Great experience! GF items are clearly marked, and the server said that others could be made GF. I asked him to add a gluten allergy alert to my order, and when I confirmed this when my food arrived, he told me that he let the kitchen know it was Celiac and not a dietary preference (he used Celiac even when I hadn’t!). I got the Saturday Lodeh, and he confirmed that the tofu was fried first thing in the mornings after they change to fresh oil. I also got the coconut sago for dessert. All delicious! Decent GF drink options too…Boylans and Bundaburg.
I decided to try Wild Ginger based on the reviews I read. I'm traveling and at the mercy of this app to give me options that are safe. The reviews seemed to alleviate my concerns. However, upon being seated and reviewing the menu I became VERY concerned that I was NOT going to be able to find anything I could eat. The GF options appeared to be very limited. Upon talking to our waiter, Ryan, I learned that many of the menu items can be prepared as GF. Some, where the meats have been marinated or that contain hoisin sauce are not able to be modified. We managed to put together four items, along with some fried rice sweet and sour pork that were GF and very delicious! My suggestion is to check the menu carefully for those items that are marked as GF, and then ask the person waiting on you what other items might be made with a little tweaking into a GF item. Again those where the meat is marinated or has hoinin sauce will probably not work. The will also bring you some GF soy sauce. This is a place I'd definitely revisit.
I made a reservation through open table at this restaurant on short notice for our wedding anniversary. I have a long list of food allergies/ intolerances including gluten, dairy, eggs, and anything from the nightshade family ( this one usually stumps wait staff). We were given a lovely table next to a window. They surprised us with complimentary champagne. The waiter was not phased at all by my laundry list, and I ordered the Schezwaun green beans and Sea Bass for dinner. It was fantastic food, top notch service and not one iota of a reaction afterwards. I will definitely return knowing I can eat here safely! A beautiful restaurant too, not so loud you couldn't have a conversation. My husband had the 7 flavor beef ( not GF) and loved it as well. And a cocktail list to swoon over. Thank you Wild Ginger!!!
I've been a fan of the Wild Ginger for awhile now. They have several clearly marked items, always ask about allergies, and offer GF soy sauce. Today the really impressed me.
My company had a dinner here tonight. The dinner was a banquet, served family style, with many courses. There were about 40 of us. My server made sure that I knew what items were GF and which were not, brought out special appetizers, and even went so far to arrange some gluten entrees to be made with GF soy sauce so I could enjoy this items that are typically not GF per their regular menu. I was well fed. They were concerned I may not gotten enough since I was not able to partake in a few of the dishes. Hardly, I was stuffed! I'm highly impressed!!!
We've been multiple times and they are very friendly and allergy conscious. They are accommodating and don't make us feel uncomfortable for allergy questions. Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff!!!
Some good gf options, nice mixed drink menu as well. I had the Panang Beef, it was excellent. Rated as four stars due to parking situation and slightly in attentive service.
Variety of Asian cuisine in the heart of downtown. Menu has a number of gluten free items as well as other food sensitivities (vegan, vegetarian and dairy free). Waiter double checked with chef whether dish was dairy free and offered an alternative dish that did not include dairy. Dish was cooked very well.
Wow, so I both feel like I should have looked it up on here before eating but also glad I didn’t because I had a fantastic experience. I went with a group of 6 coworkers, and I knew from the menu having GF markings I could have some items but I let the Waiter know I was celiac anyway, and he was very knowledgeable and said he could bring me gf soy sauce or tamari they had both and can make most dishes gf. I didn’t want to spoil the rest of the group’s choices so I opted to get my own entree and let them share family style. When we ordered, he came over to me and quietly let me know that of the 7 entrees and 4 appetizers we ordered he could make all gf except for the beef skewers, and was very respectful and discreet and I let the table know and asked if that’s okay, and he said the taste won’t change much as it’s mainly gf soy sauce that will be used in place of regular and everyone was fine with it. He put the skewers at the oppose end of the table and quietly reminded me that it’s the one I shouldn’t have. And went over each item as he put them out, and even mentioned to the table guests to not mix the serving utensils. I was fall on my ass impressed and thankful. We all ate family style and I loved all of it! And the best part is I didn’t get glutenned!! Thank you!
