Terrible! I have eaten at several other Counter locations with no problems, this one made me sick, obvious cross contamination issues at this location.
Horrible experience. We called in advance to make sure the fries were GF. We drove all the way to the restaurant and when we placed our order the manager admitted they fried onion rings and other items in the French fry friers! We left.
My gluten free bun was cooked perfectly (no doubt Udi's) but my turkey burger was a little dry and overlooked (better than undercooked, right?). The hostess/waitress did not know that they still had a GF menu and confused it with Vegan somehow so ask lots of questions. I think she was just over worked. They had fries on their GF menu but I didn't order any so I didn't ask about cross contamination. I'll probably be back next time I visit LA area.
Wonderful GF options, and menu. Highly recommend!!!!
Seriously fantastic food and the service staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Dedicated fryer, so I got to have sweet potato fries! I also had the "tuna burger in a bowl" (a tuna patty atop a bed of organic greens). It was absolutely delicious! I really wish I had access to a restaurant like this at home. Can't wait for the opportunity to eat there again.
We were looking for something that was close to the Sondheim theater 🎭 and would be pretty quick and not super expensive (remember this is Times Square). My husband and I both had turkey burgers and enjoyed them. We were handed a coupon for fries when we walked up to the door and they were very good - shoe string style. I'm GF and they had a separate menu for me The GF bun was very tasty. We finished off with root beer floats. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was clean and well lighted. I would check it out when you're in Times Square
Ordered gluten free bun, and clearly received sourdough bread. When I complained I thought this wasn't gluten free, the waitress was rude and snippy at me and refused my table service the rest of the night. No compensation, nobody sent it back to the kitchen … there are many decent Counter locations nearby, this is not a good one.
Gluten-free, easy to customize menu and a conscientious server! (I mean a legit GF menu - separate, pre-printed menu with only GF items, not a regular menu with some options marked as GF-able.) Super selection of burgers, salads, sandwiches, and (for the adults) cocktails and (not GF) beer. They have two fryers; our server said one is supposed to be reserved for GF but she had her doubts so she went to investigate herself, before we could even suggest it. She reported that the two fryers are next to each other and, while the chefs try, she couldn't guarantee no XC, so we didn't chance it. (She has a family member w celiac so really understands.) Overall, a solid and well-meaning effort, but I'll probably write corporate to suggest that they separate or put a partition between the fryers. Still definitely worth checking out, but proceed w caution on the fries.
We eat here all the time. They have gluten free buns and bread. Awesome gluten free menu - actually one of the best I've ever seen! We love their milkshakes, chili, burgers, and sandwiches. My favorite meal is the banana split milkshake, sweet potato fries and gf grilled cheese. Yum!!!!!!
great place for a Newby to this gluten free thing like me
The strawberry lemonade was good. Service sucks, the wait time was long. My bison is gouda burger was given to another table. I never experienced anything like this before. I had to put more money in the meter. I thought 45 minutes would be plenty. So disappointed
Knowledgeable server and dedicated frier for the fries!
We are moving from California to Idaho. On our trip to purchase our home, we went to the Counter for lunch with our real estate agent. It was awesome! The servers were quite versed on the gluten free and inquired about the extent of sensitivity and said all items were isolated to try to prevent cross contamination. It was so good, my husband and I went back again the next day!
Had a dedicated GF menu which was nice. Can't go wrong with a "make your own burger" type menu. Got 1 lb bison burger on their GF bun with avocado and lettuce. Side of shoe string fries. Was very delicious and didn't have any effects from either dish. Don't think this place is celiac friendly but it does cater very well to a GF clientele. Will return.
ate here with no ill-effects for GF husband. we all enjoyed our meal once we got it. we called in the order and we're told 20 minutes but it was almost an hour. on the plus side, everything was ready at the same time and the right temp. convenient if you are downtown.
So many options, good food. Expensive for burgers but fantastic location if you're doing the tourist thing in NYC. This was our third visit. It's very noisy.
Great tasting food! One option for a gf bun and it's typical and not soft and doughy, but they have a decent separate GF menu! Otherwise, get your meal as a salad bowl with all the fixings and toppings you can have. A big portion and filling. Not cheap, but food around here is anything but. However, I feel like it's worth it at this restaurant. This is not fast food. But they still are pretty quick. If you're a burger eater, or chicken tender fan (not GF), this is delicious food. Also, kitchen has a dedicated GF area so no chance of cross-contamination. Usually a very busy place. Regular and sweet potato fries are really yummy. Onion strings are to die for. Literally, if you're GF. But ate them once anyway knowing I'd be paying dearly later -.- !! Full bar. Kid friendly with kid-menu. Amazing shakes. Can't go wrong here. Mtn View location is a lot bigger than the Palo Alto one, with better seating areas and indoor temperature way more comfortable. Thumbs up!

Just perfect! 20 mins wait for fresh burgers and fries to the take out counter; worth it. Gate D33. Friendly service, en Français!
I have celiac and this location has burned me over and over again (I've had good luck at other locations) after I gave them way too many chances. The last time I will ever go here I got a burger with no bun and no fries. How in the **** do you screw that up? I don't know but I was instantly sick. Yes, I specified I have a severe allergy. Other locations have been good to me. This one always screws me. Stay the heck away. This place should NOT be marked as celiac friendly. Maybe they were once, but no longer.
Tasty burger. GF bun fell apart as expected, but hey, it's GF bread! I ended up using a fork with much gratitude for a change from "protein style." Use the GF menu to customize your burger. They list the sides which are safe. Burger was very good, fries were ok although others may like this style. Afterwards my villi were happy!
Found this place through this app and wandered in for carry out on a Friday night. Staff was friendly. We did the build your own burgers and picked gf buns and picked our toppings. I asked to confirm that they had a dedicated fryer because I'm celiac and they told me that they normally do, but one of their fryers was down so I shouldn't order the fries. As much as I wanted fries I'm always glad for honesty. I would rather not have them than be sick. We got milk shakes and headed out with our food. The burgers were really good and the buns were totally fine. I was so full that I didn't even miss the fries. I would definitely eat here again. It was expensive, but our burgers and milk shakes were both delicious.
They have a new updated gf menu. They have a separate fryer but sometimes they turn it off if it's late so call ahead and ask them to turn it on if you want to get fries. Tons of gf options. Probably the best gf burger in town. Very safe.
Delicious, absolutely wonderful burgers. They are pricey, but their burgers are large and you can pile them high with any and all toppings that you want. I like their first buns, just wish they didn't fall apart so much!
