I’ve always had a good experience here. Lots of gf choices on the menu. Gf fries which is always a bonus! Occasionally the server has no knowledge or is too busy so you do have to do your own research and be prepared but, that’s always the case when dining out with celiac. Be your own advocate. Overall this is one of my favorite go to places when in the Fredericksburg area
this one’s 50/50 for me - on one hand, if it’s not busy and you give very specific instructions, they can occasionally make gluten free food! on the other hand, they’ve brought out my food when it’s busy and my GF food has been touching gluten food, thus cross contaminating it, because the servers carry 3-4 plates at once and don’t separate out what’s gluten free. i’ve cried multiple times at this restaurant because of those instances where i’m afraid to speak up and it’s honestly probably best for me not to go back but there are so few places i can eat out at in fredericksburg.
Good food . I had the grilled salmon & asparagus. Salmon was delicious. Asparagus a little overcooked. Nice ambiance. We sat outside on the patio. Inside was a bit loud, but it is a taproom. So, I would expect that. Located in a cute, walkable neighborhood. We stopped while traveling. Otherwise, I would have looked around more & gone back again.
Great choices for gf such as sandwich buns, pasta, flatbreads, dessert!! Food was really good ! No issues with the loaded nachos or salad. I will go back to try more as I know I went safe with the choice I made. I’m gluten intolerant so for celiac it maybe could have cross contamination as this is not a dedicated kitchen! Great service as well and clean restaurant!
It’s fine, there are a bunch of menu options, it just seemed a little sloppy. Waiter was kind and came across as extra confident in their allergy safe options but then also seemed to say different things when asked for clarification. Made a mistake on one of our meals but was very quick to fix it and make it right. If we were driving through town, I’d feel fine about eating there again. Best thing we ordered was a flatbread pizza, small but good.
My son was recently diagnosed with celiac and really wanted a hamburger. He ordered the Hangover Burger with a gluten free bun. We told the server that we really needed to make sure nothing was crossed contaminated and she told them in the kitchen. My son had a delicious burger with no reaction. We will go back again. Service was excellent!
Sever was great and knowledgeable, brought out options for the one appetizer that a non-gluten free member of my family got we that my wife and I could try it. She even found out from the chefs what pasta was used in my wife’s meal when we inquired.
The food was amazing. One of the best gluten free buns I’ve had.
Really enjoyed our meal here. I had crab-stuffed shrimp. It came with cooked spinach and garlic mashed potatoes, I substituted the potatoes with sweet potato fries (confirmed a gluten free dedicated fryer for the fries! Yay) Excellent meal and excellent service.
I have Celiac's and dairy allergy. I had the burger and fries and it was DELICIOUS! I am always hesitant to eat out even when the restaurant says GF options but this restaurant had a designated fryer for gf French fries and grilled the burger and bun separately from other orders. I feel great this morning!
This was one of the most delicious GF meals I’ve ever had at a restaurant! The flavors were fabulous! Truffle fries with garlic aïoli , Caesar salad without the croutons, crab stuffed mushrooms, crab stuffed shrimp, and walnut brownie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. I even ordered a meal to go!
Extensive gluten-free menu. Separate fryers for nacho chips and french fries - they're safe and good! Nine-year-old son with celiac had flat bread pizza -- first time for flat bread -- and he loved it. No I'll effects and waitress readily answered all our GF kitchen questions and avoiding any cross-contamination. She didn't have to check with manager about anything so guessing most staff are trained or she's gotten plenty of customers with celiac.
It was my daughter’s birthday; this wouldn’t have been her choice, but she didn’t want me to get sick, so she chose it because of the good reviews. Our server knew nothing about celiac - and even though I’d ordered GF pasta - and told them of my allergy - I ended up getting glutened :-(
I was BLOWN AWAY with my experience at Sedona Taphouse. My friend and I went on a Saturday during lunch and were lucky enough to slide into the last seats available at the bar. As a (previous) avid beer enthusiast, I was surprised and extremely excited to see that they offered Glutenberg beer, which is not the easiest GF beer to find. The bartenders were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about celiac/GF eating, and made recommendations, as I was hung up on all of the different options- which we know is very rare at an establishment that is not GF. I ended up getting the Devil’s Pass pasta on one of their insistent recommendations and it was delicious!! My non-GF friend tried some of mine and could not taste the difference in the GF noodles. It was enough for two meals. To top it off, one of the managers stopped by to ask how everything was. She was very personable and we had a discussion about the difficulties of a GF lifestyle- turns out she had GF many years ago by choice. All in all, even though I’m not keen on franchise restaurants, I was extremely impressed with my experience at Sedona from the moment we stepped in until we left. Highly HIGHLY recommend.
I was super excited to try this place out after reading so many amazing reviews, but after speaking with my server, I was a little let down. When I asked about a dedicated fryer, she went back to ask someone in the kitchen and confirmed they do NOT have a dedicated fryer. I was disappointed, but I ordered a burger on a gf bun and fruit (which was DELICIOUS, btw). She came back after I had already ordered to tell me the fryer actually was gf. I didn’t trust it so I opted to stick with my original order, which ended up being really good!
This restaurant is not celiac safe despite the numerous reviews that say it is. I've gotten sick there numerous times, most recently yesterday from their mini crab cakes that are supposed to be gf--just lump crab, homemade remoulade sauce, and microgreens. My guess with this dish is that the mayonnaise that they use to make the remoulade sauce is not gf dedicated and therefore, is contaminated by being used to make gluten-full sandwiches, etc. But I've also gotten sick from their "gf" sides. The only thing I haven't gotten ill from there is their salmon, grilled asparagus, and simple salad greens. I won't go back unless it's simply to have a safe cocktail.
Items on menu as Gluten Free or Gluten Free Friendly. Staff is very accommodating. Everything is delicious!
Good menu with lots of options. My daughter had the fish tacos and fries with no issues afterward. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that our server seemed kind of out of it, didn't really question us much to find out specific dietary needs, and forgot to bring my soup. Otherwise this place seems pretty nice.
I’ve been lucky to have excellent servers. It is true that the chips and guac are on the gf menu but the chips are cooked in the same fryer as other items. The server caught that for me on my first visit and they’ve always been willing to bring some veggies and gf flatbread at no charge for the dips I wanted to have.
The bar staff was the only thing I’ve been uncomfortable about but I’ve stuck with gf beer or wine and been fine. The server caught that the Bloody Mary mix was not gf after he double checked it himself. So all in all they’ve been very helpful and accommodating and food is delicious!
ETA: they’ve just changed some things and now have a dedicated fryer so we can eat the chips and the fries!
Tons of gluten free options! Gluten free fried chicken. Gluten free fries. Never gotten sick!!
Many choices of gluten free options on the menu and clearly marked. Separate fryer for celiac. Celiac teen had burger fries. Food was good, price wasn't awful. We would go back.
I've been there multiple times and finally decided never to go back. I don't think I had major issues with gluten contamination, but the servers and kitchen did a pretty horrible job paying attention to orders and requests (steak came out blue rather than medium, I didn't get the broccoli I'd ordered), so I'm surprised I didn't get sick from that. There was one visit where we counted at least 7 major issues (they never called us when our table was ready, waitstaff forgot to put my order in for a drink despite being asked 4 times, our entrees came out before the appetizer salad, my salad had visible cheese on it when I'd been very clear that I was allergic to dairy, etc).
The worst one was over two visits - I ordered a taco meal that was labeled gluten-free and asked if they could leave out any cheese or other dairy; the waitstaff said they did not add any cheese on them. I ate my dinner and felt not-so-great afterwards, but guessed it might have been mild cross-contact from a previous meal since the restaurant assured me it was dairy-free. The next time we visited, with friends, we happened to have the same woman waiting on our table. I ordered my meal, the same tacos as previously. They came out, and my first bite showed some obvious pieces of cheese falling out of the taco. I asked about having it made again but without the cheese (like I had asked for), and after she had gone to the kitchen, the waiter came back and said they couldn't make it for me because the ingredients inside the tacos are premixed, with cheese and meat all combined before dinner service even starts. In shock, I asked why they had changed the way they made it, and she insisted that no, it had been made the same way for years... And of course no one at the restaurant would ever have told me otherwise. I believe I ended up eating a plain salad (essentially without toppings except chicken) that night because everyone else had already eaten their entrees, and the kitchen couldn't come up with anything else besides a steak that would actually be safe for me to eat.
Won't go back, both for crummy service and for safety hazard.
