I think Wegmans needs to get more credibility for their gluten free options. There is potential for cross contamination in a shared kitchen environment, but their labeling is great, the offerings are great and they are really responsive and reliable when you have questions. This is our go to lunch option when we travel.
This is a grocery store, Given it has a very big gluten. Free section along with smaller gluten free sections throughout the store. I love going here because you can find a lot of unusual gluten free foods. You can find Ravioli Chips Cakes Donuts And a bunch of other food. All in all I like shopping here. It can be a little pricey but I like the atmosphere and just a range of the gluten-free Items.
I went to the sushi section since I saw online that all Wegmans’ sushi is gluten free. There is a big “No Gluten” sign there but under that it says “Not gluten-free due to shared preparation surfaces.” I asked the person working behind the sushi counter just to be sure and she didn’t understand what I was asking about. She seemed like she didn’t even know what gluten or wheat were. Definitely didn’t feel safe eating there.
Largest selection of gluten free products in Columbia. Also, usually the best prices for them. They also serve many prepared foods, sushi, a hot bar and baked goods with items that are marked "no gluten containing ingredients". The chefs say they are not celiac safe due to potential for cross contact . I wouldn't eat bakery items; however, I eat food from the sushi and items from the hot bar and have never had an issue.
The worker was so nice and helpful. She wiped down surfaces and changed gloves and showed me the sandwich oil bottle so I could see if it was ok for me. She even wiped down the scale too. Their rolls are long Udi's that are pre-wrapped. I had roast beef, provolone, spring mix, cucumbers and Wegmans sandwich oil. The sandwich was great and I didn't get sick.
