Celiac friendly. Many great GF choices, with gluten free soy sauce. Amazing customer service!

good gf food but very limited options and staff not knowledgeable
A very nice place with great food, and people knowledgeable in gluten. Our server was gluten-free herself, and recommended the gluten-free menu, gluten-free soy sauce, and even changes to items on the regular menu so that my wife (who suffers from celiac's disease) could have her favorite sushi dish. They even decorated our table and gave us a card and a special desert because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The grounds at the Marriott are beautiful and everyone at Roy's seemed friendly and professional. We'll definitely be going back!

They have the best flour less chocolate lava cake ever!!!!

This was an experience I wanted to love but the knowledge of the waitstaff was really not great. We ordered items marked GF on the menu and our waitress initially seemed uncomfortable (or uncertain about?) confirming about the precautions for GF prep in the kitchen. The dinner was AMAZING. So good. Our waitress then came back and unprompted said “we have 2 gluten free desserts—chocolate cake and pineapple upside down cake.” Going on her word we ordered both. However I was really uncertain about the pineapple cake and asked her to check what kind of flour was used as I was surprised it was gluten free. She came back out and said “cornstarch.” That would make a gravy and not a cake, so I started googling to see if I could find more on it. The restaurant’s Facebook page actually listed the recipe, first ingredient was cake flour. I had decided at that point that I just wouldn’t eat it. A handful of minutes before the dessert was supposed to come out, the waitress returned to our table and said she “triple checked” but was actually mistaken and the cake was not gluten free. I very much appreciated her willingness to share that with us, but it was a crappy way to end the meal.

I don’t know. I went twice and each time I didn’t feel right. Like some gluten issue. My legs get heavy.

I have been going to Roy’s since before I developed my gluten allergy and was nervous that my experience would be tainted but it was not! The server was very knowledgeable and was able to make accomodations to make things gf. They brought tamari (gf soy sauce) for me to have with sushi and the short ribs and the chocolate lava cake were both gluten free and AMAZING.

Although the menu is pretty limited (zero appetizers are okay), my meal was safe and excellent.
They provide edamame to begin as a stand-in for bread that you might expect at some restaurants, which I tested with my Nima and was safe.
For dinner, I ordered the Hiramasa fish, which tested safe with my Nima and was absolutely delicious.
The chocolate souffle for desert is GF and was also excellent.
While it was a bit disappointing that the menu was pretty limited for a Celiac, the meal was one of the best I had in my full week in O’ahu.
