The waitress asked if I was GF by choice Or Celiac. She said anything fried is also fried in the same fryer as gluten. They have a large GF menu. I ordered rolls without the crunchy toppings to avoid cross contamination. The rolls were great my favorite was the vegetarian crunch roll. I felt safe and didn’t get sick.

Very celiac safe but the sushi was some of the worst I’ve ever had. Not fresh. Haphazardly presented. Small portions. Uneven cuts… it seemed like more of a day drinking bar than a sushi restaurant.

Amazing gluten free menu!! I have only written 3 reviews in my long life... this is my 4th. I was almost dissuaded by the poor reviews, but it is hard to find gluten free sushi. Boy am I glad I tried it!!! The selection was magnificent! Service was great. Our girl even brought us water to go, without us asking (we drank several glasses of water at dinner).
There was only a $2 up charge to get real crab! They were not stingy with it either.
Prices were reasonable. And they even had gluten free tamari.
Cornstarch coated vegetables with ponzu sauce had a very thin coating, but tasty.
When we asked for extra ginger, she brought out an overflowing half cup.
It doesn't hurt they are next to a reasonably priced, generous, gourmet ice cream shop.
It was definitely worth making the trek from East El Cajon!

They have a gluten free menu and provide gluten free soy sauce. The food was delicious and I did not get sick. Will be coming here again. I have celiac disease and I am very sensitive. Great place.

We stopped here for a lunch after we landed at the airport. The waiter was so kind and helpful navigating the gluten free menu. They have a separate gluten free menu but I was concerned about the sweet soy sauce - knowing that usually it isn’t gluten free but he reassured me it was OK and I didn’t get sick. They use regular rice and fry it for texture on the rolls. Their sushi rolls seem overly stuffed to me and I had trouble getting the rolls to stay together. They were good but not the best. Also their soy sauce bottles were so extremely dirty it was disgusting. I used a napkin to pick them up because they seem like they never get washed. They do have gluten free soy sauce though.

They have a gluten free menu, the server was really knowledgeable about gluten-free options and she even asked me if I had celiac and told me to avoid anything that is fried since it isn’t in a dedicated fryer. The food was sooo good and they have gluten-free soy sauce. I would recommend.

aaaamaaaaazinggg!! Waitstaff is super wonderful, atmosphere is rad, but the ROLLS!! An entire gluten free menu, which is basically the same as the regular menu. There's a couple gluten free salad options, but the majority gluten free options are the rolls. The big difference is not using tempura on the shrimp and instead cornstarch, real instead of imitation crab, and slightly different sauces. Wasabi aioli, ponzu and a sweet soy (unagi sauce, basically) are the sauce options. Staff knows what they're talking about, too, and drinks are yum. 10/10, probably the best gluten free roll place I've been in San Diego.

FYI celiacs: you need to still make some modifications to the (amazingly extensive!) gluten-free menu. A helpful manager let me know to avoid anything fried, since there is risk of cross-contamination in the fryer. That includes the crispy rice that goes on top of some of the rolls. So for example, the manager said you can substitute grilled shrimp for fried shrimp, and request no crispy rice, and it would be celiac safe. Be sure to mention that it is an allergy/celiac. He said they have designated bowls for the gluten-free preparation, and they typically have one chef in charge of all things gluten free. Oh and they have GF Tamari + packets for takeout. I appreciate their awareness and precautions, and I would feel safe eating here again!

This place is great. I’m not Celiac, but I have gluten sensitivity. This place is bomb. They have a gluten free menu, and are open to answering all your questions. My go to sushi place.

The menu is clearly labeled and when I picked it up each container was also labeled and separate from the non-Gf items in our order. The server included GF tamari in our bag to go. Sushi was fresh and tasty!

My boyfriend and I already loved Sushi Lounge PL prior to my celiac diagnosis. I was so happy to find out that they have a separate GF menu, and I could still eat the majority of my favorite things. They even have GF Ponzu sauce (my favorite). Additionally, our waiter was really understanding, patient, and helpful when I had questions. I felt totally fine after my meal, and didn’t get sick at all. Can’t wait to go back!

They can make almost all their specialty rolls gluten free! They replace tempura with cornstarch and they replace imitation crab with real crab. They also have gluten free soy sauce and can make any of their sauces gluten free. Ask for the gluten free menu so you can see all your options. I shared 3 different rolls with my Fiancé and they were all delicious!!

The staff knew about what was gluten free and double checked if she wasn’t sure. I did have to ask if a sauce was gluten free and when she double checked it wasn’t and they had to make a new one. I had ordered off a gluten free menu so I would have assumed all was gluten free. I gave three stars because I was diligent about clarifying and double checking and had I not it would have been bad. Food was fabulous and I am posting 6 hours later and feel just fine. Go there and enjoy but make sure you ask. She said the sushi chef made sure it was gluten free but the kitchen made the sauce and didn’t.
Delicious sushi! Sushi Lounge has a gluten free menu and make regular favorites like spicy tuna roll gluten-free upon request. Don't forget to tell them you need gluten-free soy sauce. It's a really tasty one!
