I've eaten here many times with no issues. However, I ate there a week ago and was sick for four days after. Will not be returning.
They have faulty staff training and food prep processes that make this a risky place to eat if you are a celiac. They routinely contaminate the supposedly dedicated french fry fryer and don't tell GF customers when they order fries.
great staff very willing to check on ingredients if they are questionable. gluten free fryer is next to the regular fryer, if you are very sensitive don't eat fried stuff.
Very nice staff and great gluten free buns!
We visited this location several weeks ago and we made the mistake of assuming that we could safely eat there. Although we communicated about our need to eat GF due to Celiac, we didn't find out until it was too late that the fries we had already consumed were prepared in the same fryer as wheat containing items because the GF fryer was broken. The poor server rushed out to tell us as soon as she found out but my daughter was hysterical upon getting the news since she was worried about getting physically ill & we were 45 minutes from our hotel. The manager there was not even apologetic and said that they couldn't guarantee the food would be GF. She didn't charge us for the burgers that those with Celiac couldn't eat due to having to rush out of there but I was extremely disappointed in her response and would have expected that a restaurant that offers a gluten free menu would at least brief their staff before the dinner shift if there are changes that might affect their customers. I am so disappointed at how this wasn't communicated.
I loved my build-your-own hamburger. It was amazing to eat a burger with a delicious bun. My waiter was so helpful, and I didn't get sick!
Update: we've eaten here several times & Celiac hubby has not gotten sick. The food is good, though expensive, & the service has been flat out bad the last few times. But the sweet potato fries & organic bison burger are so good I can't totally write them off yet. They do now have packets of "Heinz Natural" HFCS free ketchup if you ask for it. I previously gave this location one star for being generally clueless. They seem to have dramatically improved and do indeed now have a dedicated frier for the fries (regular and sweet potato). I wish they had organic ketchup, they only have the Heinz HFCS filled junk. They do have organic bison and organic greens. I will update again after super sensitive hubby has eaten there a few times so we can gauge how safe they really are. But they have definitely taken steps in the right direction. And the bison burger in a bowl and fries were DELICIOUS. (They do have GF buns, Udi's I think, and a GF beer or two.)
This place is really accommodating and has a great diverse gluten free menu
I’m not usually a huge burger person but I loved this place! Our waiter Edwardo was exceptional and put up with all of my questions (both celiac related and general). My favorite part was the dedicated fryer for french fries! Some of the milkshakes are gluten free too!
I’ve been struggling to find good restaurants since I was diagnosed with celiac but I’ve never had a reaction from this place and the food is very delicious. There are lots of options as well and you can order online. The gluten free buns and fries are great as well.
I eat here all the time because it's by my work. Never had a bad gluten reaction, the burgers are DELICIOUS and the fries are great too. Definitely recommend.
I had called the manager prior to arrival to make sure he felt confident they could serve my celiacness. He said to tell my waiter and they will take care of me. Upon sitting I asked for the gf menu and told my waiter he had celiac. He explained he would let the chef know. I ordered and asked if the sweet potato fries were cooked in different oil so I said ok. A few minutes later he told me the manager said he spoke to me and recommends I don't eat the fried food. It is different oil but there could be some splatter from the other grease. I said thank you and they took $3 off my bill. I was just happy they thought it through and were willing to warn me vs just saying "eh, it will probably be fine"
The restaurant allows you to create your own burger, with a dedicated gluten free menu (and good list of other allergens available if necessary). The gluten free bun is very good, for a gluten free bun, and they have a dedicated gluten free fryer for chips. They don't have a separate food prep area, but will clean down the working area between orders to reduce risks.
Some places make such a big deal out of accommodating people with special dietary needs, it’s nice when you find a place that gets it right. Gluten free buns for their delicious build your own burgers, tons of topping options, vegan burger and cheese options, and a dedicated gluten free fryer. I had a delicious bison burger on gluten free bun with goat cheese, onion, grilled pineapple, bacon, and avocado with a side of sweet potato fries. Best meal I’ve had in a long time and was not made to feel like it was any problem to accommodate my needs.
Absolutely delicious and safe!! Definitely go between 3-6 if you can to avoid the busy times. I got the grilled chicken with bacon/cheddar/avocado/ranch, SO GOOD. Chose no bun, though the GF bun looked good. Will definitely come again and hope to see some in the Midwest!
Just came back from a mission trip in Cuba. Had to carry all my food. Hadn’t eaten any real food in a week. They have GF hamburgers and FRIES. Saved my life. Rosemary knows her stuff. She has done some study on GF
Delicious but I got super sick within an hour. The waiter didn’t seem to be paying a lot of attention, I shouldn’t have trusted. I’ll try again if I’m starving but I’d give them a thorough talking to and not trust unless I get full attention
Had a burger on gluten free bun and Rose helped me with GF toppings. Did not get sick. I have celiac.
so happy to find this place! Rosemarie, the hostess, walked me through the menu, crossed off everything I could not eat. they have a separate fryer for French fries and gf buns for burgers.
Knowledgeable staff, great burgers and dedicated fryer. A rare find for airport food!
Staff is knowledgeable. I ordered fries because I know other The Counter spots have a dedicated fryer. But since i wrote “Celiac/gluten allergy” on my order, someone called me and told me their fryer isn’t dedicated because their kitchen is too small at this location. I really appreciated them calling to tell me.
Peggy crossed all the gluten items off the menu for me. I was able to build my burger to my liking. Even the fries were safe.
I have CD. I requested and received the Gluten-free menu. I ordered a GF sandwich and made sure they knew it was the GF version. When I received the sandwich, I asked again if it was GF because it looked like regular bread- The waiter assured me that it was. It was not. I got sick shortly after I began eating. They blamed the business of the restaurant on the kitchen and waiter's error. While they were highly apologetic, what if I had an allergy instead of CD? Never going back.
I’ve eaten here 6 times over last 2 months, and have never had a reaction. I’ve a very, very sensitive Celiac sufferer. GF burgers, buns, fries are all available. Including GF alcoholic beverages, such as angry orchard in bottles. Don’t try Omission Beer (NOT celiac friendly), and I haven’t ordered milk shakes due to possible cross-contamination. Staff is learning about celiac. Many, many options available. Good parking available in garage in back- enjoy!
The gourmet burgers were very delicious. They serve the burgers on GF buns and we shared a GF batch of fifty fifty fries. (Half shoe string fries and half sweet potato fries).
I loved the burger, you can male your own burger with gluten free bread. They also have orchard thieves which is my favorite kind of cider. We paid 38€ for 2 burgers, 3 ciders and sides. 4 stars because they don't have any gluten free dessert (only ice cream but who wants ice cream with this cold?)
