and corn bread!!! Also their Mai Tais are quite tasty.

I have gotten takeout here numerous times and have never had a bad experience. Everything I have had has been delicious and has been clearly labeled GF. Most of the menu can be made GF. I have never gotten sick eating here. The GF southern fried chicken is my favorite, I have also had (and loved) the pulled pork sandwich, fish tacos, nachos and tempura cauliflower/broccoli. 100% recommend for anyone who is GF

Awesome gluten free choices. They have gluten free chicken tenders - all in dedicated fryers. A lot of options that celiacs cannot get most places. I have gone multiple times and not been sick.

Everything on the menu can be made gluten free. They have separate fryers. The wait staff was very accommodating. The only downside was how small the parking lot was!
Yes
Red Heat was delicious.. Everything on the menu can be made or is already Gluten Free... Everyone was very friendly and nice... Did not feel out of place when ordering.... We shared the Tater Tots so yummy.... and I had the Hot Chix we sweet potato fries and regular fries.... I will go back 100%Safe

If you like bar food just put the phone/tablet/laptop down and go now! A celiac’s paradise!!! Like 95% of the menu can be GF (and they keep improving on that). There isn’t a separate Gf menu bc of that. I think the only things I’ve been told can’t be made Gf is the pretzel appetizer, the pita which comes with the artichoke dip (they’ll give you tortilla chips instead), and the wrap sandwich (they’ll do it on a bun for you though). They do have GF Fried pickles, wings (including boneless!), ribs, artichoke dip, nachos (my fav! I get it with chicken and split it as a meal it’s so good and so huge!!), sandwiches and burgers galore, onion straws, bacon tater tots, fries (regular, sweet potato, garlic Parmesan), roasted Brussels sprouts or cauliflower, all kinds of smoked meat (which they do in house), amazing Mac and cheese, meatloaf, fried chicken, and it just goes on and on! Oh not to mention ALL the desserts are Gf - yeah! Including the upside down cheesecake with crumbled GF Grahams on top! They recently opened more locations and more are to come soon. Oh! Also the allergen plates are not only delivered by the manager but they are always red! Great way to identify a plate that needs extra caution through the whole process! Love it!! BTw this is a sister restaurant to Burton’s which is co-owned (or they are in the board) by a fellow celiac! Just go!! It’s awesome!!

Everything on the menu can be made GF. I have celiac and am very sensitive to cross contamination - I’ve gone here a few times and each time I have not got sick and the food is amazing. So happy with this restaurant!!

The tater tots are amazing! They have cheese and bacon in them!

Food was safe, but disappointing! Fries were cold, you could tell they had been sitting for some time! Food quality was mediocre and portion size was small. I got pulled pork with fries which comes with fried pickles. I had more fried pickles than anything else. I’ve always wanted to eat here as we love Burton’s, but we won’t go back.
We dine here very often with my son who has celiac and have never had a single problem. Almost the whole menu can be made gluten free and they have dedicated prep areas and fryers. The staff and management are well informed and the food is great.
Yes
I have eaten at both locations for many years, never contaminated, everything is amazing !! So thankful one of my favorite and safest places to eat =)
Angel is a great waiter, very attentive and took the time to share specials & what the different items in the menu are. My daughter & I have Celiac Disease & we had onion string, the Mediterranean Rice Bowl & the stuffed peppers. Everything was delicious! Thru use a corn starch based flour in their fryers, no gluten products!
Yes
Easily my favorite restaurant for gf. The WHOLE menu can be made gf except the soft pretzels- even the deserts. It's amazing. I've eaten here many times and never have gotten sick. My favorite things are their breaded wings, nachos, burgers, steak tips, and homemade croutons for the salad. The chocolate cake is also delicious. Love it here so much.
Yes
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable but I wouldn't go back. I have gotten sick twice now from their food. I have a gluten and dairy allergy but was told they could handle it. However, both times the chef talked me into eating French fries from their dedicated fryer, which I'm sure is the reason why I got sick from their food. I'm not convinced they don't put milk in batter for fries. Ok for GF for they do have a large selection and a "dedicated" fryer, but I would not trust them with celiac or dairy allergies.
No
Almost everything is gluten free, and it’s so delicious. Definitely recommend, but the traffic in this area is absolutely horrible.
Yes
Red Heat is one of the few places I go where I can order almost anything on the menu and not have to worry about getting sick. Everything is delicious at Red Heat!
Yes
The staff is not allergy knowledgeable. I have a soy allergy, manager said it is soy bean, not soy. ??? Most soy is cross contaminated with wheat because this is how farmers grow... If you have a soy allergy don’t even bother there’s pretty much nothing on the menu you can have
Everything is fried in soybean oil
I got rice with bland chicken breast when ordering Mediterranean bowl. If this were a scratch kitchen..the other items as listed could have been put in ‘un-soyed’.
No
I love this place! The owner has celiac disease and almost anything on the menu can be made gf. Try the fried pickles and the veggie mac and cheese topped with corn bread. So good! I've never gotten sick here and I'm highly sensitive. Tell them you are celiac and they will take it very seriously.

This place is great for you are celiac for so is the owner. Separate fryer for fries yummy. I eat here often and so can’t you

Great place! Nice atmosphere and nearly 100% GF. Almost everything can be made GF. Great food and wonderful service. Owner is celiac so you trust. Can't wait to return!

Too many dogs for me - hair in the air. On my table. Rude- I was actually yelled at by the manager when I had ordered apple cider and was brought a beer I asked the waitress to please take it back- very nicely The manager came over and yelled at me because he said they were busy and she was new.

AMAZING food and great gluten free knowledge. As soon as you sit down they ask if anyone in your party has food allergies and if so, they will serve your food on a red plate. They have dedicated gluten free fryers and can basically make everything gluten free (except the pretzel). Must have the bang bang broccoli and the sweet potato fries!

I go here regularly with no issue. All GF meals are marked by being on a red plate as claimed in the restaurant self-written description above (not a labeled toothpick but an obvious indicator to all staff). I always ask just in case and am always told red plate=gf and the staff is always well trained on handling gf/celiac customers. They have separate fryers for allergens including a gluten free fryer. They say all menu items can be made gluten free and I have never encountered anything they wouldn't do gf. This is my go-to 'I worked too long today and all I want is chicken tenders and french fries now' place.
I am also allergic to dairy so one time I asked for a dairy free sauce chef's choice to go with some fried pickles instead of the usual ranch and they absolutely delivered.
Also you can clearly mark online orders for gluten allergy with a whole section of the online menu being set up as 'gluten free menu item name' and you can further mark all your allergens from the selection box and write a note for each item. The takeout boxes will have allergy stickers on the individual items.
