I'm very confused by the great reviews. It was a chewy thin crust like every other place. The toppings were fresh tasting and delicious, but skimpy for the price. When I saw they made their own gf crust, I was so excited. Very disappointed 😞 The rest of the family had regular pizza and gave it a 6/10.
My husband (he’s not g/f) and I (I am celiac) ate here last night. The waitress was amazing, knew about celiac and gluten free. Let me know that they don’t have a dedicated space, BUT are very careful- and she’s never had anyone have a reaction that she knows of. The pizza was amazing! We got one g/f crust and my husband even raved about it!
They have a separate and fairly extensive gluten free menu, and most of the desserts are gluten free, as well as the sandwiches. However, they make their own gf dough, and the regular size is a 13”. The pizzas look expensive, but they are piled high with toppings. I’m a very big guy, and I go in hungry. I walked out both times with a box. I’ve been twice and had no issues either time.
My servers have been knowledgeable and could describe the gf options from memory, and described their process. There is a possibility of cross-contamination if there is flour in the air, but it sounds like they try hard to prevent issues.
Pizza was amazing. GF pizza tends to be a gamble, I’m talking crackers with stuff thrown on it texture at times. If you know, you know! This place was great! No extra sauce needed, toppings were delicious, refreshing change of pace. GF alcohol options as well. Great little spot, well worth the walk from hot springs main (but they have parking out front too).
They knew exactly what I needed as a celiac and did wonderful so many options like gf subs, salads, and plenty of options for pizzas I got half and half and meat head was amazing they make their pizza in house and was delicious I also got the gf cheese cake also really good very cream cheesy. Our amazing waitress Emily knew what she was talking about and we didn't have to explain anything like cross contamination 🥳
I had the GF pizza and followed with a slice of cheesecake, GF crust. The pizza was pretty standard for GF crust, it did taste better than crust on freezer pizza. The cheesecake was wonderful. The waiter made sure I was able to avoid cross-contact and assured me that celiacs come in often without issue.
Manager was helpful and responsive to my questions. She went back and forth to the kitchen more than once to ask about different cross contamination factors. They already use separate pans and the top shelf of the oven, but do not use separate sauce or toppings (they did when I asked them to) so I would definitely speak up if you have Celiac. The pizza ended up safe and actually cooked (I have been served raw dough before because of how many layers of extra pans and foil the restaurant used to prevent cross contamination). Unfortunately it was very bland. Our friends ordered a gluten pizza and reported the same. Would not return based on the taste.
Great food. Gfree crust and vegan cheese available. Pepperoni chips were delish.
They have GF pizza crust. Our server said all the toppings “should be” GF. We just got pepperoni so we were safe. Not sure if anything else on the menu was GF.
Wonderful microbrewery and pizza place. Has gf pizza and subs. Good food and fun.
Not certain about the behind the scenes cross contamination protocols but, as a celiac affected by cross contamination the pizza here caused no problems. Food was delicious, gf crust maybe a tad spongey but the toppings tasted really fresh! The only gf beer they had was one where they remove the gluten after its brewed (not usually celiac friendly) so we skipped on the beer.
I read the previous reviews and they may have raised my expectations too high. You can go to my account and notice I don't review much due to reviews being correct pretty much all the time but I feel like I need to for this one. The place was a true experience between the historical feel and the ability to see the brewery through glass walls. But the previous reviewers of this establishment hyped it up way too much in my opinion. The staff that we encountered were super nice and it was a pleasant eating experience but the gluten free pizza is where they lose on rating for me. The pizza was spongy to eat, not fluffy. All the toppings were the best part but they kept falling off so we had to eat it with a fork and knife. A 13 inch pepperoni pizza was $20. It may have been a one time bad experience but I also got sick from here as well. I have eaten many gluten free pizzas in my time of knowing I had Celiac disease and honestly I'd put this one down at the bottom of my gluten free pizza experiences. I'm sure their regular pizza is amazing, it looked great but as far as gluten free goes.. I would definitely work on it some more.
The pizza has a fluffy crust!!!!!! It was the hand down best GF pizza I’ve ever had!
Pizza is NOT Celiac safe. They do NOT have a dedicated area for prepping or cooking pizza. They do take precautions, such as changing gloves, clean cutter, pan, etc. the gluten free pizza is prepped and cooked in same area as all other with pizza crusts being hand tossed and flour being tossed around. The manager was very helpful with making a safe choice. I ended up with a Greek Salad that was very good. The manager said it was prepped in a different area than pizzas and salads had its own area of toppings. I also ordered the GF cheesecake. It is made out of house and has a GF crushed ginger cookie crust and blackberry topping.
I was utterly amazed at how good this pizza was. The crust was actually doughy and soft in texture. It was, hands down, the best gf pizza I have ever had. Staff was fabulous. They even had dessert...with a crust! Menu was quite big, another pleasant surprise. I recommend SQZBX to any celiac or gluten sensitive people.
