Staff is knowledgeable. I ordered fries because I know other The Counter spots have a dedicated fryer. But since i wrote “Celiac/gluten allergy” on my order, someone called me and told me their fryer isn’t dedicated because their kitchen is too small at this location. I really appreciated them calling to tell me.

They have a completely separate gf menu and vegan menu. Staff was knowledgeable and the fryer is gluten free for fries. I saw another review that says they aren't gf fryers but that's not the case so far as I can tell. Maybe they changed it... either way, I am a very sensitive celiac and didn't have any problems!

So the reviews were mixed but I went here last night to take a chance. I was happy to see the separate gluten free menu. My waiter was knowledgeable and answered questions. Since I built my own burger, I was able to write “celiac” and “dairy allergy” specifically on my ticket that went to the kitchen. They assured me the fryer was separate. The food was good although the bun did start to break apart a little. Most importantly, I didn’t get sick. It’s a little pricey but this is LA. I’ll definitely order again.

They care about cross contamination, but I was still contaminated on the 5th time I ate here. Disappointing because their burgers a pretty good, but I have been sick for multiple days so it is not worth it overall.

The Counter has a separate gluten free menu available. One side is all of the gluten free menu options and the other is a build your own gluten free burger page. They use Udi’s buns or you can do a bed of lettuce. They were willing to modify items off the children’s menu to be gluten free for us as well (extra charge for gf bun). My child got the kids menu sliders on a cut up Udi’s bun. They have a dedicated fries fryer and let me know they would tell the kitchen about our order so gloves were changed and precautions were taken. Our waiter was helpful. We would return.

My gluten free fries were put in a to go container directly on top of a regular sandwich for someone else. Discovered that cross contamination when I got home.

They have a good, dedicated gluten free menu.

The food was decent, and they knew what was gluten-free. That was nice. The only problem was that the only thing gluten-free was the hamburger and most condiments. They charge a flat fee of 16 bucks for a hamburger and french fries. Given that you can't eat french fries (not GF), they don't offer a discount. So basically you are spending $16 on a airport grade hamburger with a gluten-free bun. I should mention that the gluten-free bun is a 1.89 up charge as well. So the actual price was closer to $18 for a meal that suddenly feels relatively dismal after you see the final price tag. After we ate here we were still hungry so we went down to a place called Islander Bar near gate D4 and had an amazing fish taco dinner that was about the same price. Far more generous serving of food and as long as you get the fish grilled and not fried you are in the clear from gluten. I appreciate this place has efforts to provide a gluten-free bun, but for a hamburger so small that I had room for another meal afterwards, I have to say it's not worth $18.

The regular menu says at the bottom “Ask about our Gluten Free Menu!”. Which for me is a life savor. Would definitely recommend- so many delicious gf options with no sickness afterwards! We got there at about 6:30 and had a show to get to by 8- got there with plenty of time. If you need a gf option in times square go here!

Never had a reaction at this location. They have a gluten free menu and a dedicated fries fryer. You can make custom burgers and salads. Their gluten free buns aren’t the best, they fall apart easily, but it is pretty hard to find a safe burger joint so I don’t mind too much. Just place your order for a gluten allergy and make sure you double confirm everything will be cooked on clean/ separate surfaces.

The food tastes good but both me and my son were sick to our stomach after we left. Was quite a downer the rest of the day for us. We both only had hamburgers. Unique location but probably not safe for celiacs.

We went here because it was deemed to be “celiac safe.” My sister and I, who both have celiacs, got sick after eating off of their gluten free menu. We made sure to clearly identify that we had celiacs. I would not recommend it.

We had put off coming to this location because when it first opened staff were stumped. They are now very educated about celiac and know about cross contamination. They cook the GF bun separately, fries are GF, and they said they have dedicated milk shake metal cups. Kiddo did not have a shake so can’t vouch for it. But was able to customize a burger, liked the bun and the fries.

The Counter is awesome. I have eaten here numerous times and the servers are all very knowledgeable about how the gluten free food is prepared. As a family, we get the fries trio, substituting onion rings (NOT gluten free) for plain fries. The gluten free fries trio includes: Parmesan, sweet potato and plain French fries. The fries are made separately for us GF/celiac people. I also recommend the gluten free Chipotle turkey burger, with the GF bun. There are so many options, and custom burgers (for your gluten, gluten free, and vegetarian friends) you can make. They accommodate everyone. Highly recommend this location.

Amazing breakfast with lots of options for celiacs. I ordered an omelette which had very generous portions of bacon, spinach and cheese. They offered a gluten free bun instead of toast. My husband was impressed with the quality for an airport restaurant.

They were closing so we got food to go, I was worried that they were going to be in a rush. But I got a burger bowl (no bun, basically a salad with the party on top) and fries. All very good!! And I had no reaction (and I'm very sensitive).

The fries are not in a dedicated fryer. Some servers will inform you of this and some won’t. That being said, I never got sick from them (they didn’t inform me until I’d eaten them several times). I used to come here for the GF tater tots until they fed me a spoiled bunch and I got food poisoning. Now I avoid this place.

Our food was good. The chili cheese fries were good. Our burger was ok but came missing half the toppings. Both our friends who are not GF ordered the wings and there was SO much salt they couldn't eat them & waitress insisted there wasn't an error, but reluctantly said she could get them something else. The food took forever to arrive, so there was no way we were waiting for more. Her excuse for horrible service was that over 3 people didn't show up for work. However I gave it a good rating bc my food was good and there was a great selection. I still feel good without reaction .

Atmosphere is a cross between a Chipotle and an Applebee's. Definitely an adult vibe, but not very overly commercial or dark inside. The burgers are good, but pricey. The gluten-free bun is just an Udi brand so we opted for the bed of lettuce. Chili was large portion but only okay. Ask for a GF menu when you are seated.

Ordered from Gluten Free menu. I “tested” the sweet potato fries with my Nima Sensor that were advertised “dedicated fryer” and they came up as not Gluten free. So beware if you are Celiac and sensitive. On the bright side, the bare burger on a bed of Kale tested GF.

I let my waitress know I had a severe gluten allergy (easier to say than saying I have Celiac) and she made sure to let the cooking staff know. They have dedicated fryers for the fries and prepare food safely. I had a burger on a GF bun with sweet potato fries. She withheld the sauces that had gluten in them, which I appreciated. I didn’t get sick afterwards, so I think I was in the clear. It was very good and didn’t taste like a GF bun. Only thing I would say is it was a bit pricey compared to In-N-Out, but it was a fun environment and good food.

Had lunch today there. No gluten free menu. Fries are not safe as they share frier. They have chips but are not gf. They have gluten free bun. The quality for the price was a joke. Everyone’s knowledgeable about gluten, AND they go the extra mile to not only change gloves, but get your toppings and salad base from the back, where it hasn’t been touched and there’s no cross-contamination possible! I’m so impressed. The turkey and vegan burgers do have gluten in them, but a beef burger in a salad bowl is totally safe. Also! By virtue of their limited offerings, the fries are the ONLY thing that’s fried in their fryer, so you can have regular or sweet potato fries with no problem.

I went there with my boyfriend on a vacation, and the staff knew what I was asking for when I told them I was gluten free. They have a separate menu(I got the impossible burger, which is also vegetarian along with gf), and they have a separate fryer so it’s celiac safe. I also got a side salad and it was delicious. 10/10, defintely would recommend!
