Things on the menu with soy sauce weren't marked gluten free but they DO have tamari. The waiter was very knowledgeable about what items might be modifiable to be gluten free, and which of those would be safe for celiac. They took cross-contamination seriously.
I decided to try Wild Ginger based on the reviews I read. I'm traveling and at the mercy of this app to give me options that are safe. The reviews seemed to alleviate my concerns. However, upon being seated and reviewing the menu I became VERY concerned that I was NOT going to be able to find anything I could eat. The GF options appeared to be very limited. Upon talking to our waiter, Ryan, I learned that many of the menu items can be prepared as GF. Some, where the meats have been marinated or that contain hoisin sauce are not able to be modified. We managed to put together four items, along with some fried rice sweet and sour pork that were GF and very delicious! My suggestion is to check the menu carefully for those items that are marked as GF, and then ask the person waiting on you what other items might be made with a little tweaking into a GF item. Again those where the meat is marinated or has hoinin sauce will probably not work. The will also bring you some GF soy sauce. This is a place I'd definitely revisit.
I made a reservation through open table at this restaurant on short notice for our wedding anniversary. I have a long list of food allergies/ intolerances including gluten, dairy, eggs, and anything from the nightshade family ( this one usually stumps wait staff). We were given a lovely table next to a window. They surprised us with complimentary champagne. The waiter was not phased at all by my laundry list, and I ordered the Schezwaun green beans and Sea Bass for dinner. It was fantastic food, top notch service and not one iota of a reaction afterwards. I will definitely return knowing I can eat here safely! A beautiful restaurant too, not so loud you couldn't have a conversation. My husband had the 7 flavor beef ( not GF) and loved it as well. And a cocktail list to swoon over. Thank you Wild Ginger!!!
I've been a fan of the Wild Ginger for awhile now. They have several clearly marked items, always ask about allergies, and offer GF soy sauce. Today the really impressed me. My company had a dinner here tonight. The dinner was a banquet, served family style, with many courses. There were about 40 of us. My server made sure that I knew what items were GF and which were not, brought out special appetizers, and even went so far to arrange some gluten entrees to be made with GF soy sauce so I could enjoy this items that are typically not GF per their regular menu. I was well fed. They were concerned I may not gotten enough since I was not able to partake in a few of the dishes. Hardly, I was stuffed! I'm highly impressed!!!
Excellent food! The menu was clearly marked with GF next to each item. Staff was also helpful and attentive. I had the chicken salad and the Bibb lettuce wraps. Both items had a well balanced flavor and were perfectly portioned. Definitely would return.
This is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. EVER! Even including non-gf ones. I was with a large group and the chef prepared separate meals for myself and a vegetarian in the group. They were fantastic!! The staff was careful to point out which were safe for me, appropriate for the vegetarian and which to stay away from. I would highly recommend this place for anyone! They made the kids in the group feel welcome too and made creative drinks for them. Great atmosphere!!
I appreciate that they have a GF menu, but I'm surprised to see this place with so many "celiac friendly" reviews. I asked for a noodle dish gluten free and was assured that was do-able, but was severely glutened by the dish--they say on their menu that they can't prevent cross contamination since there isn't dedicated equipment, but I'm speechless. This is my worst glutening in years. I suppose it's possible it's a fast-hitting food poisoning since it's the only questionable thing I've had... But either way, personally, I would say strongly not recommended for celiacs, based on my experience today.
This restaurant has repeatedly fed me so called gluten free options and later I found they were not! At a later date the wait staff revealed the items were misrepresented as gluten free! Although we still go there after concerts, i never eat there and will never again!!
Fantastic restaurant. Server was extremely knowledgeable about the ingredients in the food and how to accommodate different allergen issues. The menu is clearly marked with what is gluten free and what is not. It has a lot of seafood options but there are also standard protein options that are delicious as well. Fantastic, wonderful meal. I had the panang beef in curry sauce and ordered sauteed mushrooms and snowpeas. The flourless torte was also fantastic. Great restaurant.
What an awesome place! They really knew how to work with food allergies. I have never had a server ask if I had any additional food allergies they had to work with after I told them about ordering gluten-free! They worked well with the kitchen to find something that could work for me and everything was SO tasty! http://celiacandthebeast.com/2012/07/gluten-free-travel-seattle-wild-ginger/
