My sister and I both ordered turkey burgers which tasted pretty bland. The drinks were good though, and staff was knowledgeable about celiac and seemed to follow a specific protocol when it came to allergies. Not a bad option in terms of safety, but I would definitely go for something more interesting on the menu if I came again.

They really understand Celiac and there are a lot of options on the menu. The quinoa bowls are amazing but we would not recommend the gluten free pizza crust as it was a little too hard

Updated dec 2022: wrote the below like 5 years ago. Still true that it’s safe but food is veryyyy salty. Still good, but not on my fav list anymore now that I’ve been to so many more in Chicago :)
OMG THIS PLACE IS A HIDDEN GEM of this app bc it was crowded but their food is AMAZING. Totally celiac safe, this is the kind of place that knows what they are doing. All the staff were knowledgable and had menu items marked. However they can also make other items gluten free through modification. They have gluten free pizza crust and pita as well as buns and bread. This was our first time there but true food kitchen has already made it to my list of all time favorite restaurants (which is EXTREMELY selective let me assure you). they have a ton of dairy, vegetarian, vegan and of course gluten free options. But whether you are a die-hard carnivore who believes vegans are a blight on this planet to an exclusively raw food proponent, there is something at true food kitchen for you. I had the phanaeng curry with chicken and a chance to sample the entrees of my dining mates, the Moroccan chicken and inside out quinoa burger. We also ordered the cauliflower appetizer I forget what the exact name was. All three were excellent. I would order the curry again right now even though I am so full I doubt I’d be able to keep anything down to be frank. Anyways phanaeng curry was an infinity-out-of-ten, the Moroccan chicken was excellent as well, I didn’t think it was good as the curry but still the kind of dish that changes your life. The quinoa burger was phenomenal as well. The cauliflower starter had some sort of sauce and it was partially blackened and on the same level as the curry, which again has made it to my list of all time favorites. Finally, as the culmination to a heavenly, otherworldly experience, we had for dessert the squash pie and a blueberry muffin with ice cream. The squash pie was amazing. Enough said. I wanted to rewind my life after I ate it so I could eat it again. And again. And again. We will 100% be back, probably tomorrow for brunch if I can convince my family to go. If you haven’t tried this place, you HAVE TO GO. there are so many menu options in all different sorts of cultures and cuisines and as a celiac it’s amazing that places like this exist.

Very well informed staff, and it was really reassuring that the chef brought my dish out separately. Tons of GF options and the food is very seasonal and flavorful. Great option!

Great food and good amount of GF options. Server was very knowledgeable about cross contamination and when the food came out they made sure to say it was prepared with gluten allergy precautions. All desserts are GF at this time but menu changes seasonally.

This was a great find for our family. All the desserts were gluten free! It is rare to be able to eat dessert out at a restaurant. Menu was clearly marked, gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan. Staff was super knowledgable and the items. And, the food was very good.

Came for brunch and was blown away by the number of GF, DF, and vegan options. Staff were kind and knowledgeable. The butternut squash soup was particularly delicious. GF DF pizza also good. Didn’t get sick either! Will definitely return!

What a great place to eat!! First time in Chicago and I’m so happy I found this place! Butternut Squash Soup - 5⭐ Korean Noodle Bowl - 5-⭐ So many GF & Vegan options I loved it! Service good too!

Staff were so nice and tried so hard to accommodate me, but two out of three Nima tests for different iterations of the same dish came back positive for gluten. Maybe my Nima was too sensitive, or the dish was prepared where they make their pizza dough, but I didn’t feel comfortable eating there, despite good experiences at other True Food Kitchen locations.
Excellent food and all gluten free, dairy free, and meat free items are clearly marked on menu. Menu changes seasonally. Wait staff was very knowledgeable and asked if it was a gluten allergy. When I ordered the spaghetti squash casserole without the cheese, the waitress asked if I would like to add their homemade almond milk ricotta, which I appreciated! Delicious, fun ambiance, and the place was packed. Good cocktails too and they change seasonally as well.
Wonderful! Many gluten free and dairy free options. Was there for brunch and had the vegan chorizo bowl with a GF blueberry muffin. Wish I had come here sooner, will return!

Unfortunately, I did not have a good overall experience. Was warned by the time we sat down to order because the fire alarm went off the entire time we were there. I ordered a side kale salad and mushroom pizza and advised the waiter it was an allergy. After eating, I was sick for the next 24 hours which leads me to believe the allergy was cross contaminated. Really wanted to enjoy this restaurant based upon previous reviews but do not feel safe going back here.
