2023 update: they continue to do a great job with appetizers (kiddo loves the potato soup); toasted bread and entrees. They have added dessert options this year. The baked items use oat flour, which is clearly marked. We asked if it is GF certified oats and were told yes. There is ice cream available if GF oats are not tolerated.
I wanted to update my review. I spoke with the kitchen manager yesterday and they have strict protocols in place. They use a shared fryer and state that fried food is not safe for celiacs. We got carry out and they put my celiac family member’s order in a separate bag. I did not ask for that and appreciate the gesture.
Many menu items are available gluten free, including all the steaks and at least some bowls. They take great care to provide safe, typical Rocky Mountain food for celiacs.
Staff very knowledgeable about cc. They keep a dedicated toaster to warm GF bread and serve it with separate butter. Cajun shrimp app is GF. GF items on the kids menu. Several items on the regular menu, including chocolate mousse. We ate here twice during our vacation. Our child with celiac had no reaction other than being happy to have a full, multicourse meal out.
Had an excellent southwest chicken bowl. Gf toast with cinnamon sugar butter. Very accommodating. Had the peach Wild cider and it was incredible! All gf and so smooth! Had to find a store that sold it so we could buy some to bring home! Tried my husband’s Rocky Mountain Trout and it was really good as well!
All of the gluten free items were clearly marked. There were many different options and not just pasta. I had an amazing greens and grain bowl with salmon. There were at least two or three other dishes I wanted to try. Waitress was knowledgeable and offered gf bread (I declined). She even mentioned a few gf desserts they have. My bowl was so delicious as was my fiancé’s salmon entree that I tried. I didn’t have any reaction. I would definitely eat here again.
Excellent! Celiac safe! Even a flour free Brownie Sunday for dessert, which I was sad to pass up due to fullness. Had salmon and it was perfection! Many options, the mark your ticket as celiac, and bring your food out seperately! Amazing Covid precautions seen, also - they are wiping the tables and chairs with a two person team, and great spacing inside. I am so, so happy. 💜
Had the almond crusted salmon, mashed potatoes, side salad, and ice cream. Was sick an hour later. If I were to go back, I would stick with salad only. Salmon was overcooked.
The food here was really good overall —salmon was amazing, elk sausage and gf toast were good. The waitress had celiac and double-checked the gf status of a dish. (It was the corn dip appetizer that appears on the gf menu: turns out the chips are cooked in a common fryer. I so appreciated that she checked, but I’m not sure another wait person would know to check.) The only issue was my salad had tiny crouton crumbs. The waitress was apologetic, and we switched to green beans. I don’t know if croutons were taken off or the salad prep are is such that crumbs could get on the lettuce. I would have given this charming place full of character five stars.
My husband I ate here twice on our honeymoon in Estes Park. They were amazing. He has celiac and an allergy to eggs and they were so attentive and careful about both allergies.
When we arrived we told the host about his allergy and they gave us the gluten free menu. Unfortunately that is for people who are casually gluten free not people with celiac. Ashley, our waitress, knew that though and quickly explained what we could actually have!
They do not have a separate fryer so we couldn't have anything that was fried. They did have separate pots for the gluten free pasta and knew what substitutions we could have.
Ashley was so nice. We actually got her as our waitress both times and were so relieved! She was amazing, so friendly and accommodating. We wish we lived closer so we could go back regularly.
Most importantly, my husband never got sick! Such a rare occurrence when we eat out, especially at a restaurant with both gf and gluten foods!
LOVED this place. My server made me feel comfortable but I still tested the food I ordered with the new Nima I just got- everything passed 😊. I had the filet with mashed potatoes, polenta, and chocolate mousse for dessert. Everything was very good and the atmosphere of the restaurant was awesome. A mountain tavern with live music.
Oh my goodness, a place so nice, we ate here twice. The beef stroganoff is superb. They even have GF desert—a rich and toothsome chocolate mousse. We ate here on a Monday, when the restaurant was not tremendously busy, and on a Thursday, when many of the locals had stopped in for a beer. Live music on the weekends, but not overpoweringly loud. We could still carry on our conversation. Cozy. Well-informed wait staff. Our best dining experiences of the week.
Don't miss this place! Lots of gf options. Thoroughly enjoyed Cajun shrimp and polenta for appetizer. The Greek salad was delish. Ordered the filet with honey and mushrooms and was delighted to have herb gf bread. And to top it off for dessert they had gf chocolate torte cake with raspberry sauce and fresh mint!! What a treat! Quaint atmosphere with live music topped off the perfect gf meal! Love this place. New favorite in Estes!!
I was handed a GF menu. Much appreciated. Then the chef came out to discuss my order. He made a special appetizer to ensure a GF option. I would highly recommend.
Smoked salmon hash with elk sausage is amazing, I highly recommend it for Sunday brunch
Very good good and gluten free menu! Perfectly prepared steak. Soft delicious glut free bread. Gluten free beers! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
By far the best restaurant we visited in Estes Park! We ended up eating here several times this week. GF menu! I highly recommend the Devils on Horseback, Flatiron Steak with Gorgonzola Cream Sauce, Penne Paste (gf option was actually linguine) add Chicken Breast and ask for gf bread, house salad with homemade ranch, and the longevity tea was a great remedy for altitude sickness!💖💖💖 thur night is open mic bluegrass and entertainers on weekend nights. Great atmosphere and fabulous service!! 💖💖
Many items are GF, including all Entrees. Food was meh - Chicken Marsala was fairly bland - all the sweet potatoes were mushy from sitting in the sauce. My wife had Salmon, fairly dry but were some great bites. Entrees are $20 plus.
