Terrible experience at Rocky Hill location it took 1 hour to be served. This restaurant as well no longer has a dedicated gluten free menu, and has removed some of the gluten free options from the menu. Staff do not seem knowledgeable about what ingredients are in the food which was concerning when trying to order gluten and dairy free. Gluten free bread available but otherwise menu options are very limited. I definitely would avoid this restaurant if celiac. Old reviews of this restaurant are accurate used to be a very gluten friendly restaurant but their new menu is for sure not and the menu does also not label which items are supposed to be gluten free.
No separate fryer
My friend just got diagnosed with celiacs. I have a gluten intolerance. The other two people in our party had no restrictions. They said none of their fries are gluten free but they didn’t know of any sides were gluten free. I got a salad with a side of tator tots because I figured it’d be fine for me because using the same fryer doesn’t normally bother me. My celiac friend got a burger with a gluten free bun. When they brought it to our car, I asked the man to make sure it was gluten free and he said he thinks so cause the other ones are brioche. We go home and the salad is great and all is well. I eat my tator tots and my celiac friend literally was just diagnosed so he didn’t know his limitations and wanted to see if he could eat three tator tots or if he’d have a reaction. He felt sick immediately. About an hour and a half later, I got sick from the tator tots and I never get sick from cross contamination. Idk if it’s cause they have beer battered fries so that made it worse or what but I was having bad stomach cramps, stomach gurgling and not feeling well. Wouldn’t recommend this for celiacs and hesitant for gluten free customers unless you stick to salad.
Great selection of gluten free items- only thing missing here is a dedicated fryer for fries.
Nice place. GF Menu is called GLUTEN FRIENDLY which tends to scare people. They have GF buns and desserts, the GF turkey burger was great ( had it on lettuce bed - the GF bun is $2 extra). They also carry a few GF beers (too bad I have a ways to drive!) --- recommend the Omission IPA.
Wood n Tap's gluten-friendly menu with several GF beers demonstrates that they get it. I would imagine someday their freedom fries will be cooked in a gluten free dedicated fryer. The food and service are good.
As other wrote, this location does not do a good job at gluten free. I live in rocky hill and have had food orders messed up at least twice. I have heard southington does a great job though.
Loved wood and tap to begin with, they have a lot to choose from but have had food come out not gluten free twice at separate locations after reminding server and ordering from gluten free menu. The staff isn't very careful. Very disappointed since they have such a good selection.
Always a safe gf experience here . I always order the chopped salad with steak ,with the blue cheese vinaigrette. I order it without the frizzled onions because they are not gf . I also get it without the hard boiled egg as I don't care for those . I bring a small bag of gluten free frizzled onions from home and top my salad with those .
This place happened to be along the way to where we were going, so we decided to check it out, thanks to the recommendation of another FMGF customer. I had the cauliflower crust flatbread with spinach and artichoke topping, and it was delicious! When I mentioned to the waitress that I was gluten-free, she immediately commented about how the fryer is not a gluten-free fryer, which was not an issue for me today, but it was good that she mentioned it. Everything was clearly labeled on the menu that was gluten-free. They did have items with gluten-free pasta, but none of their pasta dishes had your traditional tomato sauce, which is what I look for in a pasta dish. The staff was very friendly and attentive, service was quick, and they even have these outdoor dining igloos, right by the Farmington River, which was sort of cool, although we did not use them today. My omnivore partner said that his patty melt was delicious, although this sweet potato fries were not as crispy as ideal.
